  1. The game is at the best state it has ever been. I only wish they would rework and update the older licensed killers like Myers, Freddy and Pig and bring them up to today's standards and power level.

  2. Old DBD had some technical issues for sure, but it's soul was far better. The atmosphere and energy of the game was more authentic, compared to its sterilized self now.

  3. I can't believe I'm still able to pull parallels to TF2, but TF2's official competitive mode was an absolute flop much like DBD's, however BHVR still has a chance to go a different direction. I'm already seeing them go down that direction with their constant changes and reworkings of perks, Valve (before they stopped balance updates) listened almost entirely to the competitive scene for balancing weapons, and when they changed "Unbalanced" weapons, guess what, the comp players stuck with the same weapons they had already been using. The point I'm getting across is, when you have players that play to win in the most efficient way possible, it won't matter if you change the game to fit their standard, they're still going to use the same strategies and perks that they've been using.

I can say for certain that BHVR has been leaning away from that direction, because if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong) the most efficient way to play Killer in a Tourney was to confirm second stage on your first hook, and with the removal of hook grabs, and the "Anti-Facecamp" mechanic, that strategy no longer works.

  4. I dont like the compete side of dbd at all i like to goof around and have fun both with killers and friends run unoptimized builds and see what we can do with it. a fun challenge they recently added was the randomize perk challenge, we wish that would be in the game as a mode or setting so when the match starts you get to see your perks just for reference.

But lately there are more and more things i dislike about the game. maybe its just burn out or maybe this isn't a game for me anymore x3 but thats okay i have had my fun and whatever demographic hits now targeting i am sure will have fun with it hence forth . There are other games out there 🙂

  5. There is a lot things in video I don't agree with and that's whatever, but there is one thing Coco was saying that drives me nuts. It was him saying that they should turn off sbm for a bit so players can use more meme builds. I think that is stupid and a sign that the dbd community is super entitled. There is nothing stopping them from using meme builds now besides the fear of losing. Who cares if you lose if you're using a meme builds. It should be expected. Side note I do meme builds a lot on both sides and still "win"most matches. Sbm as is almost useless right now.

  6. I think part of the issue is that over time all the perks and abilities they add sorta force it to be balanced, I feel like there are answers to everything which in an asymetric (horrorish) game kinda removes some fun.

  7. removing the skill-based matchmaking would be the biggest mistake
last year when I bought 3 new ppl over to play DBD, they when bought the game, the matchmaking must have been off as we where a 4 stack of 4 brand new accounts(I have like 1-2K hrs but created new account to have us at new MMR) from ~10-15 games (2 days of games) we got a total of 5 gens done 3 games we got 1 gen done and 1 game we got 2 done, the rest not a single gen was done, granted I was not play hard I was more teaching on how to play the game, needless to say, they said the game was the least fun game they have played and never touched it since.

While I get you want to go against killers that are weaker or survivors that are weaker to have fun but thos that you want to go against will not have fun and leave, and then you will be back to where you are at where only the top ppl are still around but now you have no way to get new ppl as your mid to lower skill players will all leave and the game will slowly die off. you and im going to guess 90%+ is of the mid to high-tier players

  8. I usually agree with you coco, but here I have no idea what you're talking about – to me the game didn't use to be more fun and if anything I remember tons of complaints from back then, it's almost like people completely forget the things they hated and focus on the things they miss just to hate on the current game – there hasn't EVER been a time in DBD where the majority was happy, that's just bull. I think balance favors the majority more than those people having "fun" which usually means broken stuff that mainly benefits them allowing the game to be easier for them at the expense of someone else.

  9. I think there should be two pools for matchmaking. One that functions the exact same way as it currently does and then one that is completely random with who you get paired up with. The latter could pair you up with the best or the worst of players giving an RNG style to it. Afterall, RNG is at the core of casual gaming so it should satisfy the casual player base fairly well. It's a playerbase that is split on casual and competitive so the matchmaking should mirror that.

  10. I think both sides sweating for the 4 Man is also an issue. Like we all know the story of Killers slugging for the 4K. So I won't touch on that. But Survivors do it too.

The amount of times Survivors could just take a 3 Man but absolutely refuse. So they botch the save from the basement on the opposite side of the map and now a win has become a loss and the Killer now has a 3K/4K. And I say this as someone who has been on BOTH sides of this same scenario cause I play both roles. And now the Survivors are all huffy about it.

Like let the man have his one hook or one Kill. Instead of just snowballing cause god forbid the Killer get even a single thing. Instead they snowball out of greed.

I see memes and jokes about "Boohoo I get left to die after doing a really good endgame chase." I WISH my teammates left me behind more. I'm like "I did this sacrifice play so y'all have time to get that other save, do the last Gen, and get the gate. I want yall to take the 3 Man. Instead yall make it all for nothing trying to save me from the corner of the map I took the Killer to ON PURPOSE. Like pleeease."

TLDR: Not every game needs to be an absolute stomp. 3Ks are ok. A 3 Man escape is ok. A tie is ok (2K and 2 Escape). I tire of all these "NO. EITHER IT'S ALL OR IT'S NOTHING" players who throw away perfectly good games we had already won.

  11. When there wasn't party chat and survivors could only use their own perks with the exception of the 4th perk being any universal like spine chill etc.. that's when it was fun and truely asymmetrical.

  12. Balanced game is good but the mmr system ruins the fun, I'll go weeks without playing the game because I don't wanna sweat every game.

Also would like to go against a variety of perks instead of meta slave builds.

  13. One thing DBD has going for it is the Animation and Artstyle look. Its a very appealing game and just nice to look at. Their Original Characters are pretty memorable as well, like Huntress or dare I say Trickster.

  14. Whenever someone says "I miss old dbd" 9 times out of 10 its just survivor mains being salty that they can't use super BS tactics on the killer players anymore or win as killer with super scum tactics.
I'm reading all of these comments and when most of them are: "I miss Old DBD where I could run around the killer on an infinite loop with an insta-blind flashlight while all of my friends do all of the gens in 3 minutes where the killer cant do anything because I have the iframes on demand E perk and everyone has insta-heals so even if by the extremely slim chance of getting downed I can just get three free heals mid chase! DBD was surely more fun like this for everyone!"

Lemme actually quote some comments I found on here:

I feel that the reason why some veteran players miss old dbd besides nostalgia or the game feeling scarier, was just how exploitable and scuff the game was. Infinite loops, broken perks and broken mechanics made players that took advantage of these feel like they were really good. The game still has issues but from personal experience is in a much better place. But with the introduction of so many perks and mechanics I find it harder to keep up if you're a casual player.

As a survivor main, the ds meta was the best time in dbd history lol. Nothing beats forcing a ds at the exit game lmao

The thing is, it's just progressively gotten more and more killer sided. I don't care what anyone says, baby killers complain, survivor perks get nerfed… never ending story.

I don't miss old DBD. I remember playing survivor for my first few times and getting Insta-Mori'd within the first 15 seconds of the game by a wraith, or the dozens upon dozens of other games where I got Bodied by a 4 man swf running the most broken builds and loops they learned from OchiDo and Noob3 videos.
