I usually agree with you but I completely disagree on this one, first of all – it's not as simple as just let go, the power of pain resonance + dms is that it can easily make a strong start by the killer even more oppressive to the point it's impossible to come back. Yes you let go of the gen, but it's still 15% global regression and if the killer is getting multiple hooks this will happen in quick succession making doing a gen pretty much impossible in combination with downs + hook saves – your argument for DMS that if the killer comes you can't do the gen anyways? … if there's a 3 gen the survivors want to rush the gens asap .. so those 30 secs of the gen being blocked is actually pretty damm huge.
Also you failed to take into account solo queue which this perks makes even more miserable, anyways – the main point is that any perk that completely negates any comeback potential imo is not a healthy perk, not even mentioning solo queue.
I like pain resonance because it helps slower mobility killers, but the combo it has with DMS shouldn't be a thing – because it's too effective to the point of helping even bad killers win a game just because of the combo alone.
It's basically a crutch, and it decreases variety from the game – so I'm sad that you endorse them since you're a big part of the community, for me this means it's less likely to see any change which sucks.
Personally I believe DMS should always block the most progressed gen when you hook a survivor, but ONLY for 10 secs – this would give the killer time to get there and start a chase but it would also allow some counterplay from survivors and not just a waiting simulator till the gen gets unblocked.

The killer is given regression, information, and the ability to block a generator for several seconds if they scare survivors away.
The 'counter' of getting DMS only a few seconds AFTER SH:PR triggers isn't really the point – so much as it's a value problem.
The killer doesn't need to do much of anything to force a powerful lose/lose situation. Hooking another survivor gives them critical information and makes it so that any survivor that may be working on the generator must either abandon it to regress – or are holding a hot potato. It's massive value for normal gameplay.
I don't believe people are simply aggravated that there is no 'counter' to the scream aspect, but moreover that the combination synergizes so well as to create a strong effect in the killer's favor in a very cheap way. I feel that people would be a lot less aggravated by the combination of Pain Resonance regressed much less, didn't cause screaming, or if DMS had a slightly different trigger. The regression, the info, and the hot-potato effect are just too strong in conjunction.
And, even worse, even good survivor players mess up every now and again. Is letting go a bit too late or forgetting altogether a worthy enough sin as to deliver one of the strongest rebuttals in the game?
It's a bit much. While the counter is 'simple' – it's very lowly in terms of how effective it counters the power, and the amount of punishment for failure is completely outside the realm of reason.
Against nurse, blight, artist, even Billy or pinhead its actually super strong. This shit is banned on every tournament becouse its just so strong (even tho its so easy to counter lol survs are all on comms as well)
When you are playing soloq against a killer that runs it becouse lmao its strong and has no idea how to actually make value of it, then i’ll agree its weak and easy to counter. And yeah – eruption is very strong and hard to counter, but the fact that killer has to kick gen at first makes it sometimes hard to use. But if killer snowballs then yeah, eruption is really strong
This is probably the only time I will disagree pain res isn’t meant to stop gen progress it’s meant to buy you time while you get into another chase from having it knock someone off the gen.
The killer can only be at one place at one time so when you chase two people off a gen the other returns to said gen to complete it and then you down the other person you chased and then PR procs again and kills the gen a good amount I’m just saying this build has helped me a lot at high mmr and I could really tell the difference compared to bringing only COB

Pain Res + DMS is mostly a noob stomper before anything, I'm guessing the people complaining about it are in low-mid MMR and even if they know how to counter it their teammates don't and it sucks for them
I agree that it's pretty much useless once you know how to counter it though, Pain Res + Surveillance is a way better combo that'll help bring back the info aspect of Pain Res even if they know how to deal with it and I think it's more effective than Pain Res + DMS against competent survivors
I personally complain about it because while it is in THEORY an easy thing to counter. just a few hours ago I had a 3 stack swf get the combo slapped on them 4 times in one match. People don't do it.
It’s cause the Meghead doesn’t understand what is going on and blocking every Gen she touches without actually going to the hook (like come on team it’s a map wide survivor scream upon hook have a clue)

They need to revert the pop nerf because that perk was annoying as s#. The killer just comes and instantly regresses your gen 25% when you were just about done

I've had a shocking amount of success with Call of Brine, Overcharge and Brutal Strength. I don't know why, but it works.
Yeah, I noticed that it's easy to avoid by just not touching gen for a second when someone gets hooked.
I mean lets be honest, almost no killers can actually use Dead Man’s properly to the point they can get value. The only characters who’d be able to are Nurse, Blight, Spirit and Freddy. Not to mention you’re basically gambling on which gen it will be if you don’t directly see survivors. And lets not pretend that Pain Res activates on every hook, bad RNG makes or breaks the perk
Honestly, I feel like Value wise Deadlock does as much if not more than Pain Res and Deadman’s for the price of one perk. Its 30 seconds worth of the highest progressed Gen not being worked on and its guaranteed to be blocked unlike Dead Man’s and Pain Res. And get this, you actually get guaranteed info from Deadlock unlike that combo
If anything I think people just associate Toxicity with that combo, since a lot of people who run it are generally tunneling, camping tryhards who only see the game as a sweat fest

empathy counters eruption, well kinda. you have to use game sense and a lil bit of luck to tell when exactly they look like their about to be downed
Yeah, no idea why this is seen as so annoying. ERUPTION is the real annoying one. Randomly being forced off a gen, unable to even use your items (including my precious Flashbang), is WAY more annoying.
