I don't think BHVR was trying to discredit leakers, that isn't their mojo. They saw the reaction to Bubba being removed and realized "oh shit, this isn't going well." Thus, they decided to take the bad deal in favor of their community. Keeping the hands that pay them happy so to speak

many creators start making new content before even getting the licence, that's why you see many things that are real leaks but never came out.
As when they actually would get the licence, that's when they announce the upcoming stuff.
The skull merchant and the survivors are excellent example of the original idea of having a licenced dlc of the movie "PREY".
BHVR made Pinhead lines without permission, makes me think they started working on this stuff in case they got a second chapter, not them getting the license and then it falling through in negotiations. Or even that being a WIP before Netflix even backed out

Ok, this might seem like a REEEEEALLLLYYYY long stretch… however what if it was at all possible that the Singularity was actually supposed to be Vecna? The idea of spreading out points that can relay first hand information to vecna, and being able to teleport to you cuz he always shows up near you, however almost stalking you first (waiting for the scan to finish). Ik kind of a shot in the dark but jus thought I would share a fun theory.
