After the first impressions in yesterday’s video, today we have a bit more gameplay of playing as and against the new Killer, “The Houndmaster”. Big thanks to Drascool and our other friends for volunteering to be bitten by our angry dog!

  1. They definitely need to make firing the dog the second time much much faster without that weird delay. There were multiple times where Otz clearly sent the dog perfectly lined up on where the survivor is going to be and it just misses. That looks like it feels absolutely horrible to play as. Unless they change that I am not spending a cent on this killer.

  2. I feel like you could play this killer really well if you treated her power like a budget portable blight dash. Especially on more open or tighter loops you can send your dog out in front or around you to pressure the outside and hit to control the dog very last second while also moving closer to overwhelm the survivors focus and get a grab with the dog or a basic hit with a bait. It's like a more mobile twins where instead of 2 killers it's 1 and a half killer that can quickly split and rejoin one another.

  3. This killer is kinda sick, I love the whole concept. It definitely needs some tweaks, and obviously that will happen given its PTB. Overall definitely fun to see the Dog Mechanic.

    Definitely love the chase music.

  4. I don’t hate the direction BHVR is going with their creative freedom with these killers, because these are truly some amazing concepts.

However, there’s something I miss about all of the default killers.

They never spoke, their personality completely encapsulated by their eerie, deafening silent demeanor. I miss how dark they looked, too. I understand The Houndmaster wearing golden accents, as a pirate after all. But Skullmerchant is definitely just too “blingy”.

There was something so visceral about the appearance of the old killers, Trapper, Billy, Wraith, Nurse, even Doc, something so eerily simple as bloodstained rags or eviscerated skin. Something that tapped into a primal fear.

Y’know what I’d like to see? A killer centered entirely around a specific phobia like it’s his vice or niche. Imagine a killer made of nothing but pure darkness, Nyctophobia. Or a spider-themed killer, Arachnophobia. Maybe a killer who’s covered in an infestation of some form of parasite or symbiotic bug, Trypophobia. You get it, something to just tap in to that primal fear again.

  5. The dog AI is kinda weak. The basekit for the dog AI should be to auto-bite survivors who is withing 3m range while in bloodlust, range increasing per bloodlust level. And guard command, where you can order dog to attack from different angle or guard the pallet.

  6. It would be interesting if when send the dog out with "Catch" it would stay at the end of it's path until you manually call it back. This would give you infinite time to change his path, but if you forget to call him back his cooldown would be way longer since it will freeze as long as the dog is out.

  7. The hold of the bite of the dog is way to long.😅 once you get caught there is never a way to escape. Unless you stun.. the dog.. wich makes the whole idea of escape pointless since you have no time for that.
