  1. BHVR has said maps are the most time consuming and expensive thing they can add to DBD. Unfortunately thats definitely why there are so many chapters without maps, and why most of them will never get a map.

  2. I remember hearing that the map we saw in Sadako's trailer actually was a map that was being developed to release with her, but that it got scrapped. However, I can't find anything to back that up.

I doubt we'll get a map for Leatherface. Evil Dead is slightly more possible, and it would be amazing to get the Knowby Cabin as a map, but I doubt that will happen, either. Seems slightly more plausible than Leatherface, though, since Evil Dead: The Game died. But then we have specifically TV Ash, and the various groups which hold the licenses to the different Evil Dead movies don't seem to like playing together that much, even though the Knowby Cabin was featured in the show.

  3. I've never felt like map diversity in DBD has been a problem, but more so that most of the maps currently in the game are incredibly poorly designed, usually grossly favouring one side over the other. Like I honestly think the game would be better if half the maps in the game were removed.

  4. I want to discuss 4 topics related to maps, in conjunction with your thoughts:
    1. Maps make no money to BHVR and they try to get as few maps in as possible or use assets from previous realms when doing so. Good examples include the new Unknown Map (didn't learn the name yet) reusing a ton of assets from Garden of Joy or the Sanctum of Wrath map using a ton of assets from Family Residence. They also spend about 1 year creating just a map. Just imagine how many cosmetics and characters that they can sell they can make in 1 year using those resources.
    2. We also got only about 4 maps in the past 4 years due to all the reworks they did to the previous maps. I have noticed that they started to bring more maps in for full chapters. Most likely will start to become more of a usual thing after Swamp is reworked and released.
    3. Badham, MacMillan, Autohaven and Coldwind are remnants of the past. I am sure the variations have something to do with limitations at the time, similarly to what is happening in Haddonfield now or how the Sanctum of Wrath can spawn the shack in two different places. The other 3 were actually 1 big map each in alpha, where every single landmark was used in a single huge map. There are some videos about this.
    4. What is annoying to me isn't necessarily the diversity because there is a healthy amount of it here and there. Maybe I am too used to play the same 1-3 maps in most games I used to play before and other games I play now. I am annoyed by how RNG can get you f-ed over. For example, I had matches as killer where the survivors got the god window on Father Campbell's Chapel, but the next match I get the mini window next to the stairs and the window next to the doorway. Sometimes you get 5 tiles back to back in half the map and almost nothing on the other side, when in others you get tons of loops and pallets all around. Sometimes you get 8 pallets, other times you get 15. On the same map, mind you.
    * Fun Fact, Nurse, Nea, Asylum, Swamp and Myers' Wish counterpart were supposed to release with the rest of the base game content, but they slashed/post-poned a bunch of content last second because they couldn't finish everything. They also got the license for Myers so they slashed the wish version.

  5. This is just a map concept I had discussed with my friends for a while but, since the Clown is part a traveling caravan in lore, it would be a really cool detail to have a occasional special tile/tiles that represent the clown on every map. For example just delete a dull empty red forest tile of mothers dwelling or swamp (arguably the largest maps) and have a small little caravan cart or even Maurice just chilling in a small tent! It’s like a little wild card in every map! You just don’t know when it will happen.

  6. I do disagree about removing the variations of the McMillian maps. I would rather some of the OG versions be removed since Suffocation Pit and Groaning Storehouse suck in their original forms but feel so much better to play in the other variations.

I do love the idea of more maps. They did start to design a Pinhead map but it turned out too sexual so they scrapped it. They were also doing a camp ground for Sadako but were worried about it being too similar to Mother's Dwelling and scraped it too. I would love them to bring those maps into the game and if we have to decrease the Badham map versions to get it, I would be down.

So I agree. More maps good but I don't think we should remove some of the better versions of the maps to get them.

  7. First. Please yes remove badham. Preferably all of it.

Sadako map could also be the coast where yoichi was taken. With ocean waves slamming on on the rocks. Very aesthetic.

Also an all kill map coulda been amazing. Having a potential “city” map woulda slapped.

  8. The only issue I see and why they just don't make no more new maps and just keep making the same variant of the same map it's because they're still on too much damage control and trying to make the maps balance for both killers and survivors which I know that is still kind of bull because there's several maps that are just not friendly to Killers whatsoever.

  9. 5:49 or, the French catacombs. I'm pretty sure that was the black vale place where they tested on the twins, it's where elodie was taken, and then French catacombs are just awesome as an idea. Nothing wrong with a French countryside map, that would be cool to, but I think this would also be a pretty good map
