Today I am going to quickly talk about my least favourite change in DbD history. It’s a change many of you may be slightly confused by because it doesn’t exactly sound too bad, but it’s one near and dear to my heart.

At the time of this video’s release Chapter 34 has been revealed on the PTB, named Doomed Course, with new Killer The Houndmaster, and Survivor Taurie Cain.

  4. lets not be shmucks here, this addon was not broken, it was more of a rulette of how good the survivors were compared to your micro management.

    i have personally lost a lot of times with this addon and have seen others loose too, in my opinion this was one of the most fun addons in the game, it was special because it made you play in a different way then normal.

    i hate this game for removing the fun from the game.

  5. Saying something as powerful as Oni's free aura reading on injured survivors or Demo's auto detection portals should be COMMON is crazy x_x

    But do massively agree they should have more fun and unique addons instead of phasing them out, and its sad to see this one possibly go.
    Although as much as I loved this particular one in concept, it was also mostly used in toxic Hex defense builds =P

  7. It's a shame because silly add ons have the potential to be balanced in such a way that they completely change the playstyle of the killer in a viable way. The Plague's broken tablet is a perfect example, not only is it strange and force a different playstyle, the playstyle is actually very good and can compete with the strength of her normal power.

  14. the add on just gave free info without having to charge Of The Abyss on active portals. This was heavily used on Devour Hope builds. Getting free info on survivors passing near an active portal without having to charge Of The Abyss is a literal fire, forget, get value add on. You and the many who share the sentiment of "BHVR is getting rid of this unique effect" are not mad about Demo losing a unique add on but losing free value add on. It would be the same case if Singularity had an addon that automatically tagged a survivor with a slipstream when they were within 16m of any biopod not being controlled and BHVR changed its effect completely. But no complaints from when they changed this add ons original effect for something stronger

  16. As a Demogorgon main, I feel like I have a lot of room to speak on this. My issue with the PTB is that it does nothing to actually solve the issues with Demogorgon and the changes made were just short-sighted bandaid fixes that don’t actually address anything meaningful.

    Demogorgon’s addons, roughly, are not terrible. The issue is that they are functionally boring and there is basically no variety whatsoever, and whatever variety does exist, BHVR nerfs it since having alternative play styles is too much for BHVR to handle. Lifeguard Whistle did have instances where it was oppressive, so I understand why it had to be changed, but I disagree with how they changed it, since it is functionally boring now. Furthermore, they just nerfed the Sealing Time addons, which were hardly used, because they were used in the Lifeguard Whistle combo… which makes no sense, since Lifeguard Whistle got reworked so why nerf these addons as well?

    The changes just take addons that were already niche and were hardly used, nerfs them or reworks them into being even more niche and used even less. This does nothing to solve variety. There is no reason to run any other addons other than Black Heart, Rat Liver, or Barb’s Glasses every single game, and instead of giving us more Shred addons or bringing more variety to the addon pool, they made it worse and gutted alternative play styles which only serves to shoehorn players into the same build every single game.

    I love Demogorgon. They are my favorite Killer. The issue is that BHVR does not love Demogorgon nor do the respect the player who play Demogorgon since they constantly slap us in the face with underwhelming changes, neglect, or nerfing things that don’t need nerfs. I was hoping the Demogorgon changes would contain more than what we got and instead I was left disappointed and frustrated.

    Keep in mind as well, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this as well. Leprose Lichen, Eleven Soda, Deer Lungs, Rat Liver, Rat Tail, and Red Moss have all suffered this fate over the years and it breaks my heart that nobody cares enough to talk about it.

I don't get this, that add-on single handedly forced demo to play with 1 or no gen defense perks at all making the gameplay more unique since almost every other killer uses some sort of gen slowdown. Why would ppl even defend this change yes it would make it more difficult to cleanse a totem but in exchange the killer is at the survivors mercy when it comes to gens so it creates a different type of playstyle for both sides where ones side has to choose weather to double down on a gen or try to get rid off the totems so then the killer has to essentially play pearkless.

  20. i agree with this vid because the life guard whistle in its beginning was meh and its change made it more unique to make the portals as mini traps but making it have 2 portals is a true waste for rare now if it did what it did before ontop of it old debuff and increase it to about 15 or 20 seconds then it would be more useful i believe the debuff was exhaustion

  21. thats just dbd in a nutshell moving farther and farther away from fun in favor of the game being serious when theres no real ranked mode anyways its sad i hope they perma add 2v8 and other modes in the future and more fun perks and addons and break this game out of the toxic sweat meta its in

  25. It's actually insane how they do this. One of the better and more unique add-ons in the game, changed to basically something not important. I don't main Demo, but I still loved the ability to always know when someone was messing with a portal. It made me feel like Demo was a slightly higher tiered killer, and yet Behaviour has clearly shown us that nobody can have unique abilities and can only increase a number.

  28. "Portals shouldn't be placed by totems" Crowd, heres a cool fact!: Trapper can use totems. Your argument is invalid. Hag can (kinda) use totems. Your argument is (mostly) invalid. Twins can abuse the ever loving fuckle sticks out of totems. Your argument is invalid. So many killers have ways of protecting totems, directly nerfing Demo's singular way of doing so is ridiculous.   29. from what I hear, the reason is that some demo players would essentially make a "impossible to cleanse devour hope" sort of build where they'll just come from downtown as soon as they so much as sniff someone near the devour totem and just clean house.

    but I agree, I do wish to see meme add-ons and quirky ones make a return to the game. freddy is unique in that he gets a few different ones that change the power to fake palettes, but I'd personally like to see more add-ons that make fun changes like doctor's add-ons that change his shock shape (though they should be brown and not green) and whatnot. give us a pyramid head add-on that makes his attacks fire backwards instead, have dracula's hellfire spawn in a ring with one, have unknown's UVX no longer explode, or perhaps even explode into confetti
    that's one thing I like about clown, the party bottles and tape. best add-ons.

  30. I feel your pain in regards to this. They ruined the lo pro chains for Billy which changed how his power worked and honestly was a lot of fun. But people complained and now the add on is useless

  38. even though basekit demogorgon has been buffed in this patch, his already terrible add on variety has been made even WORSE in this patch, every demogorgon ever already only runs barbs glasses + black heart (by far his most useful add ons) and yet bhvr have decided to gut the already unpopular portal add ons so now youre even MORE encouraged to just use shred add ons, and there are only like 3 or 4 of those, and only 2 of them are actually good.

    i am really happy about the basekit portal buffs (especially the travel speed increase from 20m/s to 28m/s) because overall its a net buff for demo which is nice considering hes a rather weak or at least mid tier killer, but seriously they have to do something about the add on variety, there is basically only 1 playstyle for the demogorgon thats actually viable at this point, and killers like that become really stale and are hard to main cos you just get bored

  41. Literally just returned to the game after a very long break because I was frustrated by killer treatment from the devs yet again, only to find that one of the most interesting and weird add-ons is being effectively removed. Awesome.

    Side note, for folks saying Devourgorgon is impossible to beat, it's not. It's definitely a hard strategy to counter, and part of the counter is catching it early, but it can be beaten if you're able to juggle the totems well enough.

    I think I'm going to take another break from this game, maybe I'll come back if they make Shattered Hope basekit. If.

  43. they're indirectly nerfing scratched mirror meyers too by increasing his tier 1 speed but keeping it the same for scratched mirror. Doesn't make any sense. It's literally an add on built for jumpscares. What does a slightly increased speed do for it?
