pls, not some ppl in the comments still acting dense…… I just wish ppl would stop playing this game like it has a comp mode, it would be more fun for everyone
I've never blamed survivors for rushing the objective I blame the devs for allowing 4/5 minute games to even happen. I used to play at night when I was talking to friends waiting in que we used to joke about how the que times were longer than the previous match we played lol
I will add my definition of "Gen Rush", it being spreading out, doing gen by themselves while they have the option of doing it together on different parts of the map, not even giving a chance for a 3gen, the way survivors are with the W and second chance, chases can be long, even picking up a survivor and carrying them to a hook takes around 10 seconds, 12% of a gen just hooking a downed survivor, so not only a singular chase cost you 3 gens that you couldn't and didn't know the status of the situation, if you have BBQ and see 3 survivors on 3 different gen, even if you have gen regression, walking to any of them would just result on them being done in your face. Then there is the phrase "Just Pressure Gens", but the information you have is so little, and pressuring a gen will just start another chase that will last the same amount of time and the person you were previously chasing will heal so fast due to boons that leaving the chase is actually meaningless. And the phrase "What else are survivors supposed to do?", well… survivors get twice the amount for the Objective category if they work together, at the end of the game, survivors have the max of 19k and min of 13k while escaping, no pips and the bloodpoints they spent with the items they brought wasn't even restored in the match. The fun of Dead by Daylight is the interactions with the killer, but most survivors in high mmr barely cares about it, just holding M1 and having one to none chases and receiving an escape by their crutch perks whenever they are in peril
Agreed 👍
Personally I hate gen rushing (yes I am using it properly; as when ever I play Killer I go against Survivors with at least 2 BNP's a game and have 3 gens done in the first 2 minuets) and I don't disagree that it is a perfectly legit strategy for Survivors. I personally feel it takes half the fun out of the game. It is in my eyes like being tunneled by a killer and taken out before 1 gen is even completed. You're taking a player out of the game before they have a chance to play it. Personally if I win off a gen rush when I solo queue I always honor the Killer for sticking it through to the end. I also hate survivors who gen rush then teabag and trash talk after winning.
Camping and tunneling is pretty much necessary now, so killers, just go out there and do it. How else should killers play? Give each survivor a turn on the hook, three times? Haha, screw that noise! Sure fire way to lose the game.
I agree with the general message, but the whole video kinda comes off as complaining, but then complaining about the DBD community complaining. Which i guess is par for the course since you are also in this community. The videos have been taking a kinda more negative tone lately. Is everything all good, man?
The thing is that genrushing is a thing, and remember, its always subjective. Similar to toxicity everybody's idea of genrushing is different. For me its just prove thyselves and BNPs and shit.
Gen rushing is rare….except when I play killer. Idk what kind of curse I have on me but I always seem to get the groups with prove thyself and BNPs all across the board. I wish I could catch a break 😅
I had a perfect match that represent gen rushing and tunneling.
A 4 man swf on random Haddonfield. The strongest looper has a flashlight, and other 3 has BNP. Their perks is proof thyself and killer detecting perk like dark sense and hiding perk.
This is their strat:
1. Hide from killer
2. Do gens if not in chase
3. If in chase, run straight towards another side of the map, and pre throw every pallet.
They did heal, but they certainly spend 0 effort to find totem. My undying and devour is a few meters beside their working gens(not within LOS), but they survived till the match ends. I had 6 hooks at the end, with 1 person killed. They left as soon as the gen is done. No attempt is made to save the slugged person without knowing I had devour.
Of course, it is my fault to going for different person everytime I see them. I should have gone for the person with toolbox and tunnel one of them out. I also should camp the hook when they only unhook at last seconds after doing gens.
The game is very very very boring.
The main issue is there's no universal definition shared by the community for the term gen rushing. The community is so entitled that everyone seems to have come up with their own definition, but if you attribute the meaning to the obvious implication it's not that complex. The meaning is literally in the word.
