In this video we talk about how the current survivor gameplay is very similar to how it felt to play killer for years and also cover a few aspects of the new 6.1.0 update in DBD. The survivor experience has become pretty rough, solo queue kinda sucks, and killer queues are 10-30 minutes long. There are definitely issues so let’s discuss.

  1. Buff killers chase ability but nerf tunneling and camping to the ground Base kit reusable DS would be something interesting but let's say this base kit DS stuns for only 1-2 seconds and turns off if killer injures any other survivor plus all things that normally deactivate DS

  2. My biggest issue as survivor RN is teammates DCing/giving up and not even trying to play the match. How can we tell how impactful the changes actually are if everyone is not even giving them a fair shot and just being babies about it?
Not to say some things shouldn't be changed, just the exact amount of change is hard to gauge. Like those solo icons need to come earlier than next year.

  3. tunneling and facecamping are WAY too strong for what they are. I had a game recently where a killer chased me for two gens, then just hit me on hook until I got unhooked, then tunneled me off hook and repeat the situation until I died.

You would think with the killer playing terribly the survivors would win… but since gens take so long if you are stacking passive slowdown, you can literally throw the game and still 4k. It's the same problem we had before this patch but in reverse: terrible survivors could stack second chance perks and items and escape despite making every possible mistake, now terrible killers can stack slowdown perks and they'll have enough time to face camp two or even three survivors to death.

Edit: Btw, I was on coms with my teammates they were very efficient on gens. Just deadlock and jolt kept them from doing much

  4. Camping, or tunneling doesn't happen that often in my trials, but if then it is facecamping from very beginning.

If the Killer doesn't leave the hook, the timer should progress slower, or even stop. Also the time to open an exit gate should be reduced, but not as a survivor buff, for each hook (not hook state) the time it takes to open the exit increases slightly, so he gets rewarded for hooking. Okay, here still is the danger of camping, and waiting for trades. But in combination with a hook timer pause it should be enough to make them leave.

Kindred should be basekit as well, and deactivate after the last gen pops. But the bigger problem is Survs go down fast, because they don't know how to loop properly. Wasting pallets, still using Self-Care, and refuse to being healed. In chat you can read statements like: "It makes me independent from the team, so they can loop the killer meanwhile". 🤐

Don't get me wrong, I'm a killer main, but what I'm seeing, hearing.. .it is just embarrassing 😓

  5. Tbh a new killer named "The Survivor" does have a ring to it.

I have nothing to make me a complete menace. I have a liking to play Doctor, which means Overcharge is available by default and Jolt providing me some additional gen regression. My perks are Over Charge, Jolt, Iron Grasp, and Overwhelming Presence, Distressing or Monsterous Shrine. Distressing is more of a Blood Point farming perk and a way to make Static Blast a good way to locate survivors within my terror radius but could make the game feel longer with the regression from Overcharge and Jolt but with Monsterous Shrine, it's more of a way to speed the game up a bit. Overwhelming Presence is when I see people using flashlights since I dont have Lightborn from a Prestiged Hillbilly. I have played Demogorgon (who I like to call D'art) and I seem to struggle with him until I started playing Doc, multiple Flashlights blinding me non-stop and mostly get 5 gen and all them escaping when I played Demo. I did get Dredge recently and played a match but due to it mechanics, I tend to press teleport to locker instead of exiting in which kinda cost me the game (asides it having 1 perk slot available and no add-ons to use).

Not too long ago I play my usual Doctor build with Distressing Presence instead of Monsterous shrine and got dropped on a map i liked (one of the Estates with the large towering shrine in the middle of the map that has a gen on top, think it's either Oni or Spirit's map) had a person Disconnect before I could hit them the others remained in the game and I did my usual of hooking them, try to not tunnel or camp, and when it came to the last survivor, I decided to try and find the hatch but couldn't find it so I decided to hook the last survivor. Had enough at the end of that match to get through 50 bloodwebs on my Doctor but not enough to hit prestige 1.

  6. I just like how they take away the second chances because it was ridiculous that all 4 survivors had one to get away with it.

