In this episode of Dead By Daylight, I read over the backstory for the new killer in DBD, the Unknown. Is he an alien, a malevolent creature, or some government experiment gone wrong?

  1. The entity was already known to reach a cross dimensions in order to collect victims and killers like Dwight and freddy. But reading how it got the unknown somehow makes it more terrifying. Who knows which new killer it'll collect hell it might get the man in the suit next if you know you know

  2. I sort of see The Unknown as a concept and being you summon by giving it form, almost like Dredge. However instead of it being based off emotion, instead The Unknown is something that prefers to be well Unknown. When you look at its design its an amalgamation of all these contradictory ideas. Is it extra terrestrial, the tentacles would indicate that. Is it eldritch in nature, the survivors disappearing after a mori indicates that. Is it the result of the military experiment, the power and addons indicate that. Is it a skin walker like being, the way it wears skin and mimics voices would indicate that. Is it just a legend of a serial killer, the use of a fire axe indicates that. All in all, The Unknown is like this because it is unknown. We don't know what it is, or where it comes from. And whatever it is, it revels in this mystery, mocking survivors and even seeming to break the Fourth Wall at times. It wants its origins to remain a mystery as that is what makes us afraid of it. Its why writing the lore from the POV of Oliva makes sense, she gave The Unknown form and this seemingly summoned the Entity as well wanting to take this Unknown thing into the trials. Its also why I don't mind the teasers being misleading, it plays into the mystery. We all theorised something completely wrong and it wanted that. Why else would it allow itself to be seen on cameras and be recorded? Because it enhances the mystery, The Unknown. Anyways that's just my interpretation lol.

  3. One connection people seem to miss: Unknown appears to take on forms of whatever people imagine it to be and shortly before the entity took it, Olivia thought "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if Unknown and the entity met?"
Olivia may have just summoned the entity with that thought.

  5. The Unknown has no origin, because all the rumors and theories surrounding him ARE his origins. It's an amalgamation of all that. The axe ? Rumors of a slasher killer. The tentacles with the mouth on his back? Rumors of an alien, or a demon summonded by a dark cult.
Hallucinations? Rumors of experiments seeking to create a hallucinogenic gas altering reality and creating horrors to terrorize those who inhale it.

The UVC? Rumors that the military recovered an exotic specimen to create a biological weapon.
The imitated voices? The rumors of whispers heard in the darkness of a cinema.
His look ? Rumors of a failed experiment or a monster, which escaped from a compound and is now roaming the woods, and probably the drawing that Olivia made roughly to show what the Unknown looked like.
The survivors killed by his mori and who then disappear? Rumors of people who disappeared without leaving anything behind.
His voicelines in the lobby are there to deceive players. All he wants to do is create more rumors, more theories and legends about himself, to strengthen his power again and again.

He KNOWS that people are speculating about his origins, and playing it to partly spread fear, but also to mock

If you ask me, this killer is a kind of Tulpa, something that appeared passively because of the strong beliefs in the various urban legends surrounding it. Every time a rumor about him emerges, he becomes stronger, and gains a new ability. If one day, someone claims that the stranger has wings and can fly… he will get wings and be able to fly.

  6. I wanna say its a skinwalker, alot of people speculated it when the teaser first dropped and it still fits the bill, just not alot of people also dont know what a skinwalker is so its also understandable sone dont notice the similarities.

Basically a skinwalker is urban folklore of creatures that can change their appearance and mimic the voices they hear to lure in victims/prey similar to the Unknown and it often lures them in with pleas of distress as the skinwalker in most cases only hears that from its victims as it kills them.

For lines like “ill send you a postcard” honestly when i first heard it i thought itd be hilarious if it picked that line up from a toxic survivor that was escaping the match

Anyways. The cool part about this though is skinwalkers being urban folklore is it opens up the windows for other folklores/cryptids we have like Wendigo, Mothman, bigfoot. All that scary stuff that people barely know about.

  7. The entity seeing another eldrich horror and goes “Oooo! Piece of Candy!” And snatched it.

I can imagine the entity dragging The Unknown into the fog while he screeches like a kid being dragged by his mom or dad😂

  8. I agree with the theory that it’s some kind of alien. It’s trying to bait victims with all of its tactics. I don’t know what’s more creepy, the fact that we know so little about it, or the fact that it appears to not know what we are either… causing it to improperly mimic people in such a Horrifying Way