Mostly agree. The difference I’d say is that tunneling can be used as a result of being salty and not because they want more mmr. Because they really don’t like one particular survivor. Gen rushing can’t really be used to target the killer like other acts (teabagging flashlights and other things used to upset the killer) but yes tunneling can be used as a legit strat
gen rushing defo exists … but i agree more with the survivor Pov.
tunneling exists regardless of gen rush and is most likely the reason the gens get done so quick in the first place because u only pressure 1 survivor.
however even if u pressure multiple survivors and push them off gens theres always a possibilty that they refuse to heal or do other things like vaccines, totems or challenges.
gens are only 1 out of 3/4 categories u have to take care of if u want to pip and get points/shards in a reasonable time or else u are Que'ing and loading into games much longer which is not efficient.
theres 2 sides of the medal however … i always try to be a fair killer and overall play for hooks over kills, even though i rarely play the top 5 killer.
i can understand if u gen rush vs pve or oppressive killer because its not fun and u might as well get out asap to maybe get a more fun killer next game.
if i see a hillbilly and people only focus on gens im always kinda mad because i wanna enjoy that match … whats the point of getting out only to get a 4 anti gen nurse next time?
i play alot of Pig lately, a very low tier killer and i get headpops quite frequently because despite me being Pig they still prio gens over RBT's …. insane.
People gen rushing isn't a bad thing. Gen rushing itself is also not a bad thing but the speed in which they are being done with optimal gameplay is unfun. It makes boring games, it isn't considered a victory for the survivors and the killer usually deranks because of it.
I have heard Gen Efficiency to cover the trigger word “rushing”. Gen rushing is gen rushing. No game is supposed to be done in 5 min. Hence, gens were rushed.
Look. I agree with your sentiments, to a point. However, you cannot sit there and tell me that getting tunneled or face camped is not annoying as hell. Or getting swarmed by 4 guys with flashlights whose goal is quite literally to ruin your time. That's the reason why I dislike these "strategies" because 9/10 it's being done because the player simply wants to ruin the other side's time. Writing these things off and saying they aren't an issue is turning a blind eye to a core problem with the game. Calling everyone who says these are issues "entitled" or "toxic" is ignorant and narcissistic. I'm not gonna sit here and write a fuckin novel about why the "just do gens" or "learn to pressure" arguments are invalid. Also, calling everyone children isn't exactly spreading positivity, now is it.
I actually see it from both sides i started playing DBD as survivor only and recently started paying killer as Bubba I know how it feels to play as a survivor and be tunneled and faced camped and as a killer I know how it feels to be chasing a survivor and see gens popping back to back and u still haven’t Injured or downed any of the survivors yet so I do get the frustration on both sides
I always say to survivor mains “if gen rushing doesn’t exist, then neither does tunneling”
Genrushing isn't the survivors fault, certain killers just cannot deal with certain maps, there's a reason why all the best killers have amazing mobility. Also you kept saying the chase goes for a long time because you got outplayed, but you can hit someone and they use the speed boost to get across the entire map and if you aren't a blight or nurse you can't do anything
tbh yeah i 100% agree with this i get a lot of games where i die on my first hook bc my teammates do gens without trying to save me when the killer isn’t even camping, that’s called gen rushing but getting gens done quickly cuz the killer is chasing one person the whole game is not gen rushing but for some reason so many people say it is…
It’s like you’re talking to two 5 year olds trying to teach them how to share and get along😂😭
I have criticisms. Not just of this video but you as a content creator.
On one hand, gen rushing, tunneling, and camping are all very valid strategies, but the scenarios in which they become toxic vary. For an example, it's very toxic to face camp/tunnel at 5 gens left just to get someone out of the game. I get maybe, efficiency-wise it may seem okay, but it's literally purposefully ruining their game to make yours better. Likewise, gen rushing is pretty toxic in the regard that sometimes, the killer just may not have the means to deal with it, so it's a long wait for a short game.
Why this matters is when you say "people refuse to see other's perspectives", you refuse to see other people's perspectives. It's unfun to wait 5-10m for a game just to get tunneled and face camped. It's unfun to wait 5m for a 3m game. It's unfun to go against survivors you can't really catch or killers you can't counter effectively. And when it comes down to it, there are multiple definitions of fun for everybody, and a strategy that makes you laugh can just as easily be the tipping point to push people into toxicity.