But mostly I’m just waiting for bots at winter so there is no arguing at end game

  7. Personally for me, I've taken to dialing it down – I think that Surge is the only gen defense perk I really need on certain killers, or just killers in general (perk stacking gen defense on killers was never really appealing to me before), and Discordance for tracking/semi-countering Prove Thyself. I'm fully aware that yes, survivor is currently miserable to play, I wouldn't want to wish full gen defense or instawin Nurse builds on any team and I say this maining killer with close to 1k hours of playtime.

  8. My observations post 6.1.0 update (Started playing 2019 and play both roles 50/50)

As survivor (SWF): The games have felt much more fair post update. Our average for first hook of 2.5 gens for 1st hook has gone down to 1.5 gens. Our success has and always will be dependent on our macro play, no amount of game updates will ever change that.

As killer: The build variety from the survivors have been a breath of fresh air. I'm noticing the difference in both generator and chase times. Survivors have been giving up much sooner (2gens/3hooks) than before the update. I can't say that these matches have been easier because they give up the moment I gain any tempo. The matches at this point are still fair and can go either way and I still feel the same amount of pressure as before the update.

As survivor (SoloQ): Same points as killer. Its harder for me to keep up the pressure now that my teammates have less second chance perks as well as gens taking longer. As a consequence of this, I now feel it necessary to run a second info perk (Empathy) alongside Kindred. This way I know where to position myself and how I need to spend my time.

Suggestions (Survivor): Revert DS to a 5 second stun (this perk is a necessary evil) as killers seem to no longer be threatened by it. Either keep Iron Will at 75% w/o the exhaustion clause or revert it to 100% and keep the exhaustion clause. Make Calm Spirit Counter killer instinct (at least from some range). Like BT make Kindred base-kit to some degree so that SoloQ can coordinate an unhook (This is where I see most games go down hill).

Suggestions (Killer): Like the Twins, make it so certain killers certain killers can't use their power next to hooks on a case by case bases (Hag, any 1 shot killer). Mild nerf to Nurse's Blink range(first and/or second), make blink attacks count as specials, and remove range/recharge add-ons.

  9. As a killer main I AM HAVING A BLAST! The game is on easy mode for me,i can finally run 0 slow down boring builds and win, so i decided to play a few survivor games and it's literally unplayable right now, god knows how many times we all died at 3-4 gens, as someone who always hated survivors, even i think this nerfs are bit too much…

  10. This patch was designed with expectation to prevent camping and tunneling, but it turns out we have more tunneling and camping killers than before. And just like in his video, they often play optimal with toxic behavior added.

Nonetheless, people seem to have mixed opinion in this. Some still say solo is fine while some killers still whine over survivors. It makes me kind of wonder is MMR is also broken in some ways. I play with my friends (not 4 man though). We are not experts or anything and died a lot, but still face the same skilled killers and playstyles. Playing stressful matches back to back with toxic playstyle and behaviors is not fun at all.

  11. I’m so bored of thana, slugged, tunnels, camped at 5 gens, eruption, legions who nod at me because I knock the power out of them and get face camped at 5 gens 😂

I honestly don’t care about escapes all I want is pips if I pip I win in my eyes I just would like to touch a gen for more then 20 seconds!

I’m absolutely loving the videos 🤍

  13. As console Deathslinger main I would say that 3 second ds is to heavy of a nerf with him being able to shoot survivor after stun almost immidietly, but with survivors still going for unhooks near killer, body blocking with off the record, going for locker ds, or staying near hook to heal even with such game changes the camping and tunneling parts just get extenuated even further with unwillingness of survivors to change the game style. Can't attest to the slow down and generator debate cause don't have sadako perks and Deathslinger is still to slow for better use of eruption.

  14. Huzzah! Super happy to see you discussing this I definitely feel that we will be getting changes soon (TM) to rebalance survivor.
I have seen more DC's and giving up on hook than I have seen camping .

Also I have been playing alot more survivor due to que times and honestly been having fun it's actually challenging now.

