The Xenomorph in Dead by Daylight is a very misunderstood character, but I believe there are some common reasons people feel this way that I highlight in this video! For more Xeno info, check my guide:

  1. I have some gripes with the direction they took with Xeno, mainly the fact that they catered to people who aren't fans of the original film. RIP PTB chase music. Nostromo windshield wipers theme. 💀

  2. I'm a fan of Alien since 26 years ago, this is to me the worst videogame implementation of Alien in all of videogames where you can play as one. I hate playing killers who come with mechanics that allow survivors to turn off your power, imagine if survivors had an ability they can press so Blight couldn't use their rushes or clowns couldn't use their bottles for 20 seconds, it is the worst type of counterplay the devs could come up with, the counterplay should be designed like Nemesis or Wesker vaccines, Pig's traps, Sadako's tv's or pinhead's box, it should be something extra that helps the killer if survivors ignore it and slows down the game a little if survivors interact with these mechanics properly, playing Alien feels like you are being punished for just existing, because turrets are very easy to setup, give away your location and kill any stealth potential you could have, like you know, in the fucking movies where aliens are silent and deadly? yeah… turrets also make a bunch of noise and shoot flames at you, which for some people is too much of a sensory overload (in my case i can't tolerate it, it feels worse than getting hit with clown bottles or the old doctor madness vfxs), then you HAVE to break the turrets, giving up chases and losing hits or even downs because you will lose your power if you don't destroy the turrets, it feels like too much of a pain in the ass for not enough rewards, at that point i could just continue putting more hours into Nurse or play Nemesis who feels way more consistent to land your tentacles (at least to me) or Play Demo if i wanna be a cool monster with an actual fun power to use and with portals that waste a lot more of survivors time and give you free info and map pressure

  3. I've been a fan of alien my entire life as it was the first horror film I'd really seen and while I've been lurking in this games community for years learning that the Xenomorph was going to be coming to the fog was what finally convinced me to get the game.

I've played lots of killers since then and I usually play whoever I feel like but Xenomorph remains my highest prestige and most played killer and I still love there game play the most.

  4. Hey, perfect timing for this to go up! I just got WAY back into DBD the past week or so, and have been trying to actually learn the game this time around. Of all the killers I've tried, Xeno's been one of my favorites by far, and your guide was instrumental in knowing what to expect at a base level.

The skill floor might be decently high, but I've found (in the super shallow end of the pool, anyway) that they've got a ton of easy to understand tools that have provided some nice training wheels. The tunnel system makes maps like Midwich much less intimidating, the built-in tracking lets me go hard into slowdown perks so I have more time to learn, and the tail (while there's a lot of nuance to it) is pretty straightforward as a window-and-pallet punish tool for the moment (with a lot of headroom for improvement as I get more comfortable with it, of course!)

Anyway, huge ramble to say you've been a massive help and your guide is an all-star resource. I wish other killers had anywhere near that kind of resource available.

  6. I actually felt an extremely similar way with xenomorph back when I was about p10, I still do feel like there are some odds and ends with things such as control station spawns, however.. I made a reddit post once complaining about things, and some guy told me to search up "TheMrHeadache" and I shit you not the day I did that, not only was I not complaining as much anymore, but I also had a heck of a lot more fun playing the xenomorph after that as well.

  7. As a p100 xeno that mained him from the start, i agree, he's frustrating and that's kind of the reason why he is not that played. I love the artistic direction they went for the turrets based power, but it makes him feel too sluggish. It makes it so that you have a quite good anti loop power, but on the other end you have to deal with an annoying super easy to use counter that gives free information to survivors. Your tail is also incredibly frustrating for both sides because of how weird the hitboxes are and how unfair it sometimes feel when you get hit. I really wish they succeeded in their wall-climbing xeno prototype because the tail while being good, doesn't really feel like the xenomorph at all, which is also something people were disapointed about, you don't feel like the perfect organism, and that kind of kills it for a lot of people. But i do quite appreciate the character as it is and it could have been a lot worse

  8. I really hate how often zoning is brought up about xenomorph when he's probably the worst out of all (mid)range m2s at it because he has terrible range and inability to actually hold the attack to guarantee a hit because the delay is so short.

A big part of your range is pretty much pre-firing the ability while survivor is not even in it's range so that you walk forward some distance and by the time hitbox appears, the survivor is within range. And you MUST learn and do that all the time to succeed in chases. Which leads to you being unable to actually see what survivor is planning to do and react accordingly, while forcing them lose distance and hesitate like other ACTUAL ZONING killers do.

You also cant cancel the attack if you decided to activate it and the summary delay is just 0.1 second shorter than such of Nemesis. And if you hesitate to use it, survivor gets the window/pallet and moves away from line of attack before you get to hit them.

