DBD is struggling because of the toxic community add a offline mode I'm sure those problems would go away, look at Friday the 13th it's dead but people still play it and enjoy it because it has a offline mode.
to me, dbd was fine like nearly a year ago at this point, but the devs kept making changes which pushed me to the point of not even caring about the game anymore
If you care about something you'll show passion in different ways, one is exactly that toxicity. So when i end getting stressed out and harassed by survs as killer or visa versa, then head out of that match and don't even have the spirit to insult anyone it's that that whole passion amd fun to the game is gone due to the constant flow of negative changes, which in turn leads me and other people to hate on the devs
Fun fact : The ghostface rework was a nerf. From the one change that makes it so where it's easier to get him out of his shroud. This is a good for survivors but made him even weaker overall. Agree to disagree but your wrong
its all about the people. if a game has some exploitable bugs you dont have to abuse them. if a killer like bubba is "best" in camping u dont have to play like that. yes most of the bugs, balance issues, exploits and shit are the dev´s "fault" but who tells you you have to play like an asshole and ruin others experience?! no one does. they player makes these decissions but people will always blame everthing on others, thats how humans are. its never the killers fault if he chases 1 guy for 2 minutes and 3 gens are poppin. its never the clicky clicky tbagging 4man unbreakable ds´s fault if they get camped, tunneled and sluggef for 3 minutes. its pretty sad to see people being toxic to each other in a game they want to have "fun" themself. "if i dont loop for 10 minutes without getting hit, tbag and click on every pallet i dont have fun and after all that the killer is not allowed to camp, hit me on hook or anything like that". "i dont ahve fun if i dont 4k every match, facecamp and tunnel everyone to death and its not my fault if i chase 1 guy for 2 minutes and 3 gens are done. its my right to facecamp and tunnel the dirty "gen rushers" !". people have big ego issues and that will never change.
I put a couple hundreds hours into the game before September but then the game was ruined with MMR and then boons. It doesn't help that every Q&A the devs shit on any good legitimate constructive criticisms or fixes for the game. Someone suggested removing perk levels which would remove the grind by 66%. They also said that boons are completely balanced. What a lie, boons needs a token system or for killers to be able to break them; some kind of limit. I'll come back when they fix their damn game
See heres the cold hard truth that nobody ever acknowledges when the saying: it could be like no mans sky, is used. And ya know what that is.. Theres only ONE no mans sky, and you ain't it buttercup.
Heres an idea regarding your solution, they could just make it real. Ez add dollars, the communities ire would be focussed on the players and wed finnally be able to get the answer regarding quantity v quality xD.
It’s hard to blame a player for face camping with Leatherface when the devs are the one’s that allow it. It’s hard to blame a player for running the same meta build since 2017 when the devs keep introducing non-competitive perks or weakening over-tuned one’s. It’s hard to blame a player for bad server dsync. It’s hard to blame a player when the games bugs prevent you from picking up a survivor, or randomly giving you the effects of quick and quiet. It’s hard to blame a player for running to the 5th straight god pallet in a row when the map spawned with them.
It’s hard to blindly support a development team that demonstrates greater emphasis for cosmetics than game breaking bug fixes or glaring game imbalances.
Admittedly, there have been positive improvements to DBD. Unfortunately those improvements have taken literal years to implement. Haddonfield anyone?
Under what consideration should an attitude of good faith be considered warranted by the developers?
Behavior has rightfully earned their reputation. It will take more than 3 or 4 positive patches to gain trust and build faith in the development team.
>the game is played >people are toxic/ toxic people are drawn in >people who dont like toxicity leave >overall player base becomes toxic/thrives off it
Its why the more toxic the game is, the more it thrives currently. Hopefully it was go through a purge/cleansing that will leave the game with a better and bigger community
The problem is that the community already actively hates on eachother ON TOP of hating the devs.
Until the devs gives players the incentive to have fun and play nice instead of playing optimally or toxic, DBD is gonna crash and burn out of relevance.
The issue is theyre patching and improving an outdated game constantly because it makes money, we're just along for the behavior money ride and decent yet unreliable gaming, however long it lasts.
