  1. What I've learned that works when someone comes into my chat to try to be aggressive and attempt to illicit a negative/toxic response from me is to just approach them rationally and ask they'd like to have a mature dialogue about the match. Last week someone came in to call my content "lame" because I didn't "friend the survivors," and when I called them out for being confrontational they tried to backtrack. Sure I trash-talk in the match because mid-match it's fun to trash talk, but it's never personal and I make an effort to convey it's never anything more than just a game. Some people are that thin-skinned and insecure, so they try to make other people miserable just like them.

  2. I had a TTV and his entire SWF rag on me for "camping" his hook, when his friend decided that looping right next to the hook was the greatest idea, leading him into 2nd stage. He got off hook and I downed him immediately, because behold, I was still there being looped. He DC'd immediately. They made fun of my steam profile which is like, huh? and just kept going off on how I'm probably ugly and the works, as well as making homophobic and transphobic comments.

  3. People who act awful to another person and then proceed to say things like "you're the type of person who ruins the community" like they''re not the prime example of that themselves.

  4. I feel like I agree with a lot of what Spooks says, but think at the end of the day, he's still draws an subjectively arbitrary line in the sand when it comes to toxicity. I think he decides to use subjectively toxic gameplay mechanics (ie Tunneling, Camping, slugging), but then gets mad at/shames ppl for continuing subjective toxicity.

Let the record show I think killers and survivors should play however they want. If you get tunneled/camped in one game, come back with DC, Soul Guard, Deliverance, etc in the next. Same with killers, if the survivors are just better than you, finishing gens in your face, etc, bring Noed and camp. I dont care. What I dont agree with is, "oh, THIS is where the line is drawn, dont say mean things…while I make content/$$ talking about said meanness."

If you dont want annoying salt messages after you tunnel/camp to a 4k, there are these things called "settings', where you can block individuals or even all messages from ppl you dont know. Let's be honest ppl, we're here, FOR the salt, and without it, I dont think Spooks' "brand" is really much different from the hundreds of other dbd streamers. So all I'd say is, continue to tunnel/camp, and play however you want. Continue to make fun of salty survivors, I eat that ish up. But feel free to come down off that soapbox about how you think ppl should respond, when we all have the ability/agency to limit communications we deem undesirable.

  6. Yes too many people take dbd way too seriously. Like I can understand something like "Oh dang man I had just a little more and I could've got that pallet! But gg tho!", What I'll never understand ever is "You are a toxic piece of trash tunneler, why don't you get some skill and learn to play better, or just kys", that statement is wayyyyy too common out of peoples mouths in dbds. Its kind of gross when you think about, because how many of them that say that are fully grown adults?

  8. The worst part playing DbD is when you realize that you're losing a lot and feel mad or depressed. It's better to quit the game for a while. But this behaviour for TTV is just wierd to me.

  9. Do I think the TTV was childish, petty and just a mean jerkass, absolutely. Do I think the killer could have read the room before commenting, 100%. I go to TTV channels after matches everytime, win or lose, just to check them out and if they are cool, offer my support. If they are not vibing or just overly heated from the game, I just leave. I feel it is antagonistic when you comment anything, knowing the person is just not in a good head space, and you expect a good sportsman response.

  10. I always like to go check out the streams of the people in my games who advertise it, just to say hey and gg and so far all of them have been good sports. If it was an interesting match especially I like to rewind the vod and see the match from their perspective. There was one stream the other day where the streamer was playing with one of their friends and when the vod got to the post game lobby, and I said "gg wp" I heard the friend say "why do killers have to add the 'well played,' I feel like that's so passive aggressive" which… confused me? lol. Up to that moment I always said "gg wp" just because it seemed right to me.
The streamer was nice enough to be like "nah I don't think they meant it like that" and they were very welcoming to me when I joined their chat, so it was all fine and good. Just gave me a new perspective I guess; since then I've mostly just been saying "gg" unless I have more specific comments in addition.

  11. Lol grades dont mean as much any more. They kinda do but since mmr is on Grades are mainly for extra bloodpoints at the end of the month. Plus if they are in a SWF they have an easier time getting to iridescent grade

  12. Its DBD…. I started playing this game since the start of this year… i was super surprised how harsh the community could be… in my first month playing i constantly bumped into lag switchers, AFK Killers/Survivors ( CLEARLY GRIEFING AND DONT TELL ME THEYRE JUST BP FARMING WHEN THERE NAME IS "LoLbot2352" and they run corrupt, and ruin and go afk lol)
I stopped saying gg every game and now i just wait to see how toxic the end game chat is, when im genuinely trying to play as "kind" as possible, to only be told im shit at the game and need to learn to play lol

  13. God over the years the dbd community feels so,, different and especially on the Ttv side it feels toxic I don’t even say GLHF or GGs in the streams anymore bc of how bad it’s gotten

  14. I always try to check out streams after a game. Sometimes, especially after a good game from me, they'll be tilted and complaining to some degree and I'll just let them be. I'll only drop a gg if they seem to be having fun to try to avoid situations like this
