  1. Problem is the whole balance of the game. Doesn’t matter if boil over got nerfed, coh got nerfed (not really tbh), haddonfield rework etc. the game is just balanced around new survivors which leads to very big changes to people with brains that play survivor.

  2. Its cuz the game is too survivor sided and the devs pander to one demographic. nobody wants to kill, and theres no development on the game dynamic. Its just skins and season passes…thats it. They want our money with out giving much in the way of development back to its users

  3. I play dbd with my siblings for fun, we really don’t care about winning or losing as much as long as it’s a fun night. We have been considering playing other games cause it hasn’t been fun anymore it mostly playing against the sweatiest killers ever with the 1 random normally killing them selves out of the game on there first hook by taking there chances and not struggling

  4. The design, approach, and attitude around SBMM and it's implementation from Behaviour proves their out-of-touch perspective and philosophy in their game. I mean…just answer me this, if dbd was never meant to be competitive, as the devs have admitted, why are they implementing a matchmaking system based on exclusively win/loss? If it were meant to be casual, as they have implied, surely SBMM would take into consideration literally every other score event in a match rather than win/loss, right? I think SBMM is revealing the crucial imbalance of the game; and by that I mean, a good match for the killer is unfun for survivors, and vice versa. In a system that favors perfect plays, and only perfect plays, to win and nothing else, by any means, it is revealing what is and isn't fun in the game.

For this SBMM system, there is no room for player choice, the ultimate root for fun in a game, as any immersive and/or builds dedicated to just fun will ultimately result in almost exclusively boring and stressful matches for killer, or frustrating or dull matches for survivor.

The goal design of dbd is specifically time-based, therefore either side, especially killer, experience this constant pressure on their gameplay no matter what, and yet Behaviour's design approach seems to be tailored for more experimental and quirky strategies, or mechanics that offer unique and varying ways to play. However, their SBMM system, implemented by themselves, is favoring anything but that, which essentially results in an even further pressurized goal per match, no room for player choice or varied builds, a constant need for priorities other than what the average player may want, and a game made heavily competitive, in a framework thought of as casual.

TL;DR: Behaviour doesn't understand why people want to play their game, they don't seem to understand how it behaves, themselves, they can only grasp hard statistics but even then that is a fraction of the truth of the game and can be seen a myriad of different ways, and tightening the entire flow of the game around a system that doesn't belong is slowly killing it, seemingly irreparably.

What could fix it? I think either they, remove SBMM and completely rework their player-rating systems from the ground-up in a design lead by community feedback, which would never happen for financial and egotistical reasons, or they deliberately break apart and loosen up the meta by taking huge risks with perks and mechanics by redesigning the dbd we have today into something not only more immersive, but something that gives players the options to have fun in a variety of ways.

Neither of these fixes I have any confidence will ever happen. I think it far more likely Behaviour will continue to double-down and run this game into the ground, then find a way to blame the community as a whole, or in part for their failings.

  5. I used to play DBD so much as a casual gamer. I stopped right before Oni/Yui came out and came back in time for the RE release. I spent that time back finishing getting everyone's teachables unlocked so i could start getting all perks unlocked for everyone. MMR was kind of wack, but I could deal with it, even though I was getting red rank survivors in a silver lobby. After everyone's teachables were unlocked I decided to take another break because at that point i had been playing this game nigh non-stop for about 2 weeks straight. During that time, the Cenobite released and we got the reveal for Boon totems. Seeing them in action I just had to step away from DBD. Boon totems wouldn't be so bad if it was a one-and-done kind of deal, like hex totems since that's what they are, hexes for survivors. But seeing them be able to reapply over and over and over again is just so frustrating because there are 4 survivors in a game, that's so much more coverage than what a killer can provide. And the whole interview where the developer was saying If you don't get kills you've not played skillful enough is just so exauhsting to even look at, let alone deal with.

  6. I think it isn’t SBMM in terms of matching players of equal skill, and isn’t boons or CoH. It’s the fact that SBMM makes playing SWF suck because it takes a billion years to find a match. We’d rather play 3 shitty matches than us wait for 10 minutes in a lobby. When it takes 10 min to get into a game people stop playing.

