Plenty of times now, we have seen DLCs in DBD completely break the game, whether it’s release Spirit or release Decisive Strike – DLCs have been needed to perform as best as you possibly can.

CORRECTION: At 7:56 – Old teachable perks were tied to hitting level 30, 35 and 40, not hitting prestige 1, 2 and 3. That was how the blood cosmetics used to work, not the perks!
Wait it still on debate? I mean every dbd player can tell you very quick that dbd are P2W, the argument about shrine of secret? Hah, does any killer can stalk like myers? Does anyone can instadown using 1 chainsaw? Like i mean it is quite obvious that this was the case
It's a difficult one though because Licensed DLCs cost money for BHVR to have in the game, so they kinda need to charge for them. A lot of other games don't have this issue. To be quite honest, now that most non-licensed killers and survivors cost 4500 irri shards, I'd be happy for shrine to only include perks from licensed killers and survivors, so that it's easier to get the otherwise unobtainable (without paying) perks to circumvent the issue with licensed killers and survivors needing to cost money.
I'm glad you specified "meta" builds, I been playing killer and survivor since 2019 and never paid a Dlc outside "Saw" because i like play as Pig. I remembre the old prestige, when i discoverd that I will lost all progress and objects I refuse to prestige any character.
It’s not pay to win but it’s definitely all about money.
DBD is not pay to win, its pay to convenience:
-All perks can be obtained via the shrine of secrets, you just need to check perk rotation week by week Its just a matter of doing your research to know which ones are good and why as a newer player.
-You can unlock all original characters and the perks that come with them with shards/BP as well.
-Cosmetics do not effect gameplay, the darkest and quietest survivors in the game are original survivors that are either default or unlockable via shards. If you want a dark look go with Claudette, if you want to be more quiet by default go with Ace and if you want complete silence go with Jake to unlock Iron Will.
-The best killers in the game are unlicensed and has always been the case. Nurse Spirit or Blight and your golden
Only thing holding you back is time and grinding, buying those DLC packs just reduces how long it takes to obtain them.
Even on release day of a character bare minimum you need to put in the time to Prestige the character to unlock T1 versions of the perk in the blood web and then put in BP till you unlock T3 versions of the one you want
I feel like talking about old metas and features from 6 years ago when the game was significantly newer and
less known is a bit dishonest to the question…
The question isnt "WAS DBD pay to win 6 years ago" it's "IS DBD pay to win", and to that you really cant say it is objectively
Could they update the shrine? add more perks to the rotation day to day, reduce shard cost and/or shard rewards? have the Shrine reset daily instead of every week? could they do a perk pass to add more universal perks for new players?
yes. but the argument isnt about convenience its about whether the game is outright requiring you to pay real world money in order to obtain at all which it doesn't.
The only thing you pay for in DBD is for is Cosmetics and Liscensed Killers, since all Survivors play exactly the same perkless
Off the record is also another reason why the "chains of hate" dlc was purchased. I do't blame you for not covering it though because it isn't too overpowered.
These days, killers are pay to win. Any new survivor that is released these days has the most underwhelming perks. I bought both Lara and the BG3 character, and they're both shit.
yes
I'm 2 minutes in where does he talk about shrine of secrets
It’s incredibly de-incentivising for new players such as myself to bother getting into this game. There is so much that you have to learn and buy that I feel like I’ll just abandon the game in a few weeks.
ive put hundreds of hours into dbd and i tell new players to stay away because the base game is terrible and youll have to spend loads of money and also grind to even start having fun
I see title and im gonna scream YES
as a still new 500 hour player who paid a lot, its so p2w its insane
Im a little confused, this video is about paid DLC perks/killers but the majority of the characters in this video are original killers/survivors, which means they're free…
I’ll save your time, the answer is yes
20:02 I love you for saying that
it is , killers have to have pay to win perks , i will ever put money in the game again i stopped at pyramid head and if i want those needed perk to even try to win i have to buy thosr dlc
When it comes to killers/survivors gameplay I don’t think it’s pay to win you just need to learn how to loop and mind game but with perks it’s absolutely broken
The game used to be pay to win sure but nowadays i dont think thats necessarly the case with so many perks available with shards you almost always have smth to improvise with. However it would be nice if they made it so that the shrine sells only perks from licensed characters since either way you have to pay for them. There is not much bhvr can do with licenses to make them more available. It is not their content afterall
calling blights exploits "techs" was fair as we didnt know they were bugs until they were removed
I don't think there's a debate here. As much as I love the game, pay to win is defined as gaining an ADVANTAGE by spending real money. This includes progressing faster because players who pay get to their goal before others do, just like paying for an XP buff to reach level cap before others, thus gaining the ADVANTAGE the level cap gives. Even if F2P players can still get there, it means they spend much more time playing at a disadvantage. I have 1500 hours in the game and all my survivors except 4 are level 3. That means I got every tier 3 perk on every survivor in 1500 hours. A player who hasn't spent a dime on the game would be nowhere NEAR that in 1500 hours. This means they wouldn't have nearly as many tools to use in the game, meaning they can't play at the same level as me. This is classic pay to win, THERE IS NO ARGUMENT HERE.
Wait wait wait… How does the video starts talking how there is DLC or new characters you can earn with the in game currency and how we would be counting 14 that actually cost you money… Then mention the ones that can be earned as Pay to win?
Imagine waiting 3 weeks for a perk from the weekly shop, and then nothing you want shows up on the 4th week. I'd quit. That's an EA strategy to make it seem like buying the dlc is somehow reasonable.
Bro has beef with Blight for some reason💀
If you ask me, it's not necessarily pay to win. It's actually "pay not to do a massive grind" and as for licensed characters well you just have to pay money
took me like 10 minutes trying to figure out where the background music came from. I knew I heard it somewhere
