This one gets very rambly so apologies in advance. In this video we’re delving into a risky topic of discussion. I’m giving my thoughts on SWF in DbD, and whether or not it is an issue. We talk a bit about the overall balance of the game and give some general discussions on the impact of comms to gameplay. We also g off topic a bit and refer to competitive DbD as a comparison, and we also talk about how the horrible matchmaking changes players views on the game a lot of the time. Enjoy.

  1. Here lies my issue: I soloqueue to this day about half of my playtime because my friends don't play the game as religiously as I do, I currently have close to 4.6k hours, I wouldn't call myself neccessarily 'good' or 'the best', I do call myself 'experienced', I have introduced many friends and new players into this game, but no matter what; at the end of the day, they don't look at the game the same way I do, and won't actively 'seek out' ways to improve at the game (think guides & obscure game mechanics that can save your life)

Dead by Daylight is one of those games that is Easy to pick up, but hard to master.

I still enjoy soloqueue, as IMO in soloqueue you will learn to no longer depend on your teammates, gonna be honest we all know that one or more times your teammate was the real killer instead of the actual killer, or you've been looping the killer for 5 gens and your teammates die trying to be a hero and save a single hooked survivor from the grasp of a killer trying to secure one kill, or cluelessness of a single or multiple survivors that resulted in getting three-genned.

The randomness and unpredictibility of soloqueue is your greatest learning tool as you can never be more prepared for a not-so-standard situation or play.

For our social gamers out there; no, soloqueuers arent better than you, just slightly more addicted 😉

  2. "comp player" this dude has ruin/undying and corrupt pop on nurse and spirit. It also looks like he's playing against randoms? That one dude was rank 16.

"there are a lot of restrictions" … ruin/undying, corrupt, pop on spirit and nurse…

The only thing that is 'overpowered' in dbd is the lack of competent matchmaking and terrible spawns when it comes to number of pallets and loops, and windows that spawn. Some games it literally doesn't matter what side you are playing. If you get max pallets and really good loops going against anything other than nurse and spirit, you're probably going to win if you have half a brain. Same for the killer if the survivors get trash loops and minimal pallets or get shit tons of dead zones, the killer can be legally blind and playing clown and get a 4k.

  3. I think the right solution is the killer should get a BP bonus depending on how many are in a swf. Like 2 man swf lobby give 50%, 3 swf 75%, 4 man swf 100% bonus to bp for the killer. Its not fair to punish the swf, but it can be super stressful and unfun for the killer. So at least throw them a bone for going up against a harder challenge. Seems fair to me change my mind. That and add in a communication system like apex legends, to bring up solo que to almost swf coms.

  4. The thing about balance is… Look tournaments for example… these are about camping, tunneling, slugging. They just play like a D constantly. So is it really balance if this needs to be done just to get their couple of kills? Im just saying that the game is not really layed out to play nice if you want to win against a good group… Is it? I dont know about balance because i cant like the style you have to drop to reach balance.

  5. In average play, SWF is significantly stronger than solo queue, since, as you said, you suddenly gain access to a lot of information that you wouldn't have otherwise (unless you're an amazing survivor player, but even so, some things you can't predict just with game sense), and I'd rather want that they balance the game around the average survivor and not the top percentile of players.

I think it would be ok if they just give the survivors some sort of limited chat that they could use to communicate through premade sentences, like "I'm going for the rescue" or "Follow me" or something that.

  6. I 1000% agree with you man! I'm currently at 775 hours rn (not brand new but not incredibly experienced) and I feel you when it come to matchmaking conditioning you to think a certain way about how good you are. Although, with me, i consistantly go against people with double my hours and lose horribly many times in a row so the game has conditioned me into thinking im shit at the game evnen though i make it to red ranks as killer every month. This has severely damaged my enjoyment of the game since, now, whenever I boot up the game, it just feels like im logging on to lose some matches as killer or be the first to die as survior.

  7. I agree running solo is trash I don't know how many times I have went into struggle after a 2 to 3 gen chase, or I get unhooked and no heals. Now killer I know I'm not trash I just need more improvement I feel helpless feeling like I played the best I can and still sometimes lose, but I still make the choice not to camp or tunnel I'm on that blames the survivors or the game for my lose even thoug I know I need improvement, it's so frustrating knowing I'm good but I feel like played decent. I don't know Tofu I think what your saying is correct now hearing you say this might help my mindset when I do lose. I'm on console and I have been trying to practice blight and he's not so good on console or maybe it's just me hell I used to be able to beat good teams with nurse can't do it anymore I switch to Freddy and I think I have won more with Freddy than losses, I'm just trying to figure out what I could do better.

  8. Tofu summary: gives a opinion that dbd red rank survivors use telepathy and comms don't matter at that level, he's sorry for upsetting SWFs… lmao

Tofus response, good players just know without comms…………
