DbD can seem tame when it comes to its horror elements. To fix that, today we will look at some more of the scariest, creepiest, and most disturbing parts of the game.

At the time of this video’s release Chapter 31 has been released, with new killer The Unknown and survivor, Sable Ward! We also recently got the 7.0.0 patch which finally brought along a rework to The Twins.

  1. If the water tower in McMillans has a void that could be used to escape the realm the entity could’ve put it up there to give the survivors hope but put it out of their reach in order to make it hard to escape

  2. 3:13 i personaly dont believe this you also see her getting taken by the fog and its not because mkeila never talked about her that she doesnt exist also back then the creators dint had cable in mind i find it a bad theory to be honest

  3. I like the idea of sable being an imaginary friend come to life or alternative personality to Mikaela. I'm sure we'll see more with tomes. I think bhvr will find a way to retcon the lore to fit it all together

  4. I like to interpret The Unknown’s “ dungeons long forgotten “ line as The Unknown having existed and murdered people for ages, sort of like how The Entity has existed for thousands of years and has been taking people from varying time periods. So the line “ I lived in dungeons long forgotten “ could’ve come from a victim during the Middle Ages, who was at one point or another, condemned to rot in a dungeon, but seemingly made it out, only to get killed by The Unknown.

  5. saying it’s weird that sable isn’t mentioned is a stretch. mk was most likely written into the story velie they even made the character sable. Plus just because you’re close to a friend doesn’t mean you don’t have multiple other friends you also close too. She just mentioned them instead of Sable in her lore.

  6. Were Elk is definitely more dangerous than huntress because its hard to hear the wind up so you end up either getting clocked in the back of the head or running into a wall then getting snacked anyway

  7. I’m pretty sure if we have to give a reason in game why Mikaela doesn’t mention is because Sable is kinda a massive a-hole to her constantly throughout her lore. The unknown also doesn’t really have a “true form” the lore it has as bare as it is implies that it’s an incorporeal being that only forms when it’s given shape via ideas, the tentacles it uses are apart of the idea that it’s an escaped alien parasite from a military base and I think the reason the survivors vanish into smoke is it’s them being taken to whatever plane the true unknown form resides so it can consume them

  8. depressing but likely possibility: Sable considers Mikaela an old, close friend, but Mikaela doesn't feel as connected to Sable for one reason or another, and Sable hasn't been informed of this change in the relationship, so they're in a one-sided friendship

  9. I guess you can just explain in the lore that Sable is from another universe then our Mikaela and so they actally don't know each other because she maybe just didn't exist there but to be fair that whole Multiverse thing just works very well to simply explain away all plot holes

  10. "And i dont want to know what a being like doctor finds scary." doctor watching his notes catch fire

Its possible one of the chimeras evolved into the entity seeing as its known to have some power over time. Unlikely, but possible.

  11. I think the huntress isn't slayn but maybe an ally to the Elk given as a tolken. Or, maybe they fought, and he claimed her mask as a trophy. Idk, but her being slain is a smaller possibility than them being allies.

  12. I like the angle of Sable being obsessed with Mikaela. Them having a one way friendship.sable wrote both names acting like they're together. Mikaela didn't mention her likely because she wasn't conceptualized yet. But it's fun to think Mikaela had a para social relationship with her so strong she jumped into hell for her

  13. 0:56 I think a more plausible theory, is a lot of maps for example are taken from a persons memory, so what I was thinking is that the elk is just how Huntress sees that elk that killed her mom, in her own twisted mind that is. Underlying fears and all.

  15. 10:41 Well the thing about patient screaming and acting as if he’s in the trial could potentially indicate the Entity works similarly to the Nowhere in the Little Nightmares series, it starts out by testing people in their dreams, basically giving them nightmares to see how they’ll react and deciding from there whether they’re worth recruiting. Possibly it gets a small hit of energy from the fear caused by such nightmares but it’s not as efficient as doing the trials with live humans. Alternatively perhaps this really is all a dream and that’s why the characters can be killed repeatedly without issue.

Honestly the Darkening lore reminds me of Dragon Quest, in Dragon Quest 3 the final boss is a monster with ice powers who rules over a world he’s plunged into eternal darkness, and in Dragon Quest 8 your opponent controls creeping vines (thorns in his case) and can take over people’s minds through their desire for power. Possibly even though they were ultimately defeated their souls still persist enough to seep into the Entity’s realm.

Regarding Sable and Michaela mostly she just wasn’t planned. I think they actually planned to have Julian appear as a second survivor since the Entity is stated to have taken him. I wonder what happened to him.

  16. I think that Mikaela doesn’t mention Sable because she didn’t want the entity to go after her? Which makes it even sadder that Sable ended up in the realm anyway by her own doing.

  17. So I am honestly fairly certain that Sable is meant to be coded as a trans woman and this bit about Julian only makes me suspect this more.

    Sable:
Often wears articles that cover her throat (chokers and high collars), articles that slim her waist (corsets and belts) and articles that emphasise her hips (high skirts and low-rise trousers). These are often clothing choices made by trans women to feel more comfortable in their look.
One of her outfits is just straight up in the trans pride colour palette. A few other skins also use pinks, purples, whites and blues.
Her backstory is one of "never quite fitting in", which, while ofc happening to all kinds of people, would make sense here.

There's nothing official written on this ofc and there's still some questions left. Like why they show no signs of recognising each other (it's possible that Sable only came out fully after Mikaela's disappearance). Why if so the names on the stone are still Mikaela <3 Sable (it's possible that since it's from their minds that's how Sable would have wanted it written, or that Sable was her secret name with Mikaela).

So yeah, not airtight but I think it's by far the theory that explains the most. Mikaela met Sable as Julian, they grew very close and Sable transitioned later in life. It works relatively cleanly imo.

  18. I think the Were-Elk is the huntress, but after she'd found a mask that turned her into it, Majora style. Notice how the belt is fastened around the waist, the rope is threaded through the eye holes of the masks, both of which are previous huntress masks. Isn't it possible that she found a mask while walking in the woods that she thought was prettier than the one she had on and ritualistically added her current mask to the rope to make way for this new mask that ended up changing her irreversibly?

  19. There's a simple answer I can think of for Sable not being in Mikela's lore – Sable only exists in certain multi-verses but not the one that original survivor Mikela came from.

Considering DBD has an entire multi-verse, in one universe Sable and Mikela could have met while in another, Sable simply never existed due to the history preventing her existance.
