the problem is even if they fix all of this its probably gonna take 2 whole years for them to do it and by then most of the og players quit already or something like that – i have around 2k hours and recently stopped playing aswell ( blight main before it was cool ) the game just doesnt feel the same anymore compared to say last year before sbmm and boons
Boons should deactivate once the survivor who blessed the totem gets hooked. Or reduce the range to 12m, so its only for a certain zone and not for multiple loops. Boons need a downside.
Regarding your point with nerfing Blight/Nurse. You are right, that this isn't a good idea. But wouldn't it be better to buff weaker Killers then? Not to the powerhouse level of Blight/Nurse, but at least to a level where they are playable without getting the "learning experience". If you want players to step out of their comfort zones, you need to give them a good reason. Same thing applies to the Meta builds.
And last but not least, thanks for the good video! 🙂
On point and very well made. Cant say the same about ur lasagna sadly hensPwease
im personally quitting because i only solo queue and it is hellacious to play, it makes the killer the strongest player in the game, you die on first hook often, etc. and i also realize from playing actual difficult games, that killer is incredibly easy/ doesnt take much to play besides mind games. so i have no respect for it.. all of the killer crying about "suwvivow did genewatows fast" like shut the fuck up, i play 30 minute hopeless games as solo surv vs demogorgon iri head huntress blight hag and twins, i dont give a fuck about your baby killer games.
Rework idea for Circle of Healing: Survivors are passively healed within the totem's range at a slow rate. Perhaps 75% heal progress within 60 secs of standing in the totem range.
ur fucking tripping about deadhard btw lol. that hit validation made it so u are never dodging an m1 again even thru a pallet. u nerf that the game is 10000% more shit for surv
Isn't DH typically used so that the survivor is by the safe point of the pallet/tile?
In my opinion, while nerfing S tier killers might be immediately unpopular, it suddenly opens the door for certain perks to be buffed or changed to become more interesting. Some perks can’t be changed to be much better since an okay perk on Trapper can be oppressive on Nurse, for example.
All of your points mentioned in the video are very solid arguments.
I want to extend on the "matchmaking part" a bit as it is a reason why I don't play as much as I used to anymore:
Queuetimes:
While it isn't that bad to have to wait 2 or maybe even 3 minutes for your game, it becomes bad very quickly in the evening as a Survivor main, where I have to wait 5 minutes for a game. For me, 5 minutes is the mark where it feels like ages for me. (It is the same for killer in the morning hours for my region (EU)).
Also, considering that I had play sessions where I only got new players or players that weren't familiar with their killer, the games were often done in 5 to 7 minutes.
Potential fix: I don't know why BHVR hasn't implemented the "bloodpoint bonus" for a role that is less played at the moment. They asked us about that like, what, maybe 1 or even 2 years now? It would certaintly help with the motivation, in my opinion.
Also, I would like to add a new point that mostly affects new players and, in my opinion, is a reason why newer players tend to leave after a few hours: the grind / the first time experience.
When you buy DbD, you get access to 6 survivors (out of 30 with Ringu) and 5 (if Nurse will be enabled again eventually lmao) killers (out of 27 with Ringu).
While that isn't necessarily bad considering you just bought the game, it feels kinda frustrating having 80% of the characters locked, having 10+ tomes to grind (without the perks/chars to do some of these challenges).
BHVR said they are working on ways to improve the grind multiple times, but I think something needs to be done in the long term. Funny (or sad) enough, they said that removing the perk tiers (which would cut the grind by 66%) is not an effective long-term solution.
As a player since release, it's really sad that BHVR seems to care less and less about their game. You notice that the new developers of DbD aren't as passionate as the OG devs. I hope BHVR will eventually fix these issues. It would be sad to see this game die because of ignorance from the devs.
thanks for the PowerPoint presentation. It sums up a lot of things, and I'm gonna be using some of these in my steam reviews if you don't mind 🙂
Amazing suggestions. I think it's time to move on from the slowdown meta on killer. I as a killer main think it is stupid that I have to always take the same 2 perks and only play with effectivly 2-0 acutal influencial ones. Ruin, undying or Pain res, Dead mans are really opressive and boring. I would rather use more interesting perks that change the playstyle in a meaningfull way. Also the changes to Blight and Nurse I think would be really good. When it comes to survivors, I don't have much experience but playing against them sometimes feels just way too fast without being able to interact or make meaningfull plays.
Much love Hens and I hope this reaches the Devs!
Another thing that would help: Behaviour not revealing the next chapter several months in advance without mentioning it again along the way, effectively killing all of the hype (the Ringu chapter)
The way nurse and blight bottleneck balancing is a little insane. I’m all Ears wouldn’t be that crazy with a 10 second aura read or a 20 second cooldown, but on Nurse that’s broken. If Starstruck lasted another 10-15 seconds it wouldn’t be too crazy, but on Nurse that’s a free down. This kind of balancing constraints is not healthy for dbd.
Great vid as always, Hens! Just watched a video on How To Fix World of Warcraft, now I’m over here watching this. I just don’t know why companies can’t listen to the obvious blaring issues that’s wrong with their games, and fix them. Implementing possible solutions that could potentially fail is way more admirable than ignoring the communities that keep you alive.
You called out all the current game issues. Personally my only addition/change to what you suggested is killers should have the option to snuff or break the boon totem no matter where they spawn.
Man, I'm so glad you went into details and gave such great reasoning on why CoH particularly is so problematic. I love running the perk with Shadowstep to put it in risky spots that make it an actual interesting mechanic- I hate when the Boons just get put in the middle of no where deadzones that the Killer has no reason to go to. It really takes away what I think makes the perks so fun an interesting.
I also appreciate that you brought up totem spawns being an issue. I've always believed them to be an issue even before Boons, and I really do think that bringing them into the mix just exaggerated the problem. (Because some totem spawns are just insane- like the box in Lery's or the third floor in Midwich, or even the Swamp with totems spawning in the edge of the map. But then you have the other half of totem spawns on Swamp where they're in the same three rocks.)
Really well done video though, I think you did a great job clearly showing your points and giving them good evidence, while also giving tips to improve the system.
I literally tried to report a hacker yesterday. I had to go through a whole chat interaction with an AI powered chat bot, just to end up giving the bot the some contact information I would've filed in the report ticket anyways, essentially wasting 15 minutes of my lifetime
OMG OMG Thats my Blight
This was fantasticly done I can't express how well this was edited, and written. Great work Hens big respect, much love! -Ronan
Fantastic video and excellent points. It's refreshing to see potential solutions being discussed instead of just complaints about what's wrong.
My own two cents about CoH would be to have it only work if one survivor is healing another survivor (with the exception of survivors also running self care). I think part of the issue is that the boon makes survivors too independent. They can just run to it and heal themselves while their teammates are pumping out gens. If it takes two survivors to heal with CoH, I think that might balance it out a bit more.
Bob on Hens! I wish BHVR would listen to people who stream their game, it would be such a healthier state.
