About Dead by Daylight:
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where one player takes on the role of a brutal Killer and the other four play as Survivors. As a Killer, your goal is to sacrifice as many Survivors as possible. As a Survivor, your goal is to escape and avoid being caught and killed.

I believe it's fair to DC if the killer is bleeding out 4 survivors at 5 gens
And spirit lol jk 🤣
Hopefully you and the people you shout out continue to grow. We need more people like you guys in this community.
DCs can be toxic, but sometimes it's understandable. Especially when they are basically dead on hook. Irri Head, Wraith, or Spirit I've noticed draw the most DCs, as well a few maps.
I think the issue is a dbd is highly unfun in many situations and I can't fault for people wanting to leave and save time instead of sitting there to get only 5k bloodpoints, it's not worth the time.
Instant Unnecessary DCs are toxic. I personally will take a facecamp so others get saves, and then I will get chased for another 2 minutes and die. With max boldness but not even 1k in anything else because I got tunneled. But I'm not going to be cuz silent bell wraith.
I don't promot DCs, but I can't fault them in certain situations. Hopefully that all made sense.
I have always thought DC penalties should be longer. In WoW, if you leave a dungeon you can’t queue again for 30 minutes. Longer penalties aren’t unheard of.
I personally have never DCed in any of my matches but I have been a victim of people just DCing in my matches. Some killers when it happens feel bad and I was able to continue and leave the match. I also recently had a problem with killers face camping and tunnelling and I will admit it pisses me off and I do depip from it. Instead of DCing I try to "stay alive" as much as I can on the hook so people can work on gens and get out, even when the killer continues to hit my person on the hook. After those matches sadly I dont play the game for a few hours to some days :/
If my team is doing nothing or if I’m getting tunneled/HOTH.
I think you forgot the channel links in the description, just a heads up!
here's a devils advocate counter argument, when you DC from a game, the game for the remaining 3 survivors actually gets easier. they no longer have to give their position away to the 90% of the killer community that face camps and proxy camps to unhook you.
i am never going to be guilted into staying in a game i am not having fun playing, you can say what you want but if i am not having fun then i am not staying, bloodpoints are not an incentive, let's say i am playing survivor and i get downed in ten seconds and then camped for two minutes on hook, gee that 1-3K blood points was sure worth it, i'm sure that grey addon will be so worth it, or as Killer staying in a game where they get my Hex and i only get one hook by the time they are down to one gen?, why keep playing at that rate i should just quite out the SWF scum are just going to mock and the TTVs will have their audience sucking them off as they pretend to be oh so wholesome people lying though their teeth saying "get gud" under a fake "gg"
Not all of us are on as high a horse as you Gimms. Nobody gets on DBD and goes "man, time to improve somebody elses experience" that's not how escapism/ entertainment works. The games a shitty, toxic mess, and it can be said the devs are to blame for creating the means to enable disgusting player behavior.
Had 4 killers dc in a row while trying to use up cakes before prestiging someone….fun times
DC; because you are not good at the game or not having fun; is no excuse to give up and ruin the fun for everyone! It should be reported as Bad sportsmanship; which I do every time I see a rage quiting Survivor!
I never blame killers as much, because of how this Survivor have most of the control; unless they are toxic face camping and leave the game when they have no Noed, or 0k!
As for Survivor, it not very cool and seems more self entitled then you are reasonable not having fun with the game and quit because it easy! This game is frustrating and they need to voice their concerns with the devs, instead of DC and turn a blind eye on the problems of the game!
Huntress brings Iridescent Shard; you cannot stand that she had only one hatchet and she can hit you at any range! How about learn to out play it; and then complain to devs about it being bit broken; instead of quiting the game, and ruining the game for both sides!
Two things that make me DC is:
1- being instant tunnelled or camped on the first damn hook right at the start and I mean like there's 5 gens still to go and the killer has no reason at all to do it
2- as a killer being mismatched and trolled by the group of SWF clickers instead of doing their objective and they're just there to troll and be attached to your hip the whole game or leaving 1 poor soul to do them all while they run around like idiots being annoying
Survivor based is going to be more toxic because they out number the killer 4:1.
When there’s like 100k Killers but 800k survivors, it’s going to be survivors that’s more toxic.
I hold the world record on speedrun with spirit.
where a 4 man swf dc the first 10-15 seconds when thay saw i played spirit.
I will never forget that moment and they had a play time combined of 25,000 and not only did they dc they used the 4 v 1 being salty against me to block me after.
I had a game the other day as killer, the survivors brought a offering to make hatch spawn at shack then three of them DC so the last guy could get hatch. Then they proceeded to message me to brag about how they made me depip. I play on PS4 and I don't really care about the pups I cared more about my wasted cake which I think they were still proud of.
