I mained her since released and always played her the most unoptimal way which was chasing survivors. I made it work though, when I saw that they were making a rework I was so excited that BHVR was going to make her more chase oriented. With the first changes they made I was a bit underwhelmed and hearing all these big creators saying she's basically dead on the PTB. Then BHVR made some last day changes a week before release of the rework and yet the same creators were saying she's is dead, no reason to play her. I was one of the ones who played her who were saying no matter what I'm going to make this new Skully work. OMG it is so nice to prove everyone wrong when you constantly get 3k/4k each game with her. The rework makes me being a Chase Merchant main since the beginning feel so good. I play her almost as an ambush killer and it just works. Been getting clips together on scaring streamers with the new Skully and the progress I have been making is good. The on demand undetectable with Dark Devotion is such a fun combo. Yet another BHVR W on killer reworks. Cannot wait to see what they have in store for Twins! My stealth build is Dark Devotion, Monitor and Abuse, No Where To Hide and for the 4th, Third Seal or Lethal. I also put on the addons that give an extra 2 seconds of undetectable and the one that decreases eye in the sky cooldown. Makes it to where she can indefinitely be undetecable.

Gotta say I still don’t enjoy her
No, people on Reddit aren't complaining Skull Merchant is dead because she's bad. They're complaining she's dead because what was originally a solid tracking based power was utterly mashed down into Discount Clown. What EXACTLY does this killer do that Clown doesn't? She places drones down to slow survivors at loops. You LITERALLY keep referencing how similar she is to Clown and recommending the exact same builds for her you have for him.
The Undetectable only makes a difference at jungle gyms, which is funny because given her anti loop is Discount Clown with no way of slowing people running AWAY, the OPTIMAL play is just to run AWAY from the jungle gym while Skully's trying to mindgame the tile. The only way running away doesn't work is setting up a drone AHEAD of time but survivors can disable them scott free! The only reason people are rolling with her is she has enough bells and whistles that survivors don't yet realize how LAUGHABLY reduced she is to a Discount Clown. Now that said, being a discount of Clown will still achieve mileage; Arinad has shown how Clown can still wipe the board, but the fact remains that once people actually figure out what's going on she'll be mechanically nothing more than Discount Clown. No distinct or unique identity. Nothing mechanically differentiating about her!
OG Merchant wasn't perfect. BUT Chase Merchant differentiated herself from Clown because she ALSO had great tracking. Clown needs some form of tracking or gen defense to be consistent, but old Chase Merchant could simply rely on her kit to do that, freeing you up to run 4 chase perks, which ALSO synergized well with Geographic Readout's animation boost. No other killer got use out of Brutal Strength or even FIRE UP like she did. They still KEPT Geographic Readout, but without her default tracking capabilities there's no POINT! The point was HER POWER took care of the tracking and you took care of the chase. Now you need to run some gen defense and tracking. You can't stack 4 chasing perks on her and expect them to work well because then you have no tracking or defense! This rework has completely compromised her identity, even from a meta perspective. Because the throughline for this chapter, the fear being played off of here, was the fear of constant surveillance. It's topical for our world where we have to get VPNs to protect our identity. Much like how the Singularity plays off fears of AI, the Skull Merchant played off a fear of our age. But NOW she has the tracking capabilities of a noseblind pug! Oops! Looks like now you completely botched the theme of the chapter because you couldn't be bothered to make a coherent rework keeping the core of the character intact.
You remember Legion? When they cane out, their gameplay loop was exploited in a similar way as Chess Merchant to create an uninteractove playstyle. Despite this, some members of the community fell in love with the intended playstyle, lovingly referred to as 'run and stab'. Only THERE the devs reworked the problematic aspects with care to KEEP the original intent of the killer and even actually IMPROVE it. No such care was taken here. They just went back to what they know: in this case Clown. What a damning indication of their current creative bankruptcy. Wesker and Xeno came out as (increasingly closer) ripoffs of Demo relying on IP recognition to smooth over the lack of mechanical creativity and everyone loved it. Meanwhile Knight, Skully, and Larry at least tried to do something new with the killer gameplay loop and were received with cold to lukewarm reception. I just KNOW they aren't going to think "we need to slow down our hectic release schedule to refine our creative concepts so they play well" but rather "our hectic release schedule doesn't permit creative killer concepts to be made, shove out a regurgitated concept for this killer or that rework and hope no one notices".

