I think a post game summary with each survivor being awarded a medal for longest chase time, most gens done, highest altruism etc would be cool and the killer could show number of hooks, injures and downs to kinda give an overview of how the game went
I honestly feel like it shouldn't reward us with anything other than a message saying that you were given props. If there is a reward, people will simply do it for the reward rather than actually giving/receiving props in a genuine way.
Public prop scores would be awesome, so when you see someone got -106 props you know to dodge that lobby fast, and you get a nice +52 to show off when you play nice. As toxic survivors might always downvote when the die it could be worth like half points when you die so over time it will still have an effect but the 4stack won’t loose you a bunch of points because they lost with full sabo builds.
I find it funny how you suggested that we use this hypothetical props system as a way to measure player skill level because BHVR are too fucking stubborn to show us our MMR.
Any system sadly wouldnt really work to well. The survivor side is always "HE CAMPED HE TUNNELED HE PLAYED UNFAIR!" no matter what you do to them if your winning and the killer side is always "THEY RAN EVERY META PERK AND DID 3 GENS AT ONCE!" no matter what happens, even if they dominated early game and they got that triple pop to late to really do anything. I always give props to killers or survivors who actually impress me and do wish the system did ANYTHING, but…its hard to when your community is in an endless cycle of pure hate for the other side's mere existence it feels like
I wouldn't want the amount of props given shown in lobby because history has shown people will use it as an excuse to dodge lobbies or single out "specific" players they don't agree with. Also I'd find it safer to just remove the text field entirely and just make it a button prompt.
The only thing you need to figure out is a way to incentivize giving props to where it benefits both players and I feel limiting it based on teams isn't the way to go. I feel like you should just be only able to give props to 1-2 people per game.
The only way I'd go about it is any "rewards" you receive from a good rating are only given out during rank reset so you don't get immediate feedback to avoid stuff like exchanging ratings. Outside of enabling the ability to rate fellow survivors I'd only restrict it so you cannot rate SWF or friends specifically on your team. The only reward I'd potentially give is matchmaking priority + a small portion of bloodpoints – maybe 500 per props. Although realistically I feel there needs to be a reason to incentivize giving props because no one is going to give props to killers that play well. Most of the time people are butthurt that a killer plays well. You have a better chance at a player spite reporting with some dumbass excuse than giving props and accepting that they lost fair and square.
Ultimately I feel the biggest issue with making such a system is this is an asymmetrical game. It would probably be less of a headache to finally just remove it as a failed feature at this point. That or merge it with another system because on its own I feel it would be too much work to have a simple solution. The only system that comes to mind is dota2 where monthly you get a behavior summary report showing commends, reports and abandons. I feel that's the only way I could see any rating being created is collectively you get a behavior report based on those three traits. All that does is affect who you get matched with based on their behavior.
Since i started playing this game i quickly vocalized how i wished the postgame rating system would actually work so bad/rude players would get downvoted and go to their own bracket to play with equally shitty players and nice/fair players could play with each other. Though i do think that survivors should be able to vote on each other, maybe to less of a BP reward. More of a "hey this guy is a super good team-mate!" accolades to "this person will hide in a closet and let you go to second hook" demerits.
you want the overwatch endorsemnt system on dbd i can tell u people dont do anything with it the props would be givens to god players or saints killers would never get props unless farming and people wound not care they would spam endorsement for the bp
this doesnt fix anything its just adding more bs which they do enough of already. I have over 5k hours in counter strike and cant even fathom how many times I played out of my mind and was super nice to my team and didnt get commended for it. People commend you more simply for asking so it has nothing to do with skill or being a good sport any of that crap and frankly if you care about other peoples opinions or how many votes u get then youre just insecure anyways. Its not going to do anything people should play how they want to play fuck what the props say. some people wanna face camp tunnel u think theyre gonna get props? thats how they wanna play the game so it shouldnt matter.
they won't give BP because it would fuck up the economy, esp given the recent changes to it; they should give out a separate currency and either add some cosmetic rewards/ prestige rewards like different portraits, charms (cool ones, with effects etc) or allow that currency to be used to purchase existing skins/ survivors/ killers/ etc…this system would be something like the rep system in ffxiv
I like how GTA V incorporates a 'Give Props' system. Rather than an individual reward for every single time you receive props, the commendations culminate and grant permanent discounts on products in some of the shops. So in DBD's case, it could go something like this: rather than granting you a reward for each individual prop given or giving you permanent bonuses like in GTA, it would be tied to the rank reset month. The first three times you receive props in that month, you're given 5000 BPS each time, totaling 15K. From then on, you receive bonuses based on every 10 props received. So 10 would grant you 10000 BPs, 20 gets you 20000, all the way to 50 props and 50000 BPs. If you gain more than 50 props, maybe they can sprinkle in some Iridescent Shards too. When the rank resets on the 13th of the month, the streak begins anew but your total props for the previous month get added to a grand total, and you get a medal or badge like you suggested to show off to show you're a good sport. To incentivise players into giving props, you'd receive 500 BPs for commending fellow survivors, 750 if you're the killer commending survivors, and 1500 if you give props to the killer.
streamers/youtubers would get props way more after every match even if tunneling, camping, tbagging… and they would show up as the best players.
giving bloobpoints also bad idea, people would simply give props every match for them, doesnt matter if is only 1500.
the mmr number already shows who is a good player, bh just doesnt want to show it (i personally think that is because streamers are actually paired with lower mmr players than then so that they can stomp)
that being said, i would love a "karma" system, but i would go completly on the other way that you said, i would make it only on the survivor side and i would make it between survivors. if the other team has to rate you… killers are not going to get good scores. i would just let them out of the ecuation.
but i would love if i could put a score on other players after a match. if someone that is at the gate leaves it to go rescue me or another guy, and they both come back, that guy would for sure get a good score on my part. on the other hand, if someone dcs after being hooked first because their deliverance now doesnt work, you better believe that guy is getting a bad score… i think that those scores would actually matter more since you depend on those guys for your game in solo queue
I wish they reinvented BBQ somehow. This perk was very healthy for the game. Cut Killer points in half, for every unique survivor they hook they get +25% bloodpoints. If you only have 3 hooks on one person you did really poorly and your points show it. If you do 12 hooks you get +200%
I like the idea of those lil messages you can type coming with the notification that you got an endorsement. Would be huge hopium for me to keep playing and they could have an option to turn the messages off if someone is worried about receiving hate through the system

