On this commentary video, we rant about Dead by Daylight creators that leave the game, only to come back, and the feelings surrounding when this puzzling thing happens.

people act like you can’t change your mind on something. jeez.
I would personally say im on team not welcome back. I think its okay for people to retire or leave dbd and come back to the game after some time, i actually think its healthy for most people. And i would say for most content creators, they aren't burning down the house so to speak when they are feeling burnt out and want to try new things (i.e. retire)
BUT theres a difference between people needing a new change of pace, and then people making a big outburst against the game and then coming back, it makes it very hard to not view their return in a non-cynical manner and give them benefit of the doubt. I do believe people can change for the better, but you have to earn that second chance with good behavior and not repeating the previous behavior that garnered the backlash in the first place.
theMrHeadache, This made me laugh so much! Thanks for sharing!
I'm not looking forward to the crying "why are you not playing Springtrap in this new FNAF game you poser"
Granted, I know have some bias here, but I do find the "I'm leaving the game forever" to have always been disingenuous no matter which game or community this behavior occurs in. I find it silly to even denounce a game as publicly as some of the bad actors do in the DBD space. Like, if you don't want to play the game anymore, just… don't? Why the grandstand?
There are a lot of awesome vids about this, but because no other asymmetrical game has succeeded as well as dbd, dbd has no competition and therefore everyone is stuck with it in the asymmetrical genre
Let me finish watching the match man
I am all for welcoming them back in the end, but they do need to acknowledge they end up hurting themself by doing the whole, "GUYS I AM QUITTING THIS AWFUL UNBALANCED GAME FULL OF MEANY BAD BADS"
I have a friend who has quit DbD so many time now I don't keep track anymore. I have seen them rage uninstall the game, just for them to reinstall it and see them playing it the next day. It has gotten to the point where they tell me, "I quit DbD." for me to just respond with, "Alright, I see you on tomorrow then."
But on a more serious note as you said, don't light the house on fire on your way out. Just be genuine, if you don't want to play anymore because you are burnt out of the game that is perfectly fine. If you want to play another game for a while go for it.
I'm glad to have more creators back like Dowsey, he figured out the real potential of twins back when they were considered a really bad killer.
We need content creators like that who will push the potential of killers and he has already made headway on becoming a skilled Chucky player.
But yea DBD content creators should avoid making manifestos about quitting because DBD still is the best option of asymm games so better to keep it as an option.
I’m super glad dowsy is back. 😊 I think any boast to the player base is helpful.
I completely understand the content creators who make this "manifesto". It's not like they're normal people playing the game, they create content and often feel pressured to play the game even if they don't like it, feel pressured to maintain viewing numbers, etc and this ends in burnout. I don't judge them. I myself take breaks from DBD from time to time and whenever I do I have my reasons and I always come back because the game has improved and has new things. It's not a crime. At the end of the day we are all human beings and it's just a game. sooner or later the servers will die too.
we got monto back, all we're missing now is the goat noob3
…bbbba….bbbbbbaaa….your face…is…BALD!!!
But on to the actual topic, i feel like what a lot o people actually mean when they say "they quit [blank]" they likely mean "Man, i just need step away from this thing for a long time". Of course this isnt a universal thing, but when playing a game for long enough and start to learn the ins and outs of a game you also begin to notice all the problems with it. Its best to just not focus so much on the issues.
I think a lot of people may get frustrated when content creators come back after saying they weren't because they initially did something that a lot of us have tried to do before or have said before. Like "I want to quit DBD". Once they return it's like damn they can't even commit to their promise of staying away from the game. It's like the love/hate relationship a lot of us have with this game. We want to stop playing it because it makes a lot of us feel miserable but we come back somehow. The result of making DBD your life… Sadly
I don't think it's nice to bash any form of media that is your bread and butter. You can criticize it, sure. But what happens more often than not is total disrespect for the people who work in this game. For those creators who left in a big uproar, I say good riddance. Dowsey was a fog whisperer. He may not be paid, but according to what I've seen OhTofu say about the program is they receive auric cells from BHVR, so basically they're sponsored and can get new characters, new skins, etc. For anyone to imagine they would talk trash about their sponsor and nothing would happen is simply dumb. Yeah, the hockey analogy was far from smart but the way he (and others) humiliated that guy in particular was too much. BHVR's only mistake was to only have "punished" (wow, he lost his twitch shirt privilege) Dowsey. Besides all that I've seen him being unnecessarily rude to people on his streams who simply had doubts about the game of what was happening. If you only treat people who pay for a subscription well, you're basically a prostitute.
Solid vid as usual! Honestly, I’m indifferent when people leave and come back. Like burn out is a thing, people can change their minds after being away for a while is a thing.
My.issue is when creators look down at people who continue to play when they quit.
On a rewatch, I don't think I made this too clear: But this is not a video meant to take a shot a Dowsey or anyone who's quit and come back, just rather analyzing why people get mad when scorned creators return and also exploring how it's a net positive when said creators return. Maybe a pointless clarification, but hey, rather safe than sorry!