Ofc you can still punish animations and hit people predropping the pallets too late and you can also get free m1s/much easier m2s because survivor psyches themselves out and tries to predodge your power bc they dont know the range, etc,etc but that isn't really the xenomorph's fault or flaw. It's just something all killers are capable of doing that this point in chase if they have survivor that close to them or if they dont know what to do.

Xeno's crawler mode is indeed extremely powerful and oppressive, especially if you don't use turrets to extend the chase, but it's not unmanageable in chase. It has a lot of big limits that force the killer to learn extreme precision and predict what survivor will trying doing a lot if the killer wants the power to actually pay off.

  9. Something that wasnt mentioned in the video, but also feels quite important to me is that Xeno is stimulation overload. The flame turrets are extremly loud, the noises of the flames are extremly loud, the hissing after each hit is really really loud and his chase music (while it is awesome) is also

i feel like disproportionally loud. It kinda has the plague issue, when taking corrupt purge that her chanting is so extremly loud that you cant hear anything else anymore. So if they were to tune the extreme noises down a nodge, i think it would help alot in Xeno being picked more often. =)

Good video and keep up the great work <3 =D

  10. People dont like to play against Xeno because his tail whip is cheap and cheaty, the tail whip hitbox just doesnt make sense, and what you see isnt what actually is, whenever RNG affects actual skill usually devolves into 50/50 situations, wich is not skill, just luck.

  11. Wait, why would Xeno being top 5 be a bad thing. Isn’t being scary the point?

My issue with Xeno is his stealth stance already has a cost in that he’s low to the ground and doesn’t have the same benefits someone like Nemesis has attacking over palettes. And while tunneling is aesthetically cool, I feel like it wastes time that could have been mitigated with someone like Sadako, who can just teleport on the fly without worrying about tunnels or flamethrowers. The end result is that Xeno always leave you feeling somewhat hindered, like you’re always fighting with one arm behind your back. The tunnels dont even really hide you because the flamethrowers give away your position.

I think this will be even more of a problem in 2v8, as people will likely prefer to pick Sadako and Nemesis to have the best of both worlds over Xeno. It needs work to relieve those feelings of hindrance, because they are valid, people don’t feel it for no reason.

  12. As a fellow Xenomorph main, I personally love playing it, and I also love going against it whenever I find one.

I see why some find the turrets frustrating, and I agree, but not entirely, since when you get a good hold on the killer, it feels nice to play as.

As for why I think it's not played a lot?

The fact that some still constantly cry about how "dbd ruined xeno, it's missed potential, it's the literal definition of be careful what you wish for".

Sure, it's fair to think that Xeno is underused in certain areas, BUT despite that, we still ended up getting a killer that is quite strong once you know how to play it, and on this, there is also Ripley too, but that one is a different situation.

  13. I do like the gameplay aspect of Xenomorph, but I don’t feel like I’m a Xenomorph. I was hoping this would be the first wall climbing, super fast, and stealthy killer. All in all I do love the Xenokitty regardless!

  14. My biggest issue other than learning the tail attack was the fact that Xeno is so short in crawler mode and it made tracking ppl difficult cause I don't typically play short killers. Obviously flame turrets aren't exactly fun to go against especially during the learning and mastering of the character, but dear lord does Xeno's ceiling make up for it, especially when you get to threading hits over and around loops.

  15. This is a minor point, but I think part of the reason that xeno isn’t picked all that often is the fact that a lot of people play dbd as a sort of roleplay simulator for their favorite licenses. This is especially true for killers like ghostface, myers, and wesker. Xenomorph in dbd, while very strong, doesn’t necessarily feel like you’re playing as the unstoppable monster from the alien franchise.

Freddy has the same issue, albeit significantly worse.

I personally like where xeno is at right now, she falls into the same category as killers like pinhead, singularity, twins, and hag. Not that many people play them, but the people who do are incredibly dedicated to that killer.

  16. I think a big issue is people not understanding the counterplay and just plopping turrets right outside tunnels rather than putting them a tiles where the xeno is cant see them coming as well and is forced to eat them.

Also it sucks that most of their addons are not very interesting, mostly revolving around making turrets weaker or giving effects on upon them being destroyed.

  17. While on the topic of Xenomorph, I was hoping to ask one of the best for advice. Ive been practicing Xeno lately and finally have been getting comfortable with the playstyle. I really enjoy Eruption, Nowhere to Hide, and Pop (though Im not sure if post-nerf its still a solid choice for generator breaking build).

However, I personally have been struggling to find that last 4th perk that brings it all together. Call of Brine is okay, but it usually has a solid chance of not feeling impactful. The one game I had with Oppression, it felt like it wasn’t doing enough on its own. I was wondering about your thoughts on Dragon’s Grip or Surveillance being used alongside the other perks? What is your choice? I don’t own Freddy or have intent to buy him, so I don’t have Blood Warden. Thanks for your time!