I play on ps4 I dc when frames drop I'll use lithe frames drop and the I'm running right back towards the killer
I can count the amount of times I've DCed on one hand. They've all happened since the RE chapter came out. The game is a laggy pos on console.
Kind of confusing when you say you don't DC because you don't want to ruin other people's experiences but wouldn't you say tunneling, camping, and doing other things will make them feel the same way? We all know tunneling and camping is going to happen when necessary but if you truly care about their experience you would prevent yourself from doing a shit load of things that makes survivors upset. Ofc not everybody gets upset by those things but we don't play to please others, it's your game, you have your own goals and incentives for why you play. I try not to DC myself but if it's a miserable match I'd rather move on to the next one than stick around to improve my skill as that's less important to me
I'm with ya on DC'ing being the most toxic for survivors no doubt. You just completely ruin the match for your other team mates and most likely lose them the game. Also i think you mightve forgot to put the links to Dyli's and Glorygeist's channel in descriptio, i don't see them.
I can not tell you how many times a survivor will DC in the early game and the game gets down to one gen left meaning if the survivor didn’t DC there’s a high chance the gens would have gotten done
I'm gonna be honest here,
Comparing a bad video game to things like work and car is just bad.
Jaee and true absolute legends
Personally I never dc as a survivor but I do sometimes disconnect as killer if the survivors are t bagging, gen rushing, and ganging up on me. When it gets to that point they’re just being assholes and I just leave. I’m not saying that I’m leaving if they are good but only if they are toxic.
I think the only reason to DC is if you're stuck in place and cannot move, like being clipped to a bush and if you gotta leave your gaming station for any reason. That's all. If you DC you're a twat.
I don't play DBD, so take this with a shaker of salt, but the only reason I see as legitimate for DCing is if you run into a gamebreaking bug, like if you somehow fall through the map and get stuck in a void. Well, it's also alright if you access the internet through a potato that sometimes DCs for you, but that ought to go without saying. Anything else I can think of, though? Finish that match and then play something else ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Martyr feature would be cool (assuming it can't be exploited by giving up on the hook if you're the first person hooked). That's exactly what I thought of for why a player should stay until death if they're camped on hook.
I feel like the easiest thing they could do to counteract DC'ing is a button check. Sometimes people's internet dip or the game crashes which could trigger a penalty if ones in place. The solution I thought of: If the player purposefully hit the button to leave the match, the game secretly counts it. Which will then trigger the time out immediately. However if they disconnect due to connection issues, the game will have a count. After 2 times of that happening, then the game times you out.
The reason, in my opinion, that DC's aren't considered to be toxic to alot of people is that if the killer DC's then in theory the survivors win and just lose their add-ons and offerings. Neither of which are hard to come by. If a survivor DC's the killer has an easier game and basically gets a free W. The other survivors will definitely see it as toxic but the predominant "Us vs Them" mentality in the dbd community means that in a survivor dc case I most of the time get bitched at because I didn't give up and farm. It's like they expect me as a killer to just let them leave and tank a loss because one rando left the game like a prick.
It gotten to the point where if a survivor dcs in the first few minutes of the match I will farm with the other survivors and let them escape because I just feel bad for them and what’s even worse is I’m even playing Demogorgon
You know what I do if I’m having a bad game or not feeling it? I finish the game and play something else. If your excuse is you dc to not waste time you’ll be wasting more time with queuing because you can’t find a “easy” game.
I mean it’s a video game. I don’t care about the bloodpoints and I mean call me self centred but if I’m not enjoying my match because I am literally playing dbd to have fun then I’m just not gonna play it out. Like why? I don’t feel like enduring a match where a killer camps and tunnels me simply because I outplayed them. Or maybe I’m not in the sweat mood to play against a 4 man swf. As far as the scott and coconut thing. Survivors are definitely more toxic but killers can 100% be the more toxic role if they chose to be. It’s just there aren’t as many toxic killers as there are survivors. So the most toxic role is survivor but killer has the most potential to be toxic. Killers can literally prevent a single person from playing the game. Survivors tbagging or clicking their flashlights doesn’t stop the killer from playing.
I once tried arguing for more than an hour why it's not okay to DC when you simply aren't having fun, and it was actually in your discord in dbd discussion. I was as respectful and argumentative as possible and finally I just gave up, the other guy wasn't being a twat or anything, they just refused to accept that the very functionality of soloq depends on seeing a game through even if you're not really trying. They were under the impression that what they do doesn't really matter because it's a game and he's just one person and it's all meant to be for fun anyway.