As killer I've seen people dcing giving up on hook and straight up nobody saving I honestly can't work out the reason for it.
They need to think of both sides we are all playing the same game and it needs to be enjoyable for both sides 💕🐽

  15. All i hear here is entiteled Surv Main "wäh wäh"…
Solo q is fun again, you finally need skill again.
Only Problem is that there are too much Survs in high MMR, that got there just because of DH!
We have to play on for a few weeks until these people go down to the MMR Level they belong to!
    I love this update.
And about all the Surv Crybabys that come up:
"When oppression ends, it feels like oppression to the the oppressor"!
BTW: DS..as long as they don`t change the 60 seconds duration, this Perk is no ANti Tunnel Perk!
I STILL hook one, get another one, chase him, hook him, go back to the first and get hit by DS!
    STILL unfair!

Killer mains be basking in the joy of the game not realizing the damage it's going to do to the game in the long run, I know many ppl myself included who quit just due to the severe problems atm. I cant even play soloq due to the issues stated its, when killers had a rough time and quit survivors could fill the role and take their place. However good luck replacing all the survivors needed to keep the game running, let alone them removing the bp incentive also hurt the game

  17. I love this update, and on duo-queue and higher the game is still very fun and fine as survivor. But it is true the game is far worse for solo queue. The mistake BHVR did was they neglected buffing solo prior to (or during) the update.

  18. I play killer…. It was better before… I loved the chase, the “am I going to get them in time” feeling… this update has made it way too easy to play as killer. Out of about 50 games, I went to winning about 60% of the time (before update) to 85-90% of the time.

  19. Tbh i don’t think the devs know how to solve the camping issue. I think Patrick said in one of the devs streams replying to someone wanting facecamping to be less punishing for the survivor and he replied with: ”camping has been a thorn in our side for a long time and we don’t like that it’s such an appealling option to facecamp survivors” but he also said that they dont want to remove proxy camping as it is a valid strategy. Like how do they make facecamping less punishing for the survivors while also not making killers get punished for proxy camping?

  20. I think this was doomed to happen, buffing solos were always the first step to a more balanced game but instead we got this patch, and i think it's fine if you're swf.

Still winning the majority of our games even though it's more challenging.

While in solos you still get crouching clauds all game.

  21. Hello, my expirience since patch has landed was amazing. I don't see the same fucking perks all the time so guessing is actually harder and more entertaining. I can run whatever I want without being judged as long as I don't throw.I didn't play killer much since the Q time is like 10min all the time. For the first time ever I actually enjoy solo survivor (I do use kindred every single time, might influence it). I have been tunelled maybe once and camped on hook like 3 times (every single time because I was lucky with RNG and looped killer for like 4 gens or so..)

I also noticed I've been playing much more against S tier killers, but was unusually able to outplay most of them. I don't think my MMR dropped or anything, I just feel that some salty survs want to erase all the fun for other people so they play the most broken shit, with most broken addons.

I would respectufuly disagree with the title of the video. I can see where you, and more people are comming from why you make this argument.
If next patch would be left to me I'd probably give solo Q surviors some sort of buff. Maybe with icons switching if someone is on gen or sth. I just feel forced to run kindred every single time.
Other thing would be consider nerfing the facecamping aspect. Long time ago I heard about making kinship basekit, and honestly twiked I think this could work.
I don't think I can see any solution to make tunelling harder. Obv I agree with you, this should be a strategy allowed to killer, but it cannot be as easy as it is now. I belive this one might be the tricky one.

The last thing I wanna say. I don't think it is as bad for majority of survivors. I personally belive that DH being reworked + somewhat minor killer buff made survivors shit their pants. For real, so many of those people were so reliant on DH that now their chases instead of lasting 30-40 seconds last currently about 20. No connecting looping skill was needed, and now they are just unable to do anything so they just say that doing gens quickly is the new meta, where not really. You can still get solid loops for 30-60 seconds if you got some skill.

In the short, I think everyone is overreacting AF. I may be wrong, but let's wait with judgement until new meta cristalizes and we see more constintancy from survivors. That would be it. Have a good one everyone! <3

  22. What has been killing my matches when I play survivor is the amount of people DC-ing or newer players who don't understand certain key aspects of the game yet. Yes, killer is a lot stronger now, but my chases haven't really changed all that much (I never ran DH). The main difference is that, if you get caught in a bad spot, you know have less distance between you and the killer after a successful hit, and that has gotten me downed a couple of times. But that is honestly avoidable, if I had just been a bit more attentive.
I don't get why they nerfed DS so hard. Keep the 5 seconds, disable after a full heal and once the exit games are powered.

