To be honest considering they updated the enngine this update is amazing. I still remember the disaster that was the first engine change. Twins are now A+ tier, good. Blight and Nurse need some competition.
This is like forged in fog tier awful. The rubberbanding, the bugs, invisible collision, I’ve also had more crashes in the last 24 hours than in like nearly 3 years of playing. I haven’t played new twins but watching footage… yeah they’re still a mess lol. I think Twins mains have Stockholm syndrome, Wesker, my main is buggy but NOTHING like Twins haha.
On the positive, I like the UI updates and think DS back at 5s feels great when playing survivor. Blight changes also don’t feel as bad as I thought even though I miss hug tech, but the better collision does feel good for map mobility and stuff.
anyone know if they finally fixed gift of pain
Saying this patch is like something "old BHVR would put out" is right on point. It's a mishmash of poorly thought out changes, many of which people didn't ask for. Very disappointing. Hopefully it doesn't become the norm. Bad patches happen now and again, but it really looked like BHVR were on a pretty good streak until now.
I almost wouldn't mind 5 second DS if they nerfed Buckle Up + For the People, so you could actually slug them to wait it out. That was the counter in the bad old days of DH for distance. But now you're just sort of shit out of luck. Survivors can spend the majority of the match literally unkillable solely due to their perks. Quickly losing multiple chases in a row just isn't a threat any more no matter how bad you are, and that's disappointing to me.
4:05 exactly, how did we go from Billy update to Unknown chapter to this
THEY BROKE GHOSTFACE'S RIBBONS THEY SLAUGHTERED MY BOY ;~;
The ppl talking about the game looking better are probably referring to the new options for Global illumination and reflection but for some reason you can only change it on the game files.
I got my new monitor today and I thought the stuttering was because of the 4k setting so I set it to 1440p now. It helped to fix the issue.
I used to main twins and then stop. Ahh it feels good to be back.
I'm sorry, but Ultimate Weapon was busted. I know, I hate immersed survivors, too. But I can look past that and acknowledge that it was the most powerful info perk they've ever made. There was no real reason to run any other info perk. It also had unhealthy applications like enabling tunneling and messing with jigsaw boxes. Any perk which single-handedly drags a garbage perk like Calm Spirit into the meta specifically to counter it is a perk that cannot remain in that state.
I deliberately did not use Ultimate Weapon because I could see the writing on the wall for that perk from day 1. If you don't think it was overpowered I don't know what to say to you. It's one of the most blatantly overpowered perks they've ever made and anyone with a handful of hours in the game should be able to pick that out. That shit was on the same level of obviously overpowered and destined for a nerf as Made For This and Circle of Healing. They somehow made an info perk more egregiously busted than Nowhere to Hide, a perk I already couldn't believe actually existed. Good lord.
"Wow! UE5 update graphics are so much better!" – Someone under the placebo effect.
Overall, the QoL for Twins is all good. My experience is positive as someone who regularly played them. (definitely no twins main)
My rework for Twins is as follows:
Victor no longer directly injures survivors upon a pounce hit.
Victor now damages survivors he is attached to over 10 seconds, and will stay attached until recalled by Charlotte or he is crushed by the Survivor.
Victor can only be crushed while attached to a Survivor while they are standing still; this process takes 5 seconds and pauses Victor's damage timer. If crushing Victor is interrupted, the afflicted Survivor will be locked out from doing the action again for 2 seconds.
If Victor is with Charlotte and she injures a Survivor with a basic attack, Victor will automatically pounce onto that Survivor.
If a Survivor is downed while Victor is attached to them, he will now pin them to the ground preventing movement and recovery completely.
While pinning a Survivor, Victor is treated as dormant and can be crushed.
While a Survivor with Victor attached is being chased, his attack timer will pause.
(Further explanation: If Victor is left unattended to on a healthy Survivor for 20 seconds without interruption, that survivor will have taken two health states of damage and be downed, as well as pinned by Victor.)
to be fair on that elk skin they did have to get a new voice actor for it and the amount of work they put into it + the new mori i dont see a problem with that price
I played about 10 games today after the patch and every single one of them was laggy as hell. Checked my internet it was fine, played some other games and had no lag.
Don't know what it is but DBD is so laggy right now.
on occasion trapper also break, from time to time after placing your starting traps you can no longer place anymore traps the rest of the match, im unsure what causes it and it doesnt happen all the time. you can pick up more traps and the trap high light appears but you can place anymore.
Honestly, the whole patch can be summarized in three words;
Useless and sloppy.
Basically every changes were either unneeded, unasked for, reverted or completely overkill.