As a survivor a typical game is too long because of PUNISHINGLY unrewarding events and circumstances due to useless teammates, DC penalty, ping demons, forced farm games, other botched experiences, undermined and wasted grinds for items, antiquated collision, antiquated animations, constant bugs, pay to play or give up your life for miniscule advances in the inventory, no tutorial for newbies, and oh yeah HORRIBLE. TEAMMATES. The experience doesn't respect reward or value a gamers time.
Here's the worst for this multiplayer game: No leaderboards, public stats or worthy competitive achievements or representation of skills in game, no in game communication, and each match is a gamble of frustration and time wasted and the odds are not in your favor. The addiction and playtime consists of praying for JUST. ONE. decent match. Typical folks don't have swf discord, and if so that's not a consistent option.
Killers are fine, if there were competitive and casual modes and additional "limited perk" modes then the experience could diversify into choices and preferences resulting in longer gamer commitments, and they wouldn't bitch and cry all over the internet influencing changes on ONE GIGANTIC ONLY ONE JUST ONE NOT TWO JUST ONE gameplay experience option…because the game would offer robust options.
That loops right back into the beginning and where the game is. Once again, DBD is a behaviour money train with constant patches to maintain profitability- not fix the issues that cause people to quit the game. The tweaks are small calculated changes to appease the core base and highlight what they can do to keep current players excited….. For profitability…in their obviously cost conscious way.
So yea, the game is going to continue to decline and they'll make their money adding on to it until it dies. But until they modernize the game design to preserve the competitive interplay while addressing gamer committments, then My self and others will continue to uninstall weeks at a time, boot back up and get reminded why you can't stand to play another match after trying to get JUST. ONE DECENT. MATCH. I believe that ratio for good games is 3 out of 11
update this game session I spent all 700,000 blood points. ONE FLASHLIGHT! ALL THOSE GAMES and earnings for ONE FLASHLIGHT! That I will lose to a game with bad survivors guaranteed! absolutely disgusting pathetic grind.
5 gen, 12 hook, 4 survivor, 1 killer can get stale over the course of 6 years. People wanna see something new and that's why they're going to different games. Meta can change, perks can change, but if the core remains the same, no matter how unique or niche it is, it can get stale over the course of several years
TL;DR I think this community will always hate each other a little, because it's the only actual incentive to play the game. Due to lack of functionality, a legitimate sense of competitiveness, an obscene grind for completionists, and a practically non-existent execution barrier, the only thing left to have any sort of reassuring pride in is that you smote someone who wronged you. That requires feeling wronged, unfortunately.
I kinda get what you mean. It's almost like this community is so full of spite that it always has to go somewhere. If the devs aren't an easy target at the moment, the guy who just teabagged you because he dead harded to a pallet certainly is (fuck you Felix!). I remember way back when Not Queen said that she wanted us to see us as not "the killer community &/vs. the Survivor Community," but rather "the DbD community." Full stop. Regardless of which role we prefer to play. I feel like that's never going to happen though, because
1. BHVR doesn't seem to treat survivors and killers the same.
Nowadays it might be better when it comes to that, but watching Hex:Undying get changed in a month whereas Boon:Circle of Healing gets a nerf no one asks for practically out of pity, when the problems with their balance, if you ask most folks, are very similar… it doesn't make me feel the type of unity which she supposedly desires.
Remember when it took years to change moris, because "iT WaS a SiMPlE NuMBeRs CHaNGe," yet keys remained untouched for a significant time afterwards because that would be so much harder? Yet the "easy" one supposedly took years? And even pointing out this injustice would get you ridiculed, (because Scott Jund made a dumb video where he says the words "what about," which clearly shows it's "whataboutism," though if he actually understood that concept at all he would know that it would actually require a comparison between two unalike/unrelated things, not two things which serve practically the same function (finish role's objective quicker))? That wasn't fun. I'm still mad about it, so here I am retroactively ridiculing anyone who deigned say otherwise.
Oh and how literally no perks worked on release Legion? I honestly felt kind of despised based on that. Of course, we all know of the worst part about release Legion. The whole moonwalking exploit fiasco. I'm not denying that for a second.
And don't even get me started on the unforgivibality of Mettle of Man. BHVR, I doubt, has ever considered giving killers a perk where if they whiff near a survivor three times, they go down the next time the killer misses. To put it simply: if release Mettle of Man was a thing they did on purpose, that looks terrible on them, and if it was an accident, it would literally be even worse.