Lately, you've had a lot of success criticizing toxicity but really, you're just getting people at their worst, telling them to essentially "pep up or else" and you don't even realize how you come across that way. You had a month of face camping Leatherface did you not? How many games do you think you've ruined? You said previously that you didn't like doing it, but why do it then? If it isn't fun for you, what you're effectively doing is making the game painful for both parties involved.
Other people paid for this game, and what makes a game fun for one party doesn't make it fun for the other.
There's a reason why it's difficult to balance multiplayer games in general, but the "correct" mindset to have is to maximize fun for both parties. Like making DS an actual anti-tunneling perk, or making BT always activate on unhooks. What both changes were, were an attempt to maximize fun for both parties.
What we as players can do though, is be mindful of how our playstyles can be perceived as unfun. Doesn't necessarily mean to change it, but it does mean not to be upset when people don't like it.
What you as a content creator can do though, is reevaluate your position on toxicity- if it's a brief moment of pure rage, probably not the best thing to bring up for hundreds of people to see. If it's something people are actively trying to change about themselves, wouldn't it be detrimental to bring attention to it? And in the case of Matthew Santoro (apologies if I spelt that wrong), you prescribed beliefs you knew he didn't have because of in what ways he expressed his toxicity, such as saying he was misogynistic for saying the w slur. Your initial video, completely fair, second video was just another gunshot wound to an untreated injury. And your third video about him genuinely comes across as "I have the power to change your life, be aware of that". Is that really how you want to be perceived?
Things to think about as you move forward.
This is why i just turn off chat and dont allow people to leave comments. Survivor mains can get bent on how i play. I try not to tunnel and be crappy but it happens and I just play how i play. People really gotta grow up.
Thank you for telling people how it is over a video game. Wish everyone can just agree to not take this game so seriously. 💔
I just wanted to play artist and got paired with two toolboxes of purple with the brand new part and everyone using prove thyself. I got 4 hooks and they all had unbreakable and borrowedcds. They all escaped
Every time i am playing at lvl1 killer every swf with genrush build gonna get to my lobby.
bruh bhvr,thx for this matchmaking
Big Fan Man… Just saying… Jenifer Aniston is HOT😜
This is what I tell people, its not arguing with them, its perspective.
Gen rushing isn't TUNNELING gens, that is a thing, but its not inherently GEN Rushing. Gen rushing is when you bring in toolboxes, brand new parts, prove thyself, etc, any of the combination =>2 survivors do it, thats when it becomes a "Gen Rush" game. EVERY other instance is not gen rushing, its survivors playing efficiently. Theres a huge diff. It's the same as survivors calling Killers Tunnelers/Campers when they arent. It's a bogus term that got adopted by the DBD community but people misuse it as an excuse. Gen Tunneling and Gen Rushing are different.
I always thought that gen rushing is people who run brand new parts resilience and multiple prove thyselves and not healing whole game. If you're chasing a survivor and 2 gens get done within 5 seconds on each other it's your fault for not pressuring gens.
It's really funny, I haven't really heard the term "gen rushing" in so long I almost forgot it was a thing. But I'm really glad you made this video about it because I've seen people get super salty over survivors "gen rushing" and it was ridiculous each time. Any match where a killer complains we gen rushed it was a killer that ran after one person like what else are we supposed to do lol.
Well it only takes 80 seconds for a single survivor to complete a generator. If survivor1 manages to run you for 60 seconds that’s 3 gens that are at 75%. You can stop survivor2 from completing a gen. Survivor3and4 pop their gens. Survivor 3 goes for save. Survivor4 gets on the gen that survivor2 was on. Survivor1and3 hop on a gen. When you get your second hook. Survivor 4 has already popped his gen so now you could go after him or try and go for either survivor1or3. Let’s say you chase 3. 1 stays on the gen 4 saves 2, 4 and 2 get on a gen and by the time you get your third hook all your gens are done.
