The Entity: The True Horror of Dead by Daylight

The Entity is an enigmatic creature. An ancient being incomprehensible to the human mind and the ruler of Dead by Daylight’s Realm. Today I want to explore the Entity and describe it in the best way I possibly can. I want to explore its origins, its motivations, its realm, and just about all I can fit into this video as concisely as possible.

At the time of this video’s release Chapter 31 has been released, with new killer The Unknown and survivor, Sable Ward!

  1. My question is why does the entity feed on emotion , what would happen if the entity was not fed by emotion ? would it starve ? . And how was it created since it has its own mind and understandings. And btw who killed the observer ?

  2. This is kinda related to The Entity but not really: I always thought it would be neat to have a Killer who either immediately or over time, understands the power of the Realm and Auric Cells, and is trying to find a way to defeat the Entity and save everyone (or as many as they can.)

And when it starts looking like it could be a threat, The Entity tricks it. It offers it a book of knowlege that can in time and theroy be used to achieve this goal… but it can only be updated, and slowly at that, by serving a Killer role and causing survivors suffering.

The magician is no fool, and knows it is a trap, so questions the entity on it. The entity is as upfront as it can be: It's counting on the darkness in the magician's heart and desire for using their powers for their own satisfaction to sidetrack him from his noble goal of saving everyone. It is being legitimate in it's offering, no trick, because the Entity thinks the magician will fail, even should they ever learn how to achive the postitive outcome they desire, because by that point they will have fallen to evil desires.

The Magicain then accepts the deal, because their own research has stagnated, and they are hoping that they can find a answer by causing minor suffering to survivors, and stop this threat before any worse occurs.

(Gameplay thought: this would manifest in their attacks and mori being as swift and as humane as possible (Though perhaps still brutal even if quick and painless.)

Only time will tell wether the Magician is right, and they can find the answer to save everyone survivor and (Sympathetic only maybe) killer alike by causing pain… or if the Entity is right, and by the time they finds themself able to do so, they won't CARE.

  3. The entity is the embodiment of evil, you said it’s the collective negative and fear of all humans so yes it is the embodiment of all those bad things, and it doesn’t have to consciously or conciously, when again, it’s not either rlly its a accumulation, it can still be evil. having good intentions but doing bad is a pretty evil thing, intentions don’t change what the entity is doing lol and ofc it loves these bad things so it’s “need” them

  4. The lore of dbd kinda reminds me a bit of cod zombies story. you have multiple characters going through a paradox cycle of endless hell, traveling through multiple universes/realms and traveling beyond time and space. and at the center of it, malevolent god like being

  5. BIG QUESTION ITS BUGGING ME SO MUCH: when a killer /survivor is added in game did they join the hame or did we just gain access to a killer thsts already in the game? Is Spring trap and pennywise in game but we can't Access it yet?

  6. I see the entity as a child playing with toys, bending them, breaking them and when they don't entertain anymore they get tossed aside into the void. When it's bored it just gets new toys againagaingandagain. One big bloody toybox.

  7. Its kinda crazy to me that if you gave alan wake a typewriter and some time he could probably write an escape route for all the suvivors and himself out the realm. I dont know if he could do the same and kill the entity and the killers and then have a happily ever after for everyone but yeah crazy.

  8. A little bit of fnaf info. In Fazbears frights stitch wraith story, Dr. Phineas Taggart studied emotion and it's power. His studies came to that the most powerful emotion was love, but the emotion which was even stronger was Agony. Hiw this connects to dbd is that the entity could have found that agony is more powerful therefore filling then love and peace .

  9. Wow I didn't realize but the Entity has a lot in comon to dark matter from Kirby, both are dark fogs make of negative emotions with their conscience spred around many things that have been existing even before time

  10. It’s interesting you point out the ancients feeding on positive emotion. Why the , does it recoil when taking Kate? Was the Entity too far gone to the point where positive emotion can be weaponized?

  11. To be fair, I feel like calling it "evil in its purest form" is a bit of a bold conclusion. The fact that if feeds on fear shows that it needs it in some way to survive, and there are already 1-2 "embodiments of evil", there is no sense magically and logically for there to be a third.

  12. I imagine the reasons she doesn't feed on more positive emotions are:
    1. Love and empathy are harder to solicit from people than fear and suffering.
    2. She might be just genuinely evil and sadistic.
    3. Dbd but sex instead of murder is probably less entertaining.

  13. I believe the entity is really Ungoliant. It would be awesome if that were true. Ungoliant has the ability to possibly pull all this off and much more. Also being able to pull Lord of the Rings stuff into this game might be a golden ticket.

  14. a theory I have the reason why the rpd is falling apart is because the entity uses memories to make the realms, and the rpd is based on the memories of three different people each who traveled through it in different states (Carlos Oliveira had no heli crash, but Leon did). These jumbled memories could be messing with the map a bit.