2. In order for this game to work, there needs to be an incentive for the killer to kill the survivors. Otherwise, you're not so much playing Dead by Daylight, as you are farming or boosting in Dead by Daylight (which are vastly different things, in case that's not immediately obvious). Since there's only one side in this game that can actually eliminate players from the match, it makes sense why killers would find a dehumanizing ideology appealing. Especially considering lorewise, most of the survivors are good people, and most of the killers are not.
3/2.5. It's really hard to care about your competitive capability in this game, because of that pendulum that swings between "how did that hit?" and "how did that miss?" While there are clearly some people still so caught up in their delusions of grandeur that they genuinely believe that their movement abilities which don't account for any resources nor gamesense, like 360s, fov techs, "wiggle techs," maybe even window techs, are what make them good Dead by Daylight players, I've always refused to be impressed by them due to the fact that not one of those things is something intentional that's actually supposed to exist within the game. Even now, I'm worried these people will advocate for themselves, but it's not going to change the fact that no matter who I see getting spun, and no matter who I see spinning other people, I don't see good or bad DbD players. I see a bad game. In other words, people emphasizing "jukes" fundamentally misunderstand this game. That's how I feel, at least.
Like, it's literally to the point where sometimes even when I move around just right and get the killer to whiff, I'm not even satisfied with myself because it's so apparent to me that you shouldn't be able to pretend you didn't actually just get stabbed by the sharp object which sliced directly through your body by pulling a sick dance move.
the way to fix dbd is to fix facecamping by making it to where if you within X amount of range of a hook the hook progresses slower so that way survivors have more time to think of a strategy to save their friend, and to also implement a ping system to help solo queue that doesnt place pings on the map but instead implements text next to the survivors names that says "killer on me" "im on a gen" "im going to save the hooked survivor" but doesnt implement pings in the 3d world that shows where the killer is at or where things are.
I made a video discussing one reason why players DBD is struggling. the answer: price tag. Dbd's current price tag for full game is $160.00. they've priced themselves out of the market and are only getting more expensive.
one important thing i understood was that players need to play both sides to understand the difficulties each side faces , killer mains and survivor mains need to play both sides. and when they do they can understand each other better and hopefully be less toxic to each other. not really mentioned but important i believe
I think it’s too late they took too long to fixing things They should’ve been listening to players in the beginning Plus over the years the game gets Boring
Just be honest : Where a video-game begins to turn to an e-sport, with prices, tournaments, content creators and non-pro players getting 99% of the "How you should play" experience from internet and not from playing the game itself, toxicity rises.
DBD's not the first game where it happens, won't be the last either.
Like 80% of the players that are toxic now wouldn't be even playing the game if they didn't "see" the fun from another perspective, cause they're not able to "experience" this same fun with their skill and just want to reproduce what made them laugh.
Then another thing is why do we have to buy characters just to put perks on the same character that we use it’s like all the characters have the same perks it would’ve been more interesting if you couldn’t put every perk on one character or killer you shouldn’t be able to use other survivors or killers perks on other killers or survivors that’s another thing that they messed up on
I think the main reason im not playing dbd that often anymore is 9 out of 10 games i get survivors just chilling in corners doing nothing. Or il get a killer who just likes to face camp.. So the experiense is not funn its just boring and frustrating :/
How I see it when either side runs specific perks there is someone ready to spill the beans about how it was some methods or things in the game itself cause anger towards each side who likes face camping? Some killers do might be shitty but that's they're play style I can't tell anyone how to play any game you play however you wanna play I personally don't care for face camps cause in the end as long as someone on my team is doing something and not being afk then it's worth dying for if it buys them more time same with taking one for the team I run a endgame build and tank noed hits for people sure killers hate that shit but I'm just thinking outside the box can't hate on someone doing something different. That's just weird imo
I am not coming back in a game full of cheaters no matter what , everything else comes after that , the fact that banned people don't even have to buy the game again or create a new steam account is just retarded , the game has no future , i am not gonna trust this shit , again.
we have moved past the point of "borrowed time OP" lol this game is over half a decade old. the duration of the game's life has been players vs. devs. nothing has ever changed. it's only on the devs at this point…. and players can clearly see that.