I think Skull Merchant is in a situation where she's decent but she's also a little bit weak imo, for me she's probably around Hillbilly level which is low B, High C tier imo, she's kind of like Knight but more steps, Knight for me is a High B tier killer and he can just place down a guard or draw a trail like no problem, but skull Merchant she places her drones and it has to Build up and that gives them time to leave the loop and go to another loop so I think Skully has potential to be a decent killer, once again around low B, High C tier, maybe she could have potential to be Middle B tier at her highest and I wouldn't say she would be any higher than low B or Mid B

I played several matches as Merchant after three patches, and my goodness, she is fluent to play. What some people don't realize is if you catch a survivor in a dead zone and you're directly behind them, you can set a drone and proc a lock-on stack.
So if you pay your cards right, you can proc it 3 times and down them. I did this to save STBFL stacks against my obsession, and dude, it is amazingly fluent. I can finally play Merchant without my daily telling me to.
Not long after her rework and rerelease, I went against a Skull Merchant who still tried to Gen Merchant. She got absolutely smoked, her drones got dismantled, she tried to patrol. And she was a good Skull Merchant player, but at the end of the match she didnt get any kills. Like idk if they were memeing or trying to prove that Gen Merchant was viable, but whatever it was she got nothing from that match.
I love playing the new Skull Merchant, was one of my favorite killers but now I'm considering maining her. One problem though, apparently no one else is. I spent hours trying to get a game against her because I want to see how you can counter her anti-loop and I still haven't gotten a match. Its honestly really annoying, and it's getting to the point where I'm seeing Pig more than her. I wouldn't be surprised if I went back on right now and got twenty games in a row playing against Twins.
Her rework has made me main her. She's great.
Shes good as the killer but playing against her is like knight and old legion, she drops a drone n bloodlusts n there is nothing a survivor can do to stop it, the 10% hinder will destroy you not fun to play against but I guess that makes her a good killer cz she cnt b countered in chase if merchant decides to do this
9:31. I love you kaiser, but I think you are underestimating the power of doing STBFL and rapid brutality. Take good 'ol deathslinger. You can shoot your redeemer and after dragging them in…. they have no way to escape the second hit. Usually you would want to save the redeemer for the second hit, but with this build you can do either and not lose much. This is amazing because now you can prevent deadhards from being a problem for your second hit (I know they are rarer now, but it's still useful) and more importantly you don't have to chase them for that first hit. Chases become infinitely faster now that you can reel them in without a chase to get that first hit and then just quickly run them down like a dog for the second. That's not even cosnidering adding hex:blood favor so the nearest pallets are no longer usable.

I played her on launch and hated her on both sides. Now she's reworked, and while she's "meh" still…I think she's great honestly. She's great. She's fun to play.

I havnt played killer in about a month due to finding it stressful, but I immediately tried Skull Merchant after watching your video and you are right, her ability to go undetectable at any moment is great and gives you so many free hits. I ran her hinder add ons alongside Game Afoot, Furtive Chase, Machine Learning and Bamboozle and got a 4k and a 3k giving hatch. One thing i'll say from a survivor side is getting damaged from a claw trap feels a little cheap, but from the killer side Skull Merchant feels fun and good to play 👍
Well damn, if they could give her a cosmetic that I actually like I might just buy her. Weapons are fire but I cannot play a killer I don't like the design of.
the drones arent bad. I get a headsup on what survivors are doing and where they are regulary. You can force them out of strong positions because if they stay they get wounded and or hinder´d. The stealth is great but people are sleeping on the drones themselves in my opinion.
