  1. Yea I have another channel that is popular for one specific game. I tried to switch off that game multiple times my viewership went from average 5-10k to literally 500. It aint even worth it to a degree. It aint the audiances fault, it just basically shows you that the people arent there specifically for you, theyre there for you, doing something specific, like playing a game. It kills my drive to make videos on that channel so I jsut make a bunch of random channels and spam videos to them because I like making videos.

  2. Even as a small streamer I feel this. I have 1 variety day a week and I always say that day is for me not for the numbers but it does still hurt to see even my regulars not show up cause I'm not playing "my normal game"

  3. Yeah, that's something that I've been noticing that I do. I've been trying to do better with stopping by creators I like when they're doing something different. Except for FPS/Battle Royale, I don't care about those types of games.

  4. I've always been of the mind that streamers/YouTubers need to establish who they are and do so as early as possible. When a new viewer finds a video/stream of yours and sees that you only make content around that one specific subject that they are into, then, yes, they are more likely to leave once you shift focus on something else. You have pigeonholed yourself into that one specific thing. You are "the DbD/Fortnite/CoD guy" in their eyes now. Why would they care about what you say when you decide this one time you're gonna do something on, say, Resident Evil or Silent Hill? But if they watch that video, and then they see all of the other different things you do, you have effectively communicated to them that you are not just "the DbD/Fortnite/CoD guy" – you have other interests. If they enjoyed your commentary/personality/style enough in that one video, maybe they'll check out the other stuff, too.

I believe that streamers/YouTubers need to accept that switching over is going to reveal a handful of stuff they may not like (their community isn't as big as they thought, or maybe more people are probably there for gameplay and not for the streamer themselves, or maybe even they just aren't good as an entertainer). A friend and I had to realize this a couple of years ago after we spent a whole year trying to grow our channel; no one was staying for us, they were staying for the game. We weren't okay with the possibility of trying to stream one game all the damn time, but we also came to accept that maybe we just weren't entertaining to watch. Fast forward to this year. I've been putting out my own videos here and there. I finally hit 100 subscribers back in October, more than doubled it a few months later. Is it a growth as fast as catering to one specific demographic by focusing all of my attention on one game? No. But it's something. And when I do upload something, I'm proud of it, it performs as well as I hope it would, and it's something that I can say "this is me". I am happier, and because of that, I feel I'm putting out the best stuff I ever have in my 10 years of YouTube. Not just on my channel either.

I see it in your numbers and content, too, Bran. You are here to talk about DbD because you WANT to talk about DbD. However, you also want to do other things. Does it make you as much money as DbD? No, but it is YOUR channel. Therefore, I should be here for YOU. I, as the viewer, should come in and understand that you may not stream games I am interested in. So, why am I watching you in the first place? Because I think YOU are insightful, I think the games YOU stream are interesting regardless of my personal interests, and I think YOU are entertaining to watch. (YOU are also one of the few streamers I watch who is still up during the unholy hours of the night. lol) Even though I don't play DbD anymore, I am still here because you make what you are talking about interesting and you do so with passion. And I'm sure many others who hang out here, in your Discord, Twitch, etc., share the same sentiment as I do.

I'm not saying that switching over is easy and people need to suck it up if they don't wanna stay pigeonholed. Huge losses are involved. I get that, and switching games/topics might reveal some ugly truths about your channel, you as an entertainer, your community, your content, everything. I know because I've been down that road several times (10 years on YouTube, only just crossed 200 subs a month ago). But streamers should recognize when their name is becoming a costar to the game itself instead of the other way around and nip it in the bud if they don't wanna be "the X guy".

  5. They only get most gen z shit Kids watching them playing that shit game.
If they stream something else, they would not get those views, and then they would need to get a real job and add some value into society, and we cant have that.

  6. Yep. When I played/streamed DBD I got 45 viewers per stream, and was growing. Now I don't play it very often, I am lucky to get over 15 to 20 people hanging out with me. Viewers who don't return for the other stuff is why people who make streaming our "job". People need to look at themselves in this topic when they fuss about us not playing "their" game.

  7. That's just streaming in general everyone loses tons of views when they switch games unless they are the very chosen few variety streamers. And you are defiantly right I have noticed lower numbers when ever im not playing killer as well. I love when people tell streamers to quit playing the game that is there main source of income. always makes me laugh every time
