I personally love the idea of having proximity voice chat in dbd, it would strongly encourage roleplay from both sides and there would be so much fun with it, reminder tho, this is just an opinion, we all have our own :)))

IF Voice chat we're ever enabled in DBD, there obviously will be a minority of people who would be using it to be toxic to others like in all games, I'm not disuputing that but I don't believe voice chat would not be the catalyst for the games downfall. But what do y'all think?
Toxicity would be a problem, but that's not what I really care about. Just mute them. But just because another multiplayer game has voice chat doesn't mean everyone should. Valorant, COD, Overwatch, they have voice chat because it's a team based shooter and you would need callouts for certain things. Fortnite, Apex Legends, PUBG, they have voice chat because they're battle royals requiring call outs. Dead By Daylight is a asymmetric horror game, not a shooter. Just because the majority of people in this game don't find it scary, it doesn't mean the devs won't try to make it scary. And just because "all games have voice chat" doesn't mean Dead By Daylight needs it. It not required because most multiplayer games have it, that is not a good reason to add it because "other game have it, this game should too". Proximity chat wouldn't work well.
The cons for voice chat isn't just toxicity. It's messing up the games narrative. And I reiterate, yes the game isn't scary to those who play it for a living, I understand. It isn't scary to someone who plays a lot either. But this game isn't Friday the 13th or COD or Valorant etc. It's Dead By Daylight. Don't get me wrong, adding voice chat won't "kill the game", but it's not made for this game.
Team chat, making it so only survivors can talk to each other, would make balancing SWF a more easier thing for the devs, but then all perks show your team mates location/aura would need changes. Killers and survivors shouldn't have anyway to communicate until the end of the match. My reason is because if they were able to talk to each other during the match then the whole narrative of the game would flop. The games always saying that the killers unrelentingly trying to kill you. Not screaming because they're losing, calling the survivor slurs because they tbagged, calling the survivor slurs because they're on hook and dying/dead, or over apologizing because they're winning.
I don't care if they're toxic or screaming or whatever, but you have to acknowledge that the "scary killer" isn't scary because they're not the killer. Once again, I repeat, I get that a lot of people aren't scared of this game. But the devs seem to want this game to be focused on the killers/survivors story.
That's all, have a nice day.
so the best looper screams at the top of their lungs while the worst players sneak away because the killer can only hear the the screaming looper.
I think vc is a bad idea because ive only played about 20 hours in dbd and ive only had one good game, the others where toxic was only going. I dont get angry at bm i find it funny, but the after game chat hurt a few times
I do and don't agree. It would make for a lot more fun but at the same time I feel like it makes the survivors a lot stronger (like swf would be easier). But i only play this game very casually and just for fun
I think if they do Proximity chat it should only apply to survivors, but the Killer can hear them.
I don't think a game wide survivor voice chat would be good, unless they made a new item "Walkie Talkie" that allows the survivor to hear/talk to other, but it's still proximity for the killer, IE near the survivor who has the Walkie Talkie when they are talking, they can hear what they say. The Item could have 3 types and do different things, like one way for the basic, two way for a advanced one.
I think Proximity chat would be fun, but I don't think Killer should be able to talk to the survivors, I get the "Playful banter" thing, I just think there is no reason for the killer to talk to a survivor that can't wait for endgame chat. Sure ingame you might want to tell a survivor "Nice dodge", but most of the time it would not be as nice.
Being a member of the LGBTQ community, I have the pride charm equipped; It's not rare for people to flock to my discord server to call me slurs. This would just save them all the work. Would I love it? Absolutely, but there needs to be some kind of rule enforcement (i.e active reporting through the menu during a match)
I definitely wouldn't mind team chat but a little hesitant when it comes to proximity chat with the killer just for balance and everything
Will that add proximity chat ?
That's what I don't get about any concerns over negative social impacts of game voice chat, like racism, sexism, harassing, etc.
In every instance of voice chat there is a mute function…
There is only an issue when you choose to let it persist..like, am I dumb or right?
Not that this should persuade us to avoid this option as I fully support it but unfortunately in my eyes it wouldn’t do much to the old community. People who are solely focused on winning and talking smack will stay to Discord calls and group chats because to them winning is necessary the reason they wish to cut off any connection with the opposition. To have voice chat would be magnificent but in my eyes, the odds are in the favor of the majority of the people using Discord instead to communicate rather than possibly risk selling out information to others.
I am very hopeful that they add it but as a realistic person I doubt it will change much seeing as most of the people in this game care about only one thing… Winning
5:12 – everyone laugh at the squeeker :p
sound good radio good
No. Just utterly no. Even VHS shuts off voice comms in the end chat to prevent hateful toxic behavior.
As for clicky? No. It is toxic as it triggers certain aspects to my, and many others, autism. It's hateful and toxic.
What stream was that game apart of?
Adding proximity chat would make the highs higher… and the lows of dbd lower
fuck no
in lobby it should be an option on/off
I can already see the toxicity lmfao. If they had voice chat
I think It would be good for the game and pretty funny sometimes, but bhvr would need to balance the game around it to make a more enjoyable for all (and i think this is the major problem with swfs ),but everyone knows that bhvr is not very good at balancing dbd
Voice chat isnt a problem, you can mute annoying people
if someone be toxic/racist/homophobic etc etc you can record and report more easily, right?
The problem is: i fear everything that came from behavior, because always come with bugs lmao
I agree with Proximity chat being in the game but I think there are a few things that would be important to point out
A) It should probably only be for survivors to hear each other. It would be weird for the killer to be able to hear survivors when it's a somewhat stealthy game and could potentially lead a killer to a survivor that's giggling around a corner or something (but I could be wrong about this one)
B) There needs to be a toggle to turn it off. Not everyone would want to use it and I understand why. At the very least let there be a mute function for when you don't want to hear a certain person make annoying sounds or complain anymore
C) And lastly Behaviour would really need to step up their reporting/banning system. There's gonna be a lot of actually toxic behavior going on with randoms such as racism and/or bullying and it needs to be more heavily enforced than what the current banning system is
Honestly, I’d think it would be better for killers to not have proximity chat. Not for toxicity but for stealth and horror reasons. I don’t think id get the same scare as a pyramid head suddenly appearing and slashing me other than a ghost face screaming over the mic as he approaches you.
Lots of people say voice chat wouldn’t work, but I think it could. The people who say it doesn’t work obviously have never played something like Prop Night before, as that game has voice chat works just fine. The way I think the voice chat could work is that survivors can speak and killers can hear them, but can’t talk back (with a few exceptions such as Freddy and ghostface.)
Oooooh i like that plague skin is that still obtainable or is it yet another one time thing only skin ? 🤔
Its funny because I made a post about voice chat needing to be in the game on reddit about a year or so ago. And everyone disagreed w me . It low key really upset me. Glad you made a video pointing out the pros and cons. Because there are no cons. Just a bunch of soft ppl
I think it would be perfectly fine. i play a game called "escape from tarkov" a hardcore military simulation, and they recently added the OPTION for voip, there is not much toxicity, and if there is. theres a mute option. it would be great aslong as they give everybody the option to turn it off completely, so its the best of both worlds. it would make solo queue so much more fun as a survivor.
And at the end of the day If you don’t like it turn it off
i think voice chat would be so fun and amazing
