  1. Ngl, this really felt like a scaepgoat, and way for BHVR to shift blame off themselves. This should've been a big deal as people begged for this for years, but seeing how unwilling they are to listen to said consultants and how they are the ones blamed? This really turned south fast.

  2. The only thing I can say about this situation is welcome to the internet. Done taking the aggro was probably the point of making it public is messed up as it is but when you're exclusively a face to such an iconic franchise its not surprising a big gaming company chucked them under the bus at the end of they day the are a company whos only concern is profits

  3. The consultants should be held to a high standards when their decisions will influence the game. I'm not saying they should be harassed or that they're not allowed to make any mistakes, but it's a job they're getting paid for. If they're bad at that job, i.e. their advice is consistently poor and not improving the game how BHVR and the community want… Well yeah, they probably shouldn't be consultants. And us as customers to the live service have a right to voice complaints. Politely and respectfully.

  4. Also gonna add for future viewers. BHVR doesn't have to listen to the consultants. All consultants do is playtest and give BHVR feedback on what they feel is healthy/unhealthy for the game. The consultant program is probably why we have the heartbeat indicator as an accessibility option. Which was an incredible change. Don't go after the consultants for nothing they can do. They do not write the code or make changes. They can only give feedback, so please, don't attack them. These are real people trying their best to talk to BHVR and help us as a community. The onus is on BHVR to listen and enact said changes.

  5. Feels like this is them passively trying to shift blame from themselves, ESPECIALLY considering this is being made public right after this last horrible midchapter. This consultant program has existed for years, but only NOW are we being made fully aware of it. Extremely suspicious if you ask me.

  6. I mean, it's pretty obvious that the program was made public partially to take a bit of "heat" off of the devs, almost every changes since 7.5.0 has been either bad, completely/partially reverted or is being constantly complained about (often for good reason, although some people take it too far) and I wouldn't be surprised if it's starting to get on some of the devs's nerves.

  7. But aren’t you a consultant with your match reviews? And xeno guide ?

    Eg, consultant
    /kən-sŭl′tənt/

    noun
One who gives expert or professional advice.
    One who consults another.
    An expert who gives advice.

  8. There is a reason literally ANY other company doesn't make their consultants public. It's just not something you do, and doing it here was a mistake. I have a close friend who is a consultant and they have already told me they wish Friday had never happened.

  9. It's kind of weird that it was a secret program to gather feedback. I understand why because it sounds like they are responsible for testing new content before it releases, right? (You are the first I am hearing this from)

But still: "We want the communities feedback! In private, and without them knowing…" really doesn't seem to me to have the appeal I think they were hoping it would. And then releasing it publicly? Why now? Why not keep it covert so as to possibly minimize leaks or harassment whatever their goal was?

I think I have to agree with others, and this is either A) meant to obfuscate that this was a thing before and make it look like they are listening to the community more now or B) a way to throw someone else under the bus for a bad chapter… I can't see it being both, but maybe they aren't mutually exclusive goals. Who knows.

I don't like it, don't see it as worth celebrating as it is sort of an anti-anouncement.

  10. Honestly I don't see the point in the consultants program in the first place, it existed for years and throughout that time we had horrible updates because they only let them playtest certain things and even then can ignore the input/feedback. What is the point of that? It existed for years and still we got garbage like skull merchant or twins rework. It is utterly pointless, the only good thing there is, is the fact that the consultants can stay anonymous.

The whole process is utterly is very opaque, the way it is now, the program might as well not exist. We will still have shitty updates where everybody wonders like how the fuck did this get to ptb? So what is the point? Why pay people to playtest when you a) ignore the feedback or b) select what they are going to playtest.

  11. I already saw on the DBD discord some dude saying like "The Consultant Program is doomed" just because one person on it said they thought camping and tunneling was unskillful. They didn't even say they didn't want it in the game, they just said it was unskillful and lame.