In actuality, it builds up and at the end of the day you sometimes just want to sit down and have a fun experience in a game and forget about everything else. And then, sometimes, match after match, it's all a chain of disappointments and frustrations, which add to your already frustrated headspace. This has happened to me once, I was so strung out from having had a bad time in every part of my life for a long while, then it turned out I couldn't even catch a break in a stupid game and I started crying. It's not about how likely this is to happen, it's about defining the bare minimum so you decrease the chance of this happening even more. You don't have to throw yourself at the killer every time someone is being chased, you just have to commit to the basic expectations of the game. If you're gonna turn it off and go do something else every time you stop having fun, matchmaking games aren't for you. There's a ton of single player survival games out there. If you have this mentality, please choose one of them, you'll most likely even be having more fun.
Totally agree Killer or Survivor should never DC. If that's what you do because the game isn't going your way then you just shouldn't play it.
I have never DC'd win or loose i just take it i don't want to let anybody down
Ive never DC'd straight off the bat whether it be because of a certain map or killer, but I have done it a few times after getting "tilted" or stressed playing solo que, but now whenever I think about DCing during a game my greedy brain always reminds me "what about the bloodpoints?!"
Personally I only DC if a player is doing something extreme to go out of their way to ruin the game for me. If I'm camped or tunneled I'll stick around, if only so the other Survivors can do gens and leave while the Killer is distracted. Similarly if the Survivors are all teabagging and flashlight clicking me then I'll tough it out and try to 4k them regardless.
But if a Killer downs me and slugs me while standing above my body teabagging (Ghostface / Pig) or swinging their weapon in the air I'm going to DC. I'm not waiting for 2 minutes for my bleedout timer because of your ego. Similarly if I play against a 4-man Sabo Squad running No Mither + Unbreakable + Cheryl's one perk + Purple sabotage toolboxes I'm not going to waste my time getting bullied for who knows how long. These people only have one goal and it is to ruin your game, and I'm not giving them the satisfaction of wasting my time. At least camping and tunneling are strategies (even if they're unfun) and a Survivor teabagging or clicking their flashlight is their way of trying to make you chase them so their allies can do gens. Someone actively throwing the game just to ruin my experience isn't worth wasting my time, imo.
When I’m killer on Haddonfield I DC
I only ever dc when I have to do something irl
I very rarely dc but when i do its mostly because there is somewhere else i need to be because i didnt realize there was something else i have to do like eat or my family forced me off the game.
I mean the only time I'd consider dc like being slugged till I die, also I've seen killers trap survivors In corners and dosnt move
I have never dc'd for pretty much the reasons you've said.
And I get the not being fun aspect cause if you are tunnelled and camped within the first minutes of the game. Yes it completely sucks. However, I'd rather give my teammates a chance to do gens etc and let them know whats happening (if in swfs) and even in solo I'd prefer to give them time etc.
And when I've played killer and had awful matches I just let the last gen pop, open the door and let them leave if I've truly had enough. I don't care about pipping etc so I'm just like OK you may leave now. And I'll just go off find a corner and stand there till they leave. It's just one match I'll try different approach to the next game.
This obviously when I was able to play this game.
I used to DC 3 years ago but now I feel the same way as gimms
I dc’d last night cus the game was broke. FPS drops made it unplayable and I just turned the whole game off and played something else. I’ll try again after the 27th when they are suppose to fix it.
I agree just insta dcing is very toxic, i personally try not to dc. That being said i have done it before. If i go down and get put on the hook to see my entire team immersed i cant lie ive pulled that cord before and might do again. However i also dont intant dc when im like in the higher ranks and im trying to get back down to like purple i stay until we win or i am dead then dc its just the courteous thing to do imo.
8:31 yeah I get bloodpoints but fun is more important to me than just points. I only disconnect when I go against the same killers all the time.
Your point about wasting other people’s time when you D/C and force them to have a shitty match works both ways though. Is your own time not valuable? You work as well right? Why subject your time to a match that’s clearly fucked when you can just leave and find a new match and actually play it? I mean sure, you could just suicide on hook which I guess is effectively the same thing. Anyway, just pointing that counter argument out.
Edit: Also, I’m not a very inward person and I’m always willing to help others but if I’m just playing a match of a video game, DbD I’m this case, I’m not gonna subject myself to being camped or tunneled first thing in a match and waste my time. Now if it’s further on in the match, I’ll just wait out the kill for the BP but if it’s first thing and the killer is gonna be an ass like that, I’ll D/C because why entertain that and waste my time. But like I said, if the match is playing out and the killer is actually good and playing the game more “legitimately” and I get owned, it’s on me and I’ll take the L.
DCing is for the simple minded.
DCing is by far way more toxic than camping or sandbagging.
I never DC. If you get me hooked and facecamp me I will milk every second out of it so my team can slam gens.
I only dc if I am tunnelled off the hook and the killer purposely goes for me ignoring the person who unhooked me, and then i do them, and they still continue to tunnell me, that’s not fun, and I will de pip either way.
