  7. For DBD to continue to grow and have longevity, DBD has to break out of its horror bubble and explore other franchises. And that’s where the problem lies. DBD is suppose to be a horror game, initially at least. But as they acquire more license and try to take themselves more seriously, the worse the balance of the game and the standards of the game becomes. It’s almost paradoxical how DBD trying to stay true to its horror beginnings is hurting it with how big it has become. A simple solution to this is to allow other non horror franchises to collab with the studio, and that will greatly improve its longevity and balances with experimenting on “Okay, but what if the killer isn’t supposed to get a 4K each match”. By introducing other non horror franchises, dbd doesn’t have to be burdened with taking itself as a hard core serious horror game anymore which had caused it to be unbalanced. But the consequence of this is that it’s not exactly a horrifying experience anymore. That’s the paradox of DBD’s situation and with how large of a franchise it become.

    Why do you think other dbd clones that take themselves seriously as a horror game flop, even when they are from or contain licensed content? The only outliers to these flopped titles is The Evil Dead game, and VHS, mostly because they are by nature, not dead serious on being horror and have tons of moments of non scary content.

    That’s why it’s hard to understand the people who dislike certain dbd collabs or creations saying “Well it’s not horror enough.” That’s the attitude that was killing DBD’s balance and the devs passion for the game for a few years now.

  18. For Honor isn’t a horror game and BHVR collaborated with them last year. Didn’t really see people complain about that besides how terrible the collab was for DBD players, all we got was a charm

  36. They should have gave everyone (new) real legacy skins for the bloodweb rework. Instead they gave everyone a boarder… no one pays for boarders they should have known people want skins they should have done it for every unlicensed character that you got to P3 50 with all the perks prior to the rework.
