  1. The game is not balanced. Swf is 10x stronger than solo queue. The killer roster ranges from nurse to trapper. Maps can have 8 pallets or 25. I really disagree with “balance = unfun” they can add fun features while still balancing the game. What makes the game unfun is that they keep nerfing perks once they become strong, and not buffing perks that are weak. Their mmr system makes it so that running fun perks is punished heavily. This game can have chaos while still being fair. Silly games still happen, even in the “unfun balanced dbd”, just less so because of mmr and lack of perk variety.

  2. i don't really agree that balance = less fun. balance doesn't necessarily have anything to do with "fun", not to mention fun is subjective. i had fun from close calls when i played even though you didn't. i had more fun in matches where i felt i was at a similar level of skill and competency as my teammates or my opponent, not just the goofy matches where shit got weird — though those were fun in their own way, too.

what's killing DBD is what's killed every single live service game of the past: rigid schedules that force overworked and underpaid developers to churn out the same undercooked crap at a breakneck pace with poor communication, no proper testing, and no breathing room to make each piece of content actually decent or memorable.

if BHVR truly gives a shit about this product, they're going to not just have to reinvent game mechanics. they'll have to reinvent massive chunks of their production pipeline and chew on some humble pie in the process.

  3. DBD has always been the most fun to me when it wasn’t focused on competitive games. The fun, nonsense games are the most memorable and enjoyable for both sides, as you stated. I’m all for different fun game modes. Even if it’s temporary and unbalanced or just absolutely ridiculous, it would be interesting to try out and different. Fun will always outweigh competition in my books

  4. I would love some fun game modes or even just something different. I would love like a prop hunt on smaller maps or a mode where your load out switches Every 30 seconds. I would just some other options.

  5. the more balanced the game the more fun and less frustrating it is
the staleness comes from playing one mode for thousands of hours it has nothing to do with balance

  6. Identity V has multiple gamemodes. 2v8, black jack, Tarot, and special events with unique gameplay. That is what DbD needs. 1 gamemode for 7 years is honestly impressive.

  7. I was one of those people who advocated for balancing the game as Survivors were too strong, and now I regret it. I'll admit I loved playing Survivor when they were in their prime (barring abusing infinites, that shit was dumb), and the game was fun because it was usually chaotic. Now every match plays the same, versing the same Killers with the same perks and same addons and now I can't play Survivor anymore. I only ever enjoy Killer because I can control my fun in 99% of the games, I can't do that as Survivor. Balance is something we felt we needed and is something I think that's going to kill the game, because MMR made everyone take this shit too seriously. We got what we wanted, and it sucks.

  8. I think you're bang on about the balance and I say that as a guy who used to be all for "balance" and complained about strong stuff and regret it.

True balance in this game you're right is bad because there's no mechanical skill involved in playing Survivor. Survivors and Killers are not evenly matched, like 2 people in CSGO or Valorant. A Survivor cannot loop a Killer on an empty flat plain. That's not to say there's no skill in playing Survivor of course, but you can't balance for a fair skill based 1v1 because how powerful and balanced a Survivor is depends on where they are on the map and what perks they brought.

You could have two equally juicer survivors but if ones doing the gen in shack that leads into a long wall with DH, and the other is doing the deadzone gen with No Mither, even though they are the same "skill" you would have a vastly different time downing them even though their skill is the same and you the Killer are the same.

The sanitisation of add-ons is a big part of it. While we've probably all roasted Blight for being one of the best Killers with busted OP add-ons, the truth is we'd all be having a lot more fun, Killers and Survivors, if we had the choice to bring visibly impactful things like that to the game.

It feels like the game is way too balanced around the 1v1 instead of the 4v1 anymore and I do think a lot of that is perpetuated by the old guard uber skilled players who shame Killers who use anything other than Shadowborn Agitation and know 8 techs for every structure in the game.

You could be right it's just our nostalgia for the old days (2018 player here) but I just feel like the game is slowly squeezing out everything except looping. No hunt for Hex totems, no being scared of a mori or a key, or a Black Ward. This game just feels like it only caters to either super high mmr players who have 3000 hours on their main, or low mmr players who are separated and probably having the time of their life.

Idk where I'm going with this. Just trying to say you are super right and the game needs strong stuff, its Asymmetrical and can't be balanced. Doesn't mean there has to be obnoxious stuff that ruins peoples fun, but there should be strong stuff. Right now I feel like the difference between the strongest build for either side and no perks is the closest its ever been.

  9. DBD needs anything that's COMPLETLY new, not a perk that makes you do something faster or applies an existent status effect, something that has never been seen before. Lets see something that lets survivors create mirror images, or something that lets killers fly. Is it unbalanced? Probably, but it would also be fun as hell !

