Is The Survivor Activity HUD Healthy For Dead by Daylight?

Read more Dead by Daylight ➜ https://deadbydaylight.mgn.gg

The Survivor Activity HUD was mechanic introduced to Dead by Daylight in the 6.5.0 Mid-Chapter update which “features an indicator that appears whenever they or their teammates engage in an activity.” This system served to bridge the gap between solo-queue and survive with friends survivor teams to better balance killers accordingly. This begs the question, how has this change affected Dead by Daylight, and has BHVR’s efforts worked both practically and statistically?

  1. As a killer main i can feel this and honestly, as soon as the survivor HUD has been implemented (poorly first day without gen progress) theres been a clear drop in killer mains… you see alot of new killers atm.

I had the opinion that the HUD adds a little bit of info for survivors, aswell as allowing SWFS to being more exact with comms, but i didnt think that it gave too much of an advantage to a team, SWF or not… but i now believe this is because of my pace playing killer… not being lame, its just my personal playstyle, most times i 4k before 3 gens are even done as a trickster main (My MMR is more than decent look up my stats MADMAN-Kryptic) I AM CONSTANTLY ON THE GAS…. if you are playing more casually as killer or are forced to play at a slower pace, the survivors seem to have the time and mind to use the HUD more to there advantage.

Honestly i think if they changed the progression bars on the icons that pop up for survivors to be more "vague" it would be more healthy.
New players, old survivor mains are loving the game atm because 90% of the killers are AFK or under 300 hours… There was a point like this when boons had too be reworked and i think BHVR are gunna have to wipe whatevers in there eyes out because… im worried

  2. Nurse didn't even really get nerfed, just a slap on the wrist. And I agree, the HUD changes should've rolled out along with buffs for killers. Now solo queue is stronger, SWF has instant info without even having to ask for it, and killer hasn't really changed at all.

God knows how long it's going to take BHVR to make any significant changes to overall killer strength, and killers will continue to struggle (gen regression perks notwithstanding, though Eruption is getting nerfed) in the meantime.

  3. It definitely helps, especially with efficiency on knowing what gens to do now. Granted this still requires common game sense(or bond). More often than not though it just serves as a way to see who isn't doing anything other than touching bones.

  4. The HUD is a info QoL, and whilst it can be a big advantage it's worth depends on the player. Some players use it to simply confirm their bias and complain about what their teammates are doing, so obviously some people aren't able to use the info to a positive end.
I debated the lack of killer buffs alongside a survivor orientated update, but I think they're waiting for the data to come back from it and then work out balance from there. The Hud isn't a tangible change in the same way a buff to player speed or perks is, so BHVR had an intent but no real knowledge on how much it may affect the game.
