  1. I saw it a lot after the buff now it's maybe one or 2 people a match but after the first save, if that even happens, I just slug and look if I have to. It's annoying for sure but not OP and I think that is the crutch of the issue with a lot of perks that are called "op" all the time

  2. I've seen alot of background player and I've seen it get value even less, but in my experience when I play killer I already know how to counter lights and stuff so it doesn't work too well on me and at pallets they try but usually fail but I do think the perk is op because my experience on survivor is you can do way to much wrong and still get a save of any sort and essentially a free long chase or free escaped chase but it's only op in niche situations which is why it's okay…..annoying but okay

  3. I see it frequently and I think it's pretty good now actually, definitely worth using if you're the type of survivor to go for saves a lot. I don't think it's overpowered, though it can be annoying when a survivor has gone down out in an open field and you know a background player survivor with a flashlight is around. Before Background Player, that situation wasn't too hard to deal with by just chasing the flashlight savior off just enough to allow you to pick up, but now it forces you to slug and chase the background player survivor instead, which can be a huge loss of pressure.

A lot of killer players would literally rather lose the match than get saved against, though. Just look at how the reddit worships Lightborn.

  4. I see consequential BP usage in maybe 5% of my games? Not too frequently. I think what frustrates people is that it can be uncounterable? If they're on comms, they can go down in an area where you either just have to slug them or you have to eat the flashlight/pallet/sabo. I've seen much better players than myself struggle with this too, so it's not just me. I'm not sure I'd call it "OP" tho, it's not like those squads are unbeatable.

  5. I think it's pretty strong when swfs coordinate around it, (that's not saying much because everything is better with coordination,) but in most uncoordinated matches it is pretty lackluster imo.

I do think it lacks enjoyable counterplay, however. Background player (BP) as a perk greatly weakens some of the counterplay to normal flashy saves, you can't punish people for getting too close with hits because they can usually be at a safe distance with BP, they also won't fall for a pickup fake because their perk won't be going off.

The only counterplay in my mind to BP is to leave the slugged survivor and start a fresh chase with the would be flasher, certainly it won't be an easy chase either, they get a head start because they didn't need to commit to being close, so they'll also probably reach a loop healthy instead of injured. Finally you down the would be flasher and then you repeat everything because someone else is in position with BP again.

This is annoying for both killer, as well as the slugged survivor who has to wait on the ground. With that said, I don't think it's OP, and I can't think of any changes to keep the perk in a similar position & at the same time give it better counterplay, so I am content with it, in spite of my gripes.

Jeez this is long, no TLDR because I ain't reading all that shit again.

  6. It’s just an example of perk that’s overtuned for no reason. It’s a niche perk that could sometimes get you a save if you are in the right position. Now they basically made it to where it’s almost a guaranteed save even if your positioning is shitty

  7. Anecdotal accounts of rarely seeing something doesn't make for much of a balance discussion. In the same token, I rarely see nurse, but that doesnt mean she isnt a problem. 200% speed for 5 seconds is a bit much dont you think? Rather abusable.

  8. I've not had any background player+pallet saves.

I have absolutely had multiple background player+flash bangs.

Those are even more frustrating because even if you are nose to a wall, flashbangs can still save. So the counter play is…. somehow not be within a 40ish meter diameter of someone hiding behind some random tree waiting to flashbang save.

It bangs didn't work from beside you then I'd have no issue with Background Player. And that's with facing someone today who was using it with a sabo box and constantly trying to sabo.

  9. It's definitely not overpowered whatsoever lmao. I feel like the killers who say it is are the same killers who turn their brain off when they down someone and instantly pick them up and then wind up getting flashlight or pallet stunned over and over again, getting progressively more tilted. The only instance where Background Player is actually annoying, not overpowered, is if you're on an open map like the ones with the cornfield with no walls for you to face during picking someone up. Even then, just leave the guy slugged and chase the would-be saver. Might get bitched at by the survivors for slugging, but fuck em. I, personally, only ever see the perk being used like once every 6 or 7 matches anyway, so it's really not that big of a deal.

  10. Idk if it’s OP but I do think it’s unfair in some situations. Idk if that makes any sense but to word it better, it’s more situational and less consistent than something like Sprint Burst but when it does get value, some of the saves it can let you get are just complete BS where the killer physically does not have time to react to what is happening.

Because realistically with the speed it gives, the killer can’t really be fairly expected to check like half the map away. However, a lot of games it just won’t get any value because the situations where it becomes stupid don’t present themselves. Maybe it’s my dark souls brain talking but I think with any kind of saves, it should be preventable by the killer by them having, you know, a good level of external awareness. The sheer amount of speed and duration Background Player gives kind of goes against that because, ultimately, we’re all only human and it’s not really fair to expect the killer to take into account the fact a survivor halfway across the map can zoom over with Background Player and completely alleviate all their pressure.

I don’t necessarily know if it needs a nerf because like you said, you’re gonna get way more value running any other exhaustion perk in the vast majority of games, but when it does work like I’ve seen some absolute nonsense. It’s such a hard one lol

  11. BP is not no

    BP + Flashbang yes

You literally cannot counter BP + Flashbang unless you are actively looking for survivor within 24 meters of your down, which can be a major time waster for every single down. Does not matter if you look at wall, you will get blinded because that's how flashbang works.

Since you can't really "nerf" flashbang, you have to nerf BP to make it not uncounterable.

Being able to counter something in my eyes means you can go perkless and still go against something (Snuff boons, cleanse hex's, etc). You cannot dodge flashbang + BP without Lightborn

  12. i mainly play solo survivor nowadays and I very rarely see background player being used in game. I almost never see it. When I do see it though its usually used to get a flashlight save and not a pallet save.

  13. Hello mr headace. You like to comment on other peoples videos and also give your own views. Ive found a video that relates to my experience of dbd by easily 90%. You can find this video by searching the worse game ive ever played and look for the dbd log..
Im certain that this will fall on deaf ears but i would love to hear what your own views are about the issue's he brings up.

And a more personal message i use to love dbd it was my go to game for years. So if you get a 50% respectful way of just saying this is way the games is this way. And also way its necessary for things to work that way i promise ill promote your channel and all that you request me to as well.

Please atleast watch the video, and really think befor you dismiss this message.. 🤞
    Thanks for reading.

  14. 99,9% ( no joke ) is not good enough to use sprint burst to its potential, let alone 99'ing it for when it matters most.

Nobody hated it, because no1 really encountered it … but with BG Player its literally for free / casual.

Although i dont think its OP or problematic, i can atleast see where people are coming from.

  15. I've seen maybe two games with Background Player… And it only worked on me once. I got flashlight saved the first time I ever saw background player… I don't know who I was playing but I feel like it was Demogorgon on Lampkin Lane.

Then the second time I know it was Sadako on Garden of Joy because this time the person kept tried flashlight saves or pallet saves and I had a terrible match the last game so I wasn't taking this one too seriously. I saw them hovering for the flashlight, did the old spin-a-roo into pick up and they missed the flashlight. Then, they were hovering again, this time for a pallet save. They were really close so I chase them for a little bit, pick up the downed person as they come running back at near Mach-2 at this point but I don't know if they got stuck or something but I just barely slink out of the pallet when I hear it slamming behind me. I did have Agitation on… Yes, as Sadako, I was doing some Scourge Hook build or something… So that helped quite a bit.