  10. With all this hyperblancing in most live service games thesedays I wish developers would go back to the mentality of games like Titanfall where "If everything is overpowered, nothing is overpowered"

  11. Perk Randomizer seems like the easiest gamemode they could implement. Would be interesting, no meta sweat, may find some interesting perks and synergy, and it wouldn't require any new assets or major effort to get working.

  12. Theres nothing wrong with the game. The game has always been the least of our problems. Aslong as the community stays as messed up as it is things will never change for the better

  13. i dont think balance = not chaotic and not fun . if something is really broken and super annoying then it needs to nerfed. at least looking at the history the game has gone through. I think another objective for survivors besides gens would be good. maybe a different objective lore tied to the map would be interesting. a 3rd game mode where its just 5 people who que up and randomly 1 becomes killer or something would be fun.

  14. I like to play killer and the game has been unplayable for me. By the time I get 5 hooks, the survivors did 4 gens. The healing nerfs did nothing, good survivors don't heal. Pretty much everyone runs Adrenaline.

  15. The Main Problem are the assholes who want the game to be a bully simulation.

If dbd would ban all russians, chinese and all under 18 players, this game would be healthy and fun.

But then it would only have 10k players instead of 30k

Maybe dont play the game 9000hours non stop.
If u go something over and over again it becones less fun and becomes boring.

  16. Idk… this game is like 7 years old. People always mock the devs but they made a small "scare your friends" game into a massive, one of the most played games on steam with multiple IP's, fog whisperer programs and community events. I think if they really want to make the game more unique they should stop listening to the community and make the game they envisioned. That way it stays unique.

  17. I only have fun in DBD now playing Jumpscare Myers/Ghostface in Indoor maps. It’s just been the same game for years now and I’ve honestly found it boring taking it seriously, “sweating” to win on either side. I wish they add a gamemode where indoor maps are only chosen as well as a proximity chat on this mode. It’s more fun for me to hear the reactions from scaring survivors but unfortunately, it’s only if they are streaming.

  18. A full-time gamemode with multiple killers against like 6-8 survivors would be amazing and such a refreshment. It would be carnage and im here for it.

  19. I've always disliked that games typically nerf "strong" things such as perks in DbD instead of buffing other weaker things to be on par with the stronger stuff, It would be much more fun that way imo but then again I don't have experience making games so idk.

  20. They need to fix mmr it's bs I am admittedly awful as killer lucky if I 1k bad but my unranked killers getting teamed against swfs and level 40+ survivours means that +100 blood points isn't worth how unfun it is to watch them all bag you at the exit gates after you get 5 gens done in 5 mins

    Reply
  21. They should add a fuse system, where as well as repairing all the gens, survivors have to find 5 fuses and locate a fuse box to arm the exit gate. They could balance the end game by making the exit gates open IMMEDIATEY after the last fuse is inserted instead of having to hold down a lever. That would be crazy fun.

And maybe have a "5 Perk weekend" every month, where for a limited time, players unlock the ability to put on FIVE perks instead of four. Or maybe just a "5 Perk" game mode all together.

Infact, this game would be soooo much better if there were MULTIPLE different game modes that players can choose from.

  22. You basically described one of the main thing game designers are wrestling in any competitive games.
Not to "make game balanced", but "to keep up the balance between "fun" and "balanced"."
And it's really god damn hard lol. DbD has a lot of problems, but this is one that i won't blame BHVR for.

  23. That's one big bad take you have there imo. Game is unbalanced people complain, game is more balanced from before people complain. Sure having some things unbalanced so you have to play around them is fun but if it's been there for too long it just get annoying. You can't just say we didn't get any new mechanics and absolutely ignoring boons and all in the same phrase. They are not game changing or in every game but it still a mecanic that people use and changed the game.

  24. Lol, balance, right sure, more so a nerf for survivors, the small nerf, if you can call it for killers lol the more the devs nerf are perks the more stronger killers get so no its not healthy its still in beta stage as fare as I can tell you want inproment stop killing are perks that work give us more maps stop buffing killers

  25. Salty survivor, it's always the same excuses. Eruption was "boring" wah.. nerfed dead hard is "stale" it wasn't even that strong but I refuse to play the game without it wah.. it's so lame, we need a shake up, wah.. bro literally said it's not supposed to be fair, having the game lopsided for survivors was his "bestest memories" of the game. Yeah obviously genius, fun only for survivors as if killers enjoy chasing survivors around getting smacked with pallets. I'm glad all of you are quitting. Leave the game for people who actually have skills instead of riding on ONE perk

  26. I don't like this update at all or think it was a good update for either side. Almost every single DBD player has been complaining about how sweaty the game has become ever since they put in the MMR system. All this update did was to push the game even further into that direction of a comp game that nobody wants. It's gotten nearly impossible to try and force the fun out of this game and sure the game isn't going to die in a couple days but it's been on slide that keeps going down ever since MMR dropped and BHVR just keeps doubling down on it.
