Spirit Boot Camp? | Dead by Daylight

Trying out something new that I think might be a neat series to start. I’m not a very experienced spirit player. She’s probably my weakest killer in the whole roster in terms of how familiar I am with them. If you guys are interested in this, I think it’d be neat to grind spirit in video form so you guy scan hear my thought processes and possibly see where I struggle and watch me improve. I do this sometimes with other killers and call it “boot camp” cause I’m a dumb nerd. Lemme know your thoughts!

  1. Spirit Main here! My biggest tip for you (besides cranking up the volume more than your average killer) would be Player Identification. Knowing your enemy as Spirit is SO important. e.g. If it's a Hold W Gamer = Keep Phasing (& look out for upcoming vaults/pallets). If it's a mindgaming start-to-walk & 180-soon-as-they-see-you-phase Gamer = Release Phase Early. Other than that? Use the yellow duration/speed + White Ribbon Addon (they're great little boosts to your power without changing her fundamentally).

Fun Video! Looking forward to more like this in the future! GL & Power To You, Tofu!

  2. I absolutely love Spirit. To play with and against. I have always loved her power and her aesthetic in general. I can't wait to see this series unfold I think it will be very interesting.

  3. some advice! when you’re passing out of chase just for distance, don’t use your full power gauge- use like half of it at max and save it for chase

  4. This is probably horrible advice for high mmr but what I do when I'm learning a killer is run no perks or add-ons until I can get a 4k, even if it's once, just to say I can play them well without help

  5. Hey tofu! Glad to see you're learning my main killer. A couple tips for playing spirit: You can fake using her power as a mindgame against survivors ; When chasing healthier survivors, I suggest just using Stridor to hear their breathing better or travel much slower in your phase so that you can be more cautious. Also, I don't think it is necessary to have two addons that do almost the same thing, you can switch one of them out for Furin for better mindgames or another addon you think is fit. Other than that, I think you just gotta practice with her and you'll get the hang of it!

  6. To get better with the phase u could use predator for closer scratch marks, bloodhound for brighter blood, and strider for louder sound ps, I am worse at spirit than u r but this is what is am using to get better at phasing, just focus on learning don't care about whether or not u lose, just focus on practice

  7. I don't know if sound in Spirit is somehow worse or if I just get completely in my own head about it, but I have the exact same problem with not being able to pinpoint survivors. On Nurse I can blink right on top of somebody's face based entirely on sound (for example into temple basement area) but can't tell where the fuck they are during a Spirit phase.

  8. Can definitely relate on not knowing when to try harder or not. I like to play chill, fun, & fair, but if the survs are playing really good and to win, i wanna respect the skill and try to give them something back. But yea its hard to determine that sometimes.

I'm also far from a spirit main, but some advice i've heard from spirit players is:
    1. Dont over use your power for travel. Play it like nurse, use half of your power for travel so you have it ready for chase
    2. Now that survs can roughly hear where spirit is, fake going one way & turn around to go the other way. Mind game the audio cues
    3. The perk Predator helps a lot but you dont wanna become reliant on it (As you said about the addons earlier in the vid )
    4. With your addon build, play like you have End/SF, encourage the pallet drops. Its easier to down survs around a downed pallet, especially with your recharge addons & survs like to silent vault a lot (As you saw in the Ormond match)

  9. spirit can’t read auras while phasing, so I find aura readings perks (i.e. nurse’s) to be counterproductive and there are better options available. your second build was solid

  10. Hey there Mr Tofu. Honestly. Please keep doing this.
I recently found your channel after getting back into DBD on ps5 and one of your videos stood out to me a lot. It was one that you were playing Pyramid Head and playing a Pallet loop with a survivor. You put your sword down when you approached the Pallet every time so the surv had to decide to drop it and take the hit or chance taking the hit and possible down. I translated that to Nemesis and it DRASTICALLY improved my game play (i went from Silver 4 to Gold 4). So please do more killers for other scrubs like me 🙂

tl;dr Tofu you are amazing Please keep up your amaz-balls-ness

  11. This would help a lot for me, personally. I have 3,000+ hours in the game but the vast majority are survivor because I get frustrated with myself for performing poorly on killer. Seeing your thought process on learning a killer you find difficult might help me figure out ways to do it for myself. Keep up the good work!

  12. Some tips I have are don’t use all of your power use like half especially when traveling across the map, bc you might need it to down someone but now it has a long cool down so you just a basic slow M1 Andy. Another big tip I could give is turn up that volume so it’s easier to hear. You already pay attention to grass and stuff but maps like the artists are probably much more difficult without grass but those would probably help you improve the fastest since you’ll have to rely so much on listening to the survivors breathing and footsteps and lack of footsteps and using her power at loops.

  13. Do NOT run aura reading perks like Nurses' while playing spirit, you do not get the aura reading aspect while phasing. Also for a 110 killer active slowdown like pop/call are less valuable because, you know, speed. Spirit needs a lot of efficiency because she can win her chases but is bad at applying map pressure.

If you MUST run a tracking perk, run floods of rage or whispers. Also pain resonance is great for obvious reasons.

  14. The problem of not knowing how hard to play each game is a HUGE issue I'm running into lately too. Can't count how many games I've played where they hit me with some techs really early so I'm like alright, let's play hard. Then they fall apart, no more gens pop. On the flip side I'll have a game where I'm 4 hooks in before the first gen pops so I settle down and take my foot off the gas then 4 gens pop and there are 3 people on the last one with prove thyself. My current solution, unfortunately, is just to play normally for the win until I have one person out of the game. If we're down to 3 survivors and they have 2 gens done I settle down and make sure the last 3 survivors have the opportunity to get some solid BPs and some good chases. But in my experience if all 4 are up it really only takes 1 chase that's a bit too long to change a game from chill to powered gates.

  15. just wait until you get 4 iron wills, then the real suffering begins. on the real though, this seems like a good series and it's reassuring to know that someone with as many hours as you still have stuff to learn and improve on 🙂 keep up the good work

  16. I recommend that you try to avoid most Survivor aura-reading perks, BBQ would be fine though. Because, while phasing, Spirit cannot read Survivor auras whatsoever. However, you can still use perks like Surveillance because you still have access to Generator auras. And Stridor isn't nearly as good as it used to be, I'd stay away from it for now.

  17. Yeh dude, i play spirit a fair bit. The build that works for me is haunted grounds, undying, spirit fury and enduring. Add ons are bonsai and phase speed addons. Allows to be very aggressive and just hit gens when u can. But pressure surviver not gens

  18. i feel like having tight spaces and definite loops helps a lot with spirit. In these cases you know where a survivor will be looping at, which makes it much more predictable to be on them. I feel like the difference between the two maps was just that. There was a lot more open space around gens on the first map.
