Matchmaking Is A Mystery In Dead By Daylight

Skill Based Matchmaking aka SBMM assigns you an MMR which decides which players you go against but it doesn’t always work as intended. Especially in solo queue. The patch changes have made this more obvious and since killers now have 60% kill rate by design, the matchmaker may not longer be working as intended

  1. The MMR system is meant to keep you playing like an addict.

When it thinks you had a couple of tough matches, it puts you up against a dogshit person for an easy win.

Then proceeds to kick your teeth in another 3-4 times

  2. From personal experience, the MMR system fluctuates a lot.

If I lose a game with 0-1 kills, the very next game I'll go against survivors wayy under my skill level. I will dominate the match (to the point of feeling bad) and end up with a 4k. The very next game, I'll go against survivors wayy above my skill level and will get my ass kicked. And from this point, the cycle repeats.

  3. On one hand, i often face survivors around my skill level depending on the time of day i play. On the other hand i abuse this system by intentionally "losing"/drawing frequently.

Killers' win condition should be changed to hook stages instead of kills.

  4. The thing is… winning and losing isn't all based on skill. This depends on the map and some luck. Also you can get killed even though you were completely screwed no matter what because of teammates and stuff.

Also the draw makes no sense at all. 2 kills and 2 escaped is very rare as when 1 survivor dies, the survivor team gets a huge disadvantage. 2 gens and 3 survivors against a good killer will already be hard to escape.

  5. MMR isnt a mystery, it was datamined by the community and the formulas for matchmaking was actually on the DBD Wiki for a really long time, but because people were not happy with how it was calculated, they kept harassing the DBD Wiki moderators to make sure it was "accurate" (it was accurate btw) and they ended up removing it from the DBD Wiki due to said harassment.

  6. Ntm I've died on first hook a few times do to teammates. At times I have looped the killer long enough that 2 or 3 gens get done at the start but then no one gets me off the hook and I die. Or I'll have teammates that go down in seconds so I'll take chase because I last longer on the chase but again no one comes and gets me. I try to play altruistic as possible but I'm starting to wanna play more selfishly like those people who self care in corners instead of getting a free unhook while the killer is in chase across the map. Most of the time I die it's cause the killer slugged for a 4k and the person didn't recover while I was looping so I couldn't get them back up or it's because I was altruistic when my solo q team wasnt.

  7. The MMR system is garbage. I almost never escape (maybe like 4/20 matches), but I keep getting put up against p100 killers that stomp my team. Even solo queue I'm constantly in a battle between killers that are way more skilled than me and fellow survivors who keep killing themselves on first hook.
