I get asked a lot about what killers I think need buffs/nerfs, so I talked about my view on killer balance in this game of Legion. Enjoy this gameplay commentary as the Legion in Dead by Daylight from my recent Twitch livestream!

  1. The best way I can describe DBD Killer balance is we're finally at a point where the mid-tier characters aren't bad Killers at all. Doctor, Cannibal, Nemesis, Demogorgon and even Wraith are all pretty balanced and fair. It's just when you stray too far up or down that the disparity becomes extremely noticeable, like comparing Nurse to Pig, or Spirit to Clown. There are also a bunch of Killers that feel extremely clunky and need motor improvements before they can be balanced properly (Twins & Myers for example).

  2. In the current state of the game, I wouldn't say any killer is "weak".

For a killer to be weak IMO, they have to be in a position where using their power most of the time either makes your gameplay worse or just the same as just playing an M1 4.6 killer without using their power.

What I like to say is that some killers have to deal with some bullshit that shouldn't exist or lack options for add-ons.

In that sense, the closest killer to be something considered "weak" in my perspective is Trapper. Trapper is the only killer in the game that might not get any advantage from their power for the entire match if they are a bad killer or if the survivors are good enough to keep track of all traps.

Legion is not even close to being weak, but they do have to deal with some bullshit and lack options for add-ons. 4-second fatigue, lack of speed, and some other stupid things on their base kit can punish the killer when they shouldn't be punished. Just today, I played a match against 4 really good survivors and they all had Sprint Burst and medkits on Gas Heaven, the lack of speed would just not let me get any second of advantage against the survivors, I almost never could hit multiple people in my power, and when I did (because medkits are broken and ofc totally off-topic), the other survivors would already be healed and working on gens. If you lose a game because survivors used their exhaustion well, then, of course, the survivors deserve the win, but if you lose a game just because they had it equipped and didn't really do anything special with it, then there is a problem with the killer's power.

Still, I don't consider Legion weak, using your power is still better than not using it, but the amount of bullshit that we have to deal with when playing this killer is a problem.

Idk if I managed to explain myself properly up to this point, but it's basically the same idea of saying a killer needs a quality of life update, not exactly a buff or rework to make them stronger.

A good recent example of a killer that got quality of life changes that really made them feel better and more consistent is Wraith. They removed all the bullshit that he had to deal with in his kit, and I see a lot of experienced players moving him from the bottom of D tier to top of B tier right now. Wraith wasn't exactly weak before, but the few problems in his kit made him feel inconsistent, problematic, etc.

Other examples of killer that I do not consider weak, just need a few tweaks to make them more consistent and less painful to play: Myers, Ghostface, Nemesis, Freddy, Hillbilly, Oni (I know his power is not weak, but he does feel problematic when you play against survivors who drop every single pallet in the map so you don't get your power).

My brain is melting right now and I apologize if anything I said is hard to comprehend.
