  1. My biggest frustration currently is the lack of any build diversity for killers. I really hope they consider making a class system for killer with a variety of different gameplay styles eventually.

  2. A point I want to add in regards to the effectively no mmr system for this gamemode is that playing good feels very rewarding (for example hitting an amazing curve on billy or running one of the killers for a minute plus) but playing good doesn't feel "necessary". In regular DBD it can feel like "I HAVE to play well or else I'm screwed" which is not as present in 2v8 and that personally has really felt enjoyable

  3. Make 2v8 available 1-2 hours a day everyday is a possible solution. Most people would queue into the fastest thing they can find in order to play it since it's IMO superior to regular DBD.

That comes with 304949 problems, but there are no bad ideas when there's no ideas.

  4. I think dbd was never meant to be anything more than just a fun lil game, it has a very organic "competitive" scene that was birthed out of people really just enjoying the core game loop

With optimization the game has become less about the vibe or the fun and more about using strong perks and playing to win and 2v8 is so chaotic that the optimal, (relatively) reliable strategies haven't been found yet, meaning it's back to the feeling of just enjoying chasing or being chased.

I think the real takeaway is bhvr need to update and shake the meta up in significant ways instead of being too scared to give perks major reworks or nerfs or buffs, the game is best when it's balanced around unpredictable fun, it's more suited to something like mario party rather than chess

  5. My view on it is 1v4 has a years long identity crisis behavior says dbd is a party game you know a fun little goof of a game but balance and create new perks with the mindset of cold war arms race tactics. All our perks lately have less to do with making US stronger and more to do with slowing or countering the other side things like surviving hits or save opportunities for survivor and more slowdown and gen monitoring for killers and these perks are coming out FAST with the content update (like the vid said first world problems right?) but its so fast that honestly perk combos are not super carefully considered or screened and when players want to gripe about the quality control it goes right back to "well this is a party game not a esport so it shouldn't be that important" 2v8 is what dbd looks like if it says its a party game and ACTS like it 1v4 is a competitive in need of proper ranked mode game clinging onto its old party game image so it doesn't have to deal with the hassle that comes with true competitive modes.

  6. The main thing with ANY game is that, with enough time, people will optimize a game out of its fun.
With 2v8 it's much harder to run into a full 8-man, and if that does happen, they probably haven't had enough time to discover the best combination of class roles and strategies for winning; same for the killers.
1v4 has been around for too long for any form of balancing to truly spice up the game enough so that it's not stressful; core changes need to be made.

  7. My solution would be to have the mode randomly select 2 killers out of 10 assorted people who queue up, rather than having to mix and match killer queues and survivor queues. Sure, it might be less fun to be forced to play both roles, but I think it would solve the issue of queue times pretty naturally. People who wanna play a specific role would queue into 1v4. At least I think it would work, but maybe I'm just stupid lol

  8. I am only saddened because Vecna came in to become my favorite killer in the game and make me like playing again, and then this mode comes out, everyone loves it, and Vecna is likely never gonna be in it T_T

  9. I think a big part of enjoyment is anyone can jump in and do it. I can’t get friends into this game who have never played because they want good builds but that requires a big time and/or money sink. This mode doesn’t require any of that

  10. Ive been going through my challenge backlog because there's alot more survivors to down, gens to kick survivors to chase, gens to finish and trials to escape. Some of these challenges that require multiple matches can now be completed in one

  11. They should make a mode where both sides have a preset loadout because that's probably the reason why this gamemode is so popular right now, it could be a ranked mode if they balance it well enough

  12. I played both sides for 2v8 and I play both sides for 1v4 and for me what makes it SO much better is mmr isn’t working correctly and I’m not getting the best killers or the best survivors and now I can enjoy the match rather than try my absolute best every match.

  13. I think the devs will realize this gamemode needs to stick around. I and many others think the base game has gotten very stale. I have played more dbd in the past week than i have all this year

  14. 2v8 is very good, and i am worried they wont take it seriously moving forward. i do not want them to lean into the casualness, it can be generated naturally but it should not be the focus

  15. I think we've stumbled upon something tragic, they found a formula that is very fun and if they started doing this at the beginning of the game it would make them be able to make content faster and it would be more fun since you take out what makes the game daunting or unappealing as new players looking at a million perks. Unfortunately this late into the game it would be impossible to implement something like this into the game since it would include cutting a ton of content they worked a lot of time on.

  16. I’d really like to see them make adjustments and fixes to this and other modes. Pallet vaults for my little oni. Slight adjustments for 2v8. Fixing glitches like invisible traps. But I’m perfectly happy with this being limited time.

  17. The real big take away for me is that the way 2v8 is done circumvents that absolute clusterfuck nightmare the balancing has become. Survivor oerks are set loadouts. Killers perks are fixed barring combos with a different killer. Its all tuned to work within certain boundaries so you don't have weird outliers or a rotating meta. Dont stress about your build. Your build is already decided. As a killer you have some help to pick up the slack, and as survivor is impossible to get singled out because its hard to keep track of 8 people especially with duplicates. Both sides can just play the game without rhe bullshit that holds DBD back.

  18. People make the issue of how to add chaotic fun back into the game way more complicated than it needs to be. The solution is simple. Get rid of MMR/SBMM and make the matches connection based. Let the varying skill level of players be the chaos. That adds so much variety to games. Some matches you'll get your ass beat sure, but you'll also have other matches where you are the one giving the beating. And every so often you'll get a close match and it will actually be fun rather than feeling forced because not every game is weighing each individuals skill prior to the match starting and forcing a close match for every game. SBMM/MMR is a plague on the gaming industry that causes burnout very quickly. Every game should have a casual playlist with connection based matchmaking for casual matches where you don't care about the outcome of the match and also a competitive playlist to queue into with SBMM/MMR for if you either want a challenge, or are not the best and want to play people on your level.