  7. Boons are the literal worst addition, and the fact that most of the fun killers (e.g. Pinhead, Ghostface, new Onryo killer) are just average tier. God tier killers like Nurse and Blight are just leagues ahead. You can make average killers work well but it’s just a turn off for me if I wanna play the more fun ones. The game also feels way too competitive for me. I just wanna play casually but the community and game atm is awful. Game is only decent if you survive with friends, or if you play optimally (which really isn’t that enjoyable in itself).

Worst part is that if you play casually for fun your MMR will probably drop cuz of the current system.

  8. Killers can't pubstomp as often now with MMR which makes them feel bad. They want easy 4ks against solo queue megheads. On the other hand, late nights when MMR doesn't work well, survivor is hell because you get teammates that are brand new to the game, so that would explain why survivors are leaving.

  9. I personally think MMR is a huge issue, especially with how they simplified it too much. It's gotten to a point where majority of games are predictable and becomes just a task with a lot of frustration. I want this game to do better but from how the developers communicate (or lack there of) plus how stubborn they're being on never having a health chapter. I can safely say that if MMR doesn't kill the game, it'll be the game itself. Remember this game is running on old 2015 and 2016 programming. It just has a lot of content stacked onto it. I say they desperately NEED to rebuild the game from the ground up and go from there. That way a lot of issues are fixed and or prevented from ever happening

  10. I haven't even opened the game since october and when the hype kind of started to come back they did the Q&A which was one of the biggest disappointments so far. "Nope, not planned", HORRIBLE takes and explanations and avoiding topic was the entire q&a, embarassing, not trying to go off on anyone personally but holy shit this company lmao.

Their updates suck, takes months for them to do anything and then the entire update is +1 Killer and +1 Survivor or a few minor perk and add-on changes that do precisely nothing to the meta, how much longer is the perk meta gonna stay the EXACT same? They NEVER nerf meta perks and it's SHOCKING (!) how rarely they seem to put actual work in, +1 Killer/Survivor gets boring real quick, you see what they do and you see their perks and after a couple of rounds you've seen it all, that's it. Look at how rarely they ever buff or nerf killers, something that in other games you see changed sometimes EVERY OTHER WEEK. Who cares if they accidentally were to nerf Spirit too hard? She's been top tier for years lmao, overbuffing Pig on accident? Who cares, nerf her again later, give her some spotlight for once. It's not like this game has any competitive value anyways so if something is a bit out of hand at least it's something exciting to experience. This game is already boring enough considering all the objectives boil down to hold m1 vs kill, they really can't afford to have such rare and terrible updates, of course why would they care? People buy everything they release like it's gonna change their life for the better when in reality it's just Feng Skin #3933.

When you're on tight schedules you have to choose wisely how you spend your freetime and this game is not worth it right now, unless you're new of course. I have mentioned 1 problem this game has and there are many more, like for example how frustrating it can be to play solo or how terrible their understanding of the game is (it's like they don't even play?? WTF). Let's not talk about rewards or the disgraces that events are lol. Yet I highly doubt DBD is gonna keep losing players, on the other hand I believe it's gonna hit a new personal record this year, summer at the latest and it'll recover well enough. Say what you will, BHVR is a company after all and if companies earn more money than they ought to considering the work they put in then that's the consumers fault that the company has no reason to work harder and this is exactly how it is here. Keep buying up every single cosmetic they release but then PLEASE do not complain about the lackluster work they do.

  11. Why did I dip for 3 months.
    1- maps extremely unbalanced. RPD
2-boon CoH,and totem spawns. Circule of healing destroyed my main stalling strategy hitting survs, as a legion main its unbearable to use my Power and not get value, as a hag they now can blow the traps and be "safe" because its Just a hit and If i Chase i get genrushed If i rearm they do gen and heal to explode more. Hex perks always spawn at bad spots i have more than 20 clips of me spawning with lethal pursuer and someone doing my hex because they spawn on top of It.
3-crossplay, console is very trash optimized lags on every unhook or gen that pops, so in the middle of a Chase you lag and the killer dont, you cant turn off crossplay because the matchmaking doesnt make a room just for you. Also lots of hackers at least 2 a day.
4-balance and options, no KeM support for console, No way to make a ticket of pc cheaters. Also bad turning rate for killers like blight, oni, huntress (the most bearable one), nurse, trickester (the worst one to use) deathslinger, and pinhead. Meanwhile pc blights and huntress Go brrrr.
999- fucking auto aim make 360 works because you char simply swings instead of lunging, or make hit the wall. THE AUTOAIM WORKS ONLY ON ATTACKS, like ffs If it exists put it on the killer Power too, you make something that would help on shots and put on lunges WTf.