Adrenaline nerf was unneeded and overkill, the perk was completely fine except for the Freddy wake-up effect which is the only good change about the perk. Survivors were playing with 3 perks for 95% of the match and, unlike the Killer with perks such as NOED and Blood Warden/Terminus, they have absolutely no guarantee to even make it to endgame (and even when they do, if the Survivor is healthy/not in chase then the perk is effectively wasted apart from going to a door faster) and playing with 3 perks only augments the chance of dying before endgame. Outside of a SWF, Adrenaline wasn't that special (and recent stats showed that the majority of games aren't against SWF).
Ultimate Weapon is now completely worthless and a worst Darkness Revealed (and the next change will still make it worthless since it'll be little more than a camping perk on weaker/M1 Killers and stronger Killers will just replace it with another slowdown). All they had to do was limit the amount of screams you could get from it or have it consume tokens which are earned with hooks (to make it a powerful perk but one that encourages taking chases and requires hooks like Pain Res & Pop). It's not surprising that it was sent to the Shadow Realm due to the sheer amount of people who complained ever since it's release.
DS's buff is a long-time coming but the change will mostly affect weaker/M1 Killers (just like the STBFL and Sloppy nerf and the poorly thought-out Anti-3-gen) while S-tier Killers will just power through it and catch up anyway. If DS deactivated the Killer's power for like 5-7 seconds then at least it would make the perk just as valuable against every Killer and none could simply ignore it (and to those who say "BuT WhAt aBoUt NuRsE?" c'mon, she doesn't need to tunnel in the first place).
Haddonfield wasn't really touched from PTB despite all the feedback and is now horrible for Survivors, as expected. It's just a tiny box filled with unsafe pallets (those edge-map pallets are just hilarious) that are gone in a few chases.
The game as a whole (I assume due to the engine change) is barely playable with horrible rubber-banding and stuttering on both sides. Lots of people are even experiencing frequent crashes. I've been playing this game for years and this patch is almost as bad as the original Twins release (ironic that it's another Twins update).
Blight's changes are arguably a sort of equalizer. His skill ceiling has decreased drastically BUT his skill floor has also decreased since now the widespread strat is to force pallet drops with M1 then catch up for a free hit with rushes (arguably an efficient albeit boring playstyle since sliding techs are gone). Highly skilled Blight players had their maximum potential knee-capped but it'll be easier for new players to understand the Killer since most techs are gone. His collision now feels a tad too generous though, bumping in apparently thin air often. It wasn't needed and it merely dumbed down yet another aspect of the game but it'll at least remove some work for newcomers.
The Twins changes are little more than QoL updates that shouldn't have taken years to happen, it's a good thing they scrapped the PTB Twins but now it was just a massive waste of time.
It kinda feels like nearly every changes since 7.5.0 were just rushed and aimed at shortening games while kicking weaker Killers while they are already down.
A bunch of dbd youtubers beforehand: "Bruh who gives a f about the store"
The store: Ends up being the best part of the update
I agree my games bugged and says I don't own Nick cage and the stranger things chapter or ghost face but I can still use the perks I did msg support and they have said a lot of others have the same problems and that they will fix it soon but knowing behavior that will take 2 weeks to fix
Store amazingly Great and The rift good. twins good and Haddonfield good but danm two god pallets in the middle and bugs lots
Quite dumb saying haddonfield is better now. The main building is fall into a death stagger everywhere. Disgraceful update.
”I think we did a pretty good job so far”
I might just he bad, but like ultimate weapon just doesn't work, like no scream and no aura.
Honestly, I’m mad that this mid-chapter was just a store update. Don’t get me wrong the store looks better but I wish they didn't make it look like the Fortnite item shop. And they could of at least reworked the shrine of secrets into a full perk store. Like I wouldn't care if they bumped the prices up to 3k shards instead of 2k as a way to balance it out. I’d be perfectly fine with grinding for perks I actually want instead of 4 random perks.
In a previous comment of mine I promised I'd stick to positivity to ward of others negativity, whenever I did comment. But NOT today! I'm a twins main. And I absolutely love the QoL changes they received. Or I would have if I could actually play them. This patch, which I was severely looking forward to, has ruined my will to keep playing the game. At least for the time being. For 2 days I tried to stay positive with all the issues this update brought. But the constant rubberbanding in EVERY match, has gotten me close to uninstalling the game completely. The only thing that stopped me was when I saw a tweet and realized that it wasn't just my shitty laptop struggling with the new engine, but a wider problem. Which means they're likely gonna fix it. Also spotted an official DBD tweet response suggesting they are already looking into the issue. So until it is fixed, I'm not touching the game. I'm not someone who gets mad over games. In any sense, but this update has not been good for my mental health.
Is anyone else on ps5 having movement glitches?? Like I buffer and literally glitch for a second. It happens multiple times every game and it keeps getting me killed.
I wish that Adrenaline had also been changed that it didn't pick a survivor up off the ground.
The lighting has definitely improved so there IS definitely graphical improvements as well a ridiculous amount of stuttering
