  1. It could be really cool if prestige would be an indication of dedication on a certain character instead of a sign of heavy grinding. Grinding, where you don't even need to use the character you want to level up. I had an idea with a new or separate prestige system, that could work like a 4th 5th and 6th prestige (although I'm sure it would be better separated, and it could be called something else) where you could rank up only by either escaping as a survivor or by getting a merciless killer, and after the 125th/250th/500th (of course you can change the numbers, but I imagined this as a long term goal, kinda like with Hearthstone's hero portraits) win you would get a piece of cosmetic like in the current prestige system. There is a problem with that though, because people are able to just derank and farm low rank for wins where it's much easier to escape or to get a merciless killer, so maybe it should only start counting the wins in red ranks.

  2. It's been time for years. But BHVR wants us to grind our asses off. The whole game is about grinding perks over and over again. It is kind of rewarding but actually completely uselss and its only use is to make us spend more time with the game. I could imagine people would play less if they could get perks unlocked for every char once they unlocked them once. I wouldn't mind that either.

  3. I understand this is an unbelievably niche reason to like perk tiers but I play Pig and if you keep Whispers at tier 2 it will tell you you are close to survivors just beyond your terror radius so you can crouch before they can hear your heartbeat. If all perks are tier 3 then that only works if you also take monitor and abuse which I don't like wasting a slot on.

  4. Imagine spending thousands of hours to unlock every perk for every killer just so you can actually play the game it's meant to be played.

Progression should feel rewarding. It shouldn't feel like a chore…

  5. Yes, YES! Its one thing we all agree on, but they wont do it I assume, since it keeps people grinding… which is kinda weird since they have enough perks to keep the grind up…
That being said, we ve been asking for a perk search bar for ages, and thats not coming.

  6. Perk tiers should have been removed back when Nightmare came out. They were already unnecessary then. I have friends who legit don't want to play anymore when they find out how big the grind is and how perk heavy the game, and especially killer is.

  7. I like the idea of the prestiged survivor getting more blood point offerings. Cause i literally never prestige anyone since its not worth it. But i would totally prestige a survivor if i could get more points with them

  8. In a lot of games prestige increases xp gain or something like that, maybe we could do something similar like increased BP gain on prestige characters, or if they don't wanna buff BP gain they could make the bloodweb nodes cheaper on prestige characters that'd at least give people some incentive to prestige if they don't care about the bloody cosmetic, and help people get more perks after prestige.

  9. I think the thing that stops BHVR from removing perk tiers is that new players who own no DLC (and thus unlock few or no teachables) would be maxed out by level 17 for survivor (the 14 base perks + the 3 teachables from the character they are leveling) and level 15 for killer compared maxing out in the 40s like the current system works for them.

Certainly the argument could be made that this could encourage them to buy more DLC (which is expensive for how many there are) to get more stuff to grind for, but at the same time I guess the argument could be made that it could lower retention levels since fresh players wouldn't have anything to push for after only a small amount of play time, would then get bored, and thus leave?

I myself think tiers should be removed but this is really the only reason I can think of as to why BHVR doesn't do it (outside of just not wanting to listen to the long-time player base).

  10. Maybe they should implement a mechanic where you unlock your perks while in a match. You start with 0 and can upgrade up to 5 perks the longer the match goes by some mechanic.

Similar to League of Legends. You start a match without anything and have to grind till you get your powerspikes. But of course a bit faster in dbd since matches are shorter. But it could bring a new way of gameplay and long term motivation for players, because each match would feel unique instead of the over and over montone matches just to grind bloodpoints for perks on each char.

  11. Removing Perk Tiers doesn’t work, as new Players would end up maxing out on Perk on their first character(s) before even reaching level 50.
In addition to that IMO that is a very lazy way of reducing the grind & is way too significant (effectively cutting the grind by two thirds) – i would much rather they address the grind by adding new gamemechanics and ways of earning BP / rework the ones we have right now.
The Tomes are a great example fir this i think – they reduce the grind by awarding you bonus BP and they add a new gameplay feature in form of challenges.
Not to mention that such a huge change as removing Perk Tiers would call for a Legacy action 2.0 to happen so people like me, who went through the grind and prestiged, don’t just get shafted and get something for the thousands of hours we put into this now no longer existing thing.

In short, i want the Devs to fight the grind by adding new and interesting things to the game instead of just cutting away something we currently have.

As fir Prestige, i was thinking about being able to select one Add On / Offering / Item of a certain rarity for each level that would be guaranteed in the next Blood Web.

  12. I saw a comment saying make perk levels correspond with the prestige level and the level isn't downgraded for prestiging. Like you get BBQ prestige 1 and you get it again prestige 2. Then 2nd prestige would have BBQ level 2 but you still have to re-unlock it. I don't think BHVR would be kind enough to completely remove the grind

  13. I know one counter arguement is what about some perks that are arguably better at the lower tiers. For instance blast mine tier 1 lasts 35 seconds. So if you say finish the gen you get the refund quicker. That and its up more consistenly. Then make your choice tier 1 lasts 40 seconds so when you down the exposed your not waiting so long. Fairly good on a killer like wraith who doesn't need a 60 second exposed. Id love to be able to choose between 1-3 still but just you buy the perk itself and choose the tier manually.

  14. One thing I'd like is a monthly rotation of map offerings. Rare is a bloated category for Bloodwebs so a specific rare is harder to get than anything at Ultra Rare or even Very Rare. Honestly I think that's why they put some of the best addons at green it's because they know it'll be hard to get lol

  15. i think there should be some sort of special cosmetic that you get for a character once you reach p3 on them that’s different from blood. it should be a whole new skin or something that isn’t available anywhere else, not even in the shop. I like the way payday 2 handles prestige, you get a token that lets you unlock a mask or weapon skin from this list of prestige only items.

  16. Agreed. Removing all perk tiers would also decrease the coding lines since you're removing a lot from it. It would be great and easier to clean up the spaghetti code we're all familiar with as of now.