when a surv dies continue hitting the hook youll see the autoaim exploding your camera up

  12. I think it's just sad I have been playing DBD for like 3 jears now and it's breaking my heart a little bit but I just dont have fun anymore.

Since sbmm was Released I had to sweet or it was just bring it was simply Not fun anymore and I am Not saying it was the whole reason why I Personaly stopt playing and yes I say it boons the are Not entierly Bad but I would like to See something like they are Not an infinite like they are now.

My Personal opinion is just remove sbmm and get the rank System back It was fine and fun IT was a good Mix out of challanges and something to chill. I would love to See that Happening so I can return to DBD and have fun again

  13. For me it's the grind, dead hard, and circle of healing. I also think SBMM has made the game more unfun and has encouraged everyone to be sweatier. Overly sweaty games are not fun for most people.

  14. I personally think in order to fix the game right now, sbmm needs to be disabled and boon totems should be removed, if they don't do both, then the game will continue to lose players every month

  15. I need to take breaks from this game, between the grind, the meta perks, and toxic players and cheaters. The game also feels repetitive after awhile. They definitely need more objectives or more to do, boon totems and scourge hooks aren't the answer to that.

  16. Im not here to see the video, I'm here to send a message to this community, why is sbmm the problem? Well actually is not, we are the problem, we can't afford to play without winning, this system turn ppl crazy, If u want to prove to be good you need kill/escape the trial every game, but is that OK? You really need to do that? Is OUR decision if we play like a scumbag or try to enjoy the game, Every survivor game now ppl decide to leave others behind only for some sbmm points (useless points) the same for killer camp/tunnel for the same reason, think about it, is worth to sell your soul at cost of the fun? Just think about it.

  17. Skilled based matchmaking? Is it when new players like me 4 ash going Vs red 1 rank teamed up survs? Well hell yeah, very balanced and joyful thing.
Whatever side you trying to play.
Going surv, 2/4 died or quit instantly.
Doing killer, suffer lowranked flying cheaters or high rank squad that literally can't even get close to them at straight run.
Or is it just me that lucky?

  18. october was when boons got introduced, alot of killers left the game or barely played cuz of that and sbmm, me included AND lets not forget the devs clownfest of a q&a livestream lmao

  19. Disagree with the boons, it got a tiny nerf and is still very powerful. Boil over was a stupid mistake that they knew was gonna happen if they paid attention to PTB games, but any easy counter was people just got slugged and left so it died on its own.
MMR is very broken but they seem very stubborn to changing it.

  20. I love how very little of these comments relate to survivors. Some killers are so sweaty that it makes it complete garbage to play. Why bother playing when the killer has complete domination. Every round is winnable by a killer.

  21. Boons. Me and all my friends quit this game for this reason alone. A shame honestly because I was so looking forward to Sadako's chapter.. but then again Elden Ring is arriving in 7 days so fuck 'em.

  22. yeah no skill based matchmaking + the NFT deal + their blatant lack of care. Those were why I quit, and I played since launch. I no longer care for the game so long as devs who don’t care about anything besides turning a profit are in charge of the game.

  23. Simple solution , quickplay with no SBMM and no limit to a SWF team. Then a ranked SBMM queue that doesn’t let you run a full swf so it’s more fair for killer. (Maybe you can still duo queue so it’s fun with a friend) You can even limit Cheaters and newbie players in ranked mode by ensuring their account level is a somewhat reasonable level like 40-50 to ensure everyone in the lobby has a basic understanding of the game and perks unlocked.
