New Game Design In Dead By Daylight

This new game design is an interesting choice by the developers of Dead by Daylight since a lot of the new and reworked maps have gens that are spawning very close together. On some maps, the killer is able to protect 3 gens by standing in one spot. I wonder, is this mode on purpose or just a result of the maps getting smaller?

  1. Had this happen to me in one of my killer games, I was playing Huntress on Greenville Square and the survivors 3 genned themselves in such a way that I could literally just stand in 1 spot and watch all 3

  2. Yeah it’s definitely a problem because, I remember I was playing killer and I was losing bad. There were 3 gens already done and there was a really good survivor that was looping me. I eventually got the hook and was able to defend the gens surprisingly well. I got a 3k because of this but it’s a pain playing survivor with the gens so close.

  3. Not only that, but hooks are also awfully close to each other. Nowadays in dead by daylight if you have a wiggle off the killer’s grasp build it’ll be hard to pull off with how insanely close hooks are to each other, someone would have to take protection attacks for you and it would be such a waste and possibly get the other person hooked just for you to get off the killer’s grasp. Generators and hooks feel unfairly close now, it’s hard not to get hooked.

  4. It's not just because the maps are getting smaller (although that plays a huge part) the gen spawn locations are crap too. The original coal tower map for example, it can have a 5 gen spawn on one side of the map making it almost impossible to do any of those gens unless you are on come with someone.

  5. I recently Had a Match in the new ormond where 40% of the map was completely empty, and another 40% Had 5 generators, it was completely unplayable and all survivors, myself included, upon realising it ran at the Killer and gave up

  6. This is why deja vu is needed. Even if the killer isn't very good, if you 3 gen yourself and 2 gens are nearly touching, the game is essentially unwinnable. Those 2 REALLY close gens can be the end to any team if you're not careful

  7. On the rpd (resident evil) map i got a situation where i did all of the gen in the library (upper floor) and then just came a few steps to that room with the statue right next to the library from which u can drop down right next to the main hall and there was a gain there too so i finished them all up bc the killer went to the other side of the map

  8. i once had two gens next to each other in the street on garden of joy. they were at most 5 meters from each other. this was way before the gen kicking nerf so that game lasted about 40 minutes (skull merchant game, the 3rd gen was at the little gazebo thing so they were all in a pretty little line for the killer to patrol). most painful match i've been in, i just went afk and let her kill me 😭

  9. With some maps I can definitely feel like the Gens are more cramped up, but I can still tell that there are some really big maps. However, the hooks? I swear it's not positioning, it's more hooks than ever. I could notice it both as killer and survivor, taking protection hits and going down near the unhooked survivor doesn't mean anything because there are 2 hooks right next to each other: One for the unhooker and one for the unhooked!

  10. I thought I was going crazy when I noticed that. I remember running around certain maps for a while trying to defend gens, and now I could hold a three gen in almost any match I play

  11. I honestly don’t understand why they made the maps smaller. In old dbd everything was more spread out, making it fairer for both survivors and killers since hooks weren’t super close, gens weren’t super close. Now everything is so close together that trying is to hook save/wiggle out is nigh impossible, and good survivors can pretty much loop the killer the entire match with how close pallets are.