While I agree the recent changes are good, the damage has already been done. They take YEARS to listen to the community and implement things that we have been complaining about, so once a new batch of bad changes come, it's gonna take them ages to fix it. It's a vicious cycle that has been evident for a long time.
Im not into DBD since the start but im a littlebit confused if the game how it is currently played is indeed intended by the devs that way. Because my understanding would be its the survivors main target (beside the gens ofcourse) to not get seen by the killer at all, i mean… The killer is either a psychopath or a real monster (blight for example, not much human anymore) so you would think survivors would try to do theyre best to keep a low profile no? That would make sense storytelling wise, like, more immersive?.. Hide n Seek isnt THAT bad of a concept, remember when we played it as kids all time? its fun. But apperently i have heard a lot it is considered boring by a bigger group of people, doing gens and hiding, ofc, with the map design it would be so boring for the killer too if everyone would play like that.. So with the loops, flashlights, etc. there is competition given by the devs, but it came to a point where good SWF groups will split up, 1 guy looping the killer constantly and the others gen rushing, i dont know if hide and seek would be better, probably it would be really boring with the current way the game is programmed. I still think BHVR didnt intend people to loop for 5 minutes straight or even bodyblocking the killer or such things.
Personally what nearly end my fun for the game is litteraly the toxicy. I most of the time dont care if i win or lose, sometimes it gets to me when i feel like i had 0 chance to do something. But its the toxicy what makes everything worse in those situations to a point where you always get stressed from the start when you see certain characters or even customizations. So i think the toxicy is a big part of DBD's problem, all though there are so wholesome people too. One Trickster Player gave me some strength back to keep sticking to the game., since i start to be less stressed or sweaty about it and im hoping i can keep that mindset which this amazing person planted in my brain XD probably not even knowing he/she kept a guy from quiting.

Just saying the latest update is terrible bugs everywhere
DBD is struggling because of the toxic community add a offline mode I'm sure those problems would go away, look at Friday the 13th it's dead but people still play it and enjoy it because it has a offline mode.
I have been playing Dbd since thr Alpha and imo the glory days are over
Why coconut believe reducing the healing speed of boon circle of healing was a good nerf?
to me, dbd was fine like nearly a year ago at this point, but the devs kept making changes which pushed me to the point of not even caring about the game anymore
If you care about something you'll show passion in different ways, one is exactly that toxicity. DBD needs new game modes, das it. 8v2, 1v1 chasing with turns, hide&seek, and then killer specific gamemodes to have fun with their unique playstyle.
its all about the people. if a game has some exploitable bugs you dont have to abuse them. if a killer like bubba is "best" in camping u dont have to play like that. yes most of the bugs, balance issues, exploits and shit are the dev´s "fault" but who tells you you have to play like an asshole and ruin others experience?! no one does. they player makes these decissions but people will always blame everthing on others, thats how humans are. its never the killers fault if he chases 1 guy for 2 minutes and 3 gens are poppin. its never the clicky clicky tbagging 4man unbreakable ds´s fault if they get camped, tunneled and sluggef for 3 minutes. its pretty sad to see people being toxic to each other in a game they want to have "fun" themself. Heres an idea regarding your solution, they could just make it real.

I'm a rare player then even tho they camp tunnel or anything rlly I'm just chill about it yea it sucks u can't play but it's just a game
I am not coming back in a game full of cheaters no matter what , everything else comes after that , the fact that banned people don't even have to buy the game again or create a new steam account is just retarded , the game has no future , i am not gonna trust this shit , again.
this makes absolutely no sense
I like how Coconut did the Legend of Zelda Majoras mask Kamaro’s Mask Dance throughout the entire video
we have moved past the point of "borrowed time OP" lol this game is over half a decade old. the duration of the game's life has been players vs. devs. nothing has ever changed. it's only on the devs at this point…. and players can clearly see that.
While I agree the recent changes are good, the damage has already been done. They take YEARS to listen to the community and implement things that we have been complaining about, so once a new batch of bad changes come, it's gonna take them ages to fix it. It's a vicious cycle that has been evident for a long time.
Even the shirt changes mid video xd
