I spent a lot of this custom match just testing all the weird intricacies of the tail whip and oh boy this thing behaves so weirdly.

  1. I think the reason it looks so janky is because alien's actual height hitbox never moves, despite the fact he gets down on all 4's. So when you do a tentacle attack, it still attacks as if you were standing when you're really crouching so it's at a weird angle

  2. With killers like this it would be cool if BHVR would release the visuals of the hitbox so people would know what's going on.
Look at Nemesis, knowing how the wip hitboxes work makes it much more reliable to play, because you understand how the power works…

  3. Try and imagine Xenomorph's tail is a Huntress Hatchet and that should cover it really, just imagine the pill shaped hitboxes on survivors and that's why it seems weird. It's the same as people getting hit by hatches like a few inches away from their actual model.

  4. Ohtofu played a video of xeno on debug mode showing the hit boxes. The attack is angled down. So if you are looking straight the attack start at the middle of your screen and end below it. Also Xeno can curve his tail. And yes I mean curve. During last few few frames of his attack you can curve it to the direction you want. So if someone is couched on the other side of something you can curve it over to get a hit. Takes lots of practice.

  5. It’s the animation that’s weird. The hitbox is about as normal as they get in this game. Just be aware that grazing anything invalidates it, so don’t flick so hard, strafe.

  6. i dont get why this killer has a counter in the form of a turret when nemsis has about the same or maybe better power. this killer wouldnt be OP without them in the game

  7. To me the tail doesn't even feel weird or jank to aim most of the time, it only feels like that when you're trying to hit the precise through window/over loop snipes but otherwise it feels mostly intuitive. I love the potential of this thing and how precise it is because all the wild shenanigans you can do like hitting over some of these loops is very difficult to do in practice and on the survivor side can be very easy to mess up if you understand how it works.

  8. I think it sends out a large, hatchet like hitbox followed by a thin one to make sure the tail doesn’t clip through things it shouldn’t. Essentially like a hammer. I think this is why people can “hook” it over some obstacles

  9. I feel like "This is extremely clunky. I don't know how it works yet," isn't a phrase you should be able to say even after only playing a game or two. That is a huge failure on the devs' part to make the "use case" obvious and clear to both parties. Yikes. (Nemesis has this problem too, and it wasn't clear until Otz did his deep dive)