If that’s not enough of a depiction of advantage then here it is more simple 60 seconds for each hook 12 hooks is 720 seconds of the killers time total. 5 gens 80 seconds each is only 400 seconds divide that amongst the four survivors that’s 100 seconds each.
imo, gen rushing is a thing but it's the devs' fault for not incentivising survivors from doing anything else, rather than the players' fault. Like, sure, you can get totems, and chests, and…that's it aside from direct reactions to what the killer's done (unhooking, getting chased, healing). But, why wouldn't you just do the former between when the gens are done and when the gates are open?
It'd be like getting mad that the killer does little other than try to kill survivors – the fuck else are they gonna do?
but also sitting in queue for 10 minutes only to get a 3 minute game because all 4 survivors have giga toolboxes is about as fun as sitting in queue for 13 minutes
It is crazy some people don't think you can rush. I'll go into a match not even thinking about gens because i want to actually play and experience the game, not just escape. I wanna get some head ons, blast mines or do chases, let my friends get flashlight saves and whatnot, but if i get a killer my team doesn't wanna deal with we will all just commit to gens to try to get to a more fun match. As for tunneling its annoying depending on the scenario for me, if you are at five gens and just trying to make sure i die it will be a little annoying, but if you are on your last gen or two i get it.
I used to be one of those players who would always hate when a killer would face/proxy camp around 2-1 gens left. Now, after playing killer myself for a good while, I fully understand that sometimes you just want to secure a kill and it has really changed the way I look at the game. Playing both survivor and killer has really allowed to properly enjoy the game and make some good friends along the way.
I play a lot of survivor and gen rush is real af 😂 this game is really survivor sided
SpooknJukes: "The DBD community is just up it's own ass!"
DBD Community: "He's onto us! We need to go…deeper!"
As a survivor main i do believe gen rushing is a thing, but i agree, it isnt often. The only time i say "oh we're genrushing" is when like 3 gens pop at relatively the same time. But for that to happen, 3 survivors would need to be on their own gens and have, correct me if im wrong, 80 seconds uninterrupted to do those gens. I dont ever plan with my swf to gen rush. We just kinda play to have fun.
Love this video. People just need to chill. I’ve gotten so much chill since subscribing to your videos. Like yeah sometimes I get tired and frustrated especially when I don’t play well but like 90% it’s like okay? Let’s start a new next match 🙂
I was told by a salty survivor that the killers job is to go on chases and not wait around a hook when there is 2 other survivors near and you have starstruck activated😂😂😂
Here's a crazy concept.. why not play the game however you want and just have fun with it? 🤔
Tru
What you are describing is death squads not gen rushing, rarely happens but it exists, it is not a bad thing just like camping and tunneling.
Death squads were a thing, I've personally only seen one, I had a team finish my match in like 4 minutes, they opened the door and left the two on hook.
Gen rushing is just doing gens efficiently.
gen rushing, tunneling and camping is thrown around way to much, but all liable in certain situations. For genrushing, if 3 people are dead on hook and there are 3 gens left, then survivors may band together to get the gens done quicker and get an escape and avoid death. For Tunneling, its well used if its near endgame and there is an injured person off hook. Camping is the exact same. If its endgame and you haven't got a kill, it's wise that once you catch someone to camp them in order to at least secure one kill if that's all you can get. These are only just examples that I can think of and I'm sure there is way more examples out there. But once again, all that has happened is people have watched their favorite dbd streamer or YouTuber use these words within context and began to throw these words around loosely to anything that remotely sounds like the original situation. And in the end, unless they are bming (which in my opinion is stunning and teabagging as a survivor for no reason or slugging at endgame and bodyblocking as killer for no reason) all three options are viable strategies and the only reason you would get mad at that is if you are a noob3 wannabe and and cries camping for no reason or a otzdarva wannabe who blames swfs everytime they lose. but as this is the internet i must emphasize this is my opinion. not a fact. great video btw <3
The way I see it, it's just doing the objective as fast as you want. I get how people can get mad at tht but it's the OBJECTIVE