to the death

I 100% agree with this, kinda like the league honor system. That actually unironically helped that game be a little less toxic.
In other games, you have a limited number of commendations you can give every day; that is the solution to prevent it from being abused for farming.

they should just copy the Dota 2 commend system.

Make the props feature buff self-care the more props you have
Any form of blood points would make me just use it blindly for money
I actually love the "Give Props" system but I want it to have some reason behind it.
I think perhaps limiting props given per day could be a good idea.
I also 100% agree that we should reward playing nice while not punishing playing sweaty. Well said.
Great idea

No
I give props every time I see a solo q team mate/killer do an amazingly good play or was just flat out a team player who also played really good
Sounds like it'd be cool and might actually help curb some of the toxicity in the community. Which means it will never happen lol
Great idea honestly

Give people trustpilot ratings in-game? lmao yes.
I mean bug fixing is taxing enough, buvr literally dying on those, extra systems will crash base game.
So what im hearing is…. you all want more feng min cosmetics

What if:
You can vote for other team
Thumb up or down (or not at all)
—> example for every thumbs up the killer gets they got 500-750 BP.
At other hand if killer thumbs up only one player they get the full 2000-3000 BP or split down between all that gets thumb up. If that makes sense.
So the 3 options is:
No vote
Thumbs down
Thumbs up (BP bonus)
Then you get a statistic next to your name that resets with rank reset.
———
This way it incentives good behavior.
(Could also have the graphic saying)
X% up X% down (total votes this month)
Can only be seen after game so ppl don’t start jumping lobbies.
Scott, how many shirts do you have and why is in the single digits?