  23. good opinion, most playes are stupid as fuck. Thats the truth. Same with the doctor and some paticular perks, OP af and noone adress it. I mean this anti heal aura, in comination with other terror-radius perks is nearly impossible to heal on small maps.

  24. This Patch feels like a mixed bag, on one hand i love that there's a "new" meta that isn't just 4 man Dead Hards and so on. Playing killer is less stressful which is always a positive and you feel more like a threat.

On the otherhand i feel like Survivor got hit hard this patch. All of the top tier killers are now even better then before which is very depressing to play against. SoloQ is a nightmare atm and even SWF can at times feel hopeless which is not a good thing, like you said yourself in the video, i don't think dbd is meant to play "competetive" since at the end of the day, this is a adult version of Hide n Seek with meathooks.

That being said, killer has had it rough for 4 years and i think it's just about time for the Survivor role to get the end of the stick. SoloQ has to be their next priority and then we'll be in a better state health wise.

  25. If they reverted the buffs to killer's basekit solo queue would go back to being half bareable instead of fucking unplayable. Personally, i'm not the best survivor in the world and I could barely loop before the buffs to bloodlust and killer's recovery on swings, now I can't even get into a chase without getting downed immediately. And before anyone says "oh it's a skill issue 4head" that's exactly my point. I'm a casual player and i'd like to not be severely fucked if I make one (1) little mistake in a chase

  26. They increased gen times without increasing hook times as well. This just shows a very clear bias with this update. It's completely miserable to go against camping and they made it more effective. There need to base game changes to prevent unfun situations. I'm tired of having to run a perk just to prevent a possible unfun situation that should not be a thing in the first place.
Eruption is also actually extremely stupidly designed. Why is there a perk that stops you from playing the game for 25 seconds just because you decide to play solo?

Thank you for making this video addressing the problems. So many people act like it's just imagination when it clearly isn't. Most people aren't being objective about this game.

  27. Funny thing about camping and tunneling, they only work if the survivors let them work. If the killers camping or tunneling, just go sit on generators, and the killer will get at most one kill.

  28. I don't use dead hard, but losing that perk has made games harder to win. Teammates chases are shorter and gens take longer. Most games end with 3-4 gens left. Tunneling is worse, though I'm not sure why since killers got many advantages with this update and don't need to do it. Despite their acknowledgement of it in the patch notes, BHVR did nothing to prevent camping in this update. The other issue is crybaby survivors that DC/give up immediately for certain killers and anything else they don't like. Thana is also hurting morale. Yeah, some games might be winnable, but it's really hard to care partway through games that just go on forever… especially if you get it a few games in a row.

  29. In regards to the camping and tunneling situation we've (including killers, mostly killers in fact) have been telling BHVR the solution for years to prioritize hook count over kill count to incentivize more aggressive and skillful play, offering boosts not only to your rank but bloodpoint gain as well for succsessfully getting twelve hooks on a team would be a perfect reward for the types of killers that actually put in the work in the game beyond just living out some venom laced revenge fantasy, and with the bloodpoint incentive for BBQ gone along with literally any motivation to not just wait out people on hook, this change is needed now more than ever, BHVR put in a hook counter for killers to keep track of their progress in a match yet it represents nothing in terms of how well the end game screen is actually going to grade their performance, BHVR have been staring at the cube slot with the cube in their hand for years now and it's honestly getting kind of exhausting.

I was playing and on my first hook (No monstrous shrine) I went to second hook and as soon as I did my teammates started coming for me but 1 of them weren't doing gens they were URBAN ENVASIONING around the map and after I got off the killer started camping other survivors and she had a mori. And then my teammates who haven't been hooked once left me. And then I died. Makes me big sad.

  31. Killers are still using full gen slow down builds tho. So killers previously complaining about needin to use them in the old version doesn’t make sense to me bc it didn’t change the meta for killer the way it did for survivors.
