In this analysis we’re going to talk about The Shattered Square in the new Forged in Fox DBD chapter. The map is incredibly unbalanced for more reasons than just having a 1000 safe pallets. We’ll also compare it to Fractured Cowshed, The Game, and Midwich. What is the solution to this endless stream of gutter tier maps from BHVR? #dbd

  1. I took Windows-Of-Opportunity once on this map- And saw enough pallets to have a stroke.

And besides guaranteed windows like shacks' and MBs? The only ones I saw were from Z-walls on the edges of the map.

Definitely no balance for pallet & window counts. Not in the slightest.

  2. You know in the ptb, the shattered squared look like it would have been so fun, a good map if not killer sided but consdiered the last… 3 maps have been pain for killers it was nice to see us get a fun map, but then bhvr as per usual, decided to be like "nah you guys deserve to suffer and we will hold the hhands of survivors"

  3. I appreciate the research u did, I didn't even think of other maps when I was looking at the new map and instantly thought yeah this has to be a bug but on the other hand thinking that the pallet spawn on the new map is intended is even more scary

  4. The worst thing for me is too big line of sights. It doesn’t mean that all maps should indoors, but some maps need more foliage. Generators aldo need to be in cramped small locations with few escapes to make them harder to contest especially for SWF.

  5. Huzzah ! Regardless of it being fixed now I always appreciate getting a notification from you on here or on twitch.
With so many creative players of dbd I would love to see what they could do with a map editor.
Plus content creators could design them with their communities also I really think it's a great idea.

  6. How about they do the maps how they want and then tweak number of pallets untill the win rartio is the desired one which I believe sits at 60% winratio for killer right now. It's a very cheap solution and provides immediate and clear results. We could go in depth and even remove certain spawns entirely if they are too OP or ensure some are always there and to some degree this already exists within DBD.

  7. best and most balanced map is dead dawg saloon.
It has good 3 gen, they can be protected by almost every killer if you make sure to get rid of the elevated generators first. Strong main building for survivors, small size so its easier to pressure and a good amount of strong/decent loops. amazing stealth and jukes can be done there.
    Perfect map for dbd

  8. This is a good way to look at it. A lot of killers are really upset about this even tho its a map killers are doing pretty well on rn. Haddonfield has some crazy windows but in the middle of the map its just a big dead zone with 1 or 2 pallets which once used split the map in half. The new map is not very balanced overall tho. With only 2 balanced landing spots and a few good lockers for head on, it locks the players into using dead hard and sprint burst more.

  9. I think the biggest issue is the size of the map coupled with the pallet situation. In other pallet dense maps you either have extremely small maps that are usually two story, giving the killer more efficiency in transitioning chases and greater likelihood to pressure multiple survivors spontaneously. This map having the issues you've mentioned coupled with it's overall size makes it absurdly strong.

  10. 2 things, behavior needs to do something else bacause at this point they will just overflow the next maps with palets or windows.
About the the map editor for everybody, YES PLEASE, Overwatch has that and it is the most fun thing of the entire game

  11. My favorie maps are Suffocation Pit and Azarov's Resting Place, the 2 hourglass shaped maps. I wish BHVR would make more maps with interestings shapes to the map boundaries. The past 3 new maps (Eyrie, Garden of Joy, Shattered Square) have all just been big squares, which is uninspired and encourages holding W without even seeing another survivor along the way. DbD is more fun when the map design funnels players into crossing paths more often. I wish they had more unique interactions with the map, like "crow bombs" on the swamp map, which alert the killer globally to one or more survivor's general location around the main building. It'd be cool to have a map with a pond or river that slows both killers and survivors crossing it & maybe shows the blood of injured survivors lingering in the water for a while. Even just a door that's controlled by something OTHER than completing a generator (like how it is on The Game) would be loved.

  12. Another small issue is that all the unique looking maps are ussually the worst for killer ex: Eyrie The Game and the new map, and theres no way the killer will trust me i brought an offering for a nice looking map rather than just getting the advantage . . .

  13. A game that does community maps well is killing floor 2 tho not only are the maps really good looking but a lot of them are interactable or after a wave is done u go to a different area

  14. It doesn't have to be perfectly balanced for every power, just for basic 115 m1 killers, and the fact that BHVR has gotten it so wrong multiple times in a row implies to me that everyone at BHVR plays killers with high mobility and/or pallet shredding*/ignoring (so like nurse, wraith, huntress, blight, hillbilly, Wesker, bubba, dredge, legion w/ iri button, hag with double range or mint rag, maybe spirit). This leaves them mostly terrible for: trapper, Myers, Freddy, pig, pyramid head, plague, legion (no iri button), deathslinger, twins, clown, demo, Nemesis, Sadako, pinhead, Ghostface, Oni (good luck getting the first hit), doctor, Knight, and artist, or in other words everyone not in the first group other than trickster

*By pallet shredding I mean faster than pressing space

  15. For me, I have to say that Hawkins is still the best map in the game… I'm so disappointed I didn't get to play it on the last week… I would of loved to of just been a tour guide Bubba, showing off the map one last time… Before it was removed forever…
