In this DBD video we’re going to discuss the new map The Shattered Square, AKA not an actual castle map. This map is coming with the Forged in Flood chapter and it looks like it was left in the oven a bit too long. We’ll talk about the design, balance, size, and what we want from future maps in dead by daylight.

  1. My first impression of the map is that it was boringly basic, like Wrecker's Yard but with red coloring. I feel that if they're going to release such a basic map at this point, they might as well expend the realm to two or three maps for the chapter. Anyway, I'm really hoping every time they make a new map that they release my new favorite map. Hasn't happened since OG RPD (because I knew it inside and out).

  2. That idea of interactive maps made think of something like an extra level that u can only get to by teleporting. For example in eerie of cringe u can interact with the painting at main building and go inside the painting to a different room outside of the Main map.

    For Macmillan maps there could be 5 random traps that act like exactly trappers traps but instead u can escape it after one try, and once they active they disappear until a gen is done or someone is hooked then another one spawns up to a maximum of 8.

    For coldwind farm there could be chainsaw in main building that if they fall on a survivor insta down them or if they fall on the killer they get stunned for 5 secs

    Garden of pain could have built in night fall after 3 gens pop and the only light in the map comes from light sources such as fire barrels or completed gens

    Midwich can automatically put survivors in cages when their downed until death hook, then u have to pick them up

    All of the ideas I have rn might make more if anything comes to mind

  3. fuck the maps, I want to see hook changes. All hooks need to have Pyramid Head's special interaction complete with the sacrifice animation for transport. This will kill trading/farming and camping.

  4. Well said. Way too much red and orange. Color blindness nightmare. Why are they making pallets look unrealistic??? I work with pallets and the last 2 pallet reworks were garbage. I do hope they are letting the balance team make the maps.

I think we just have to face facts that maps are never going to get fixed to where they are fair for both sides just because of the simple fact that maps are the survivors playground and the hooks are the killers playground which is evident by a lot of killers camping and a lot of survivors bringing map offerings

  6. To be honest, this is what I think Coldwind should have been reworked into. A border between light and dark minus the red color. The decision to make it in total daylight completely took away any sense of unsettlement or fear within the corn.

  7. I mean… so far I would much more like to play on this rather than Garden of Pain or Eerie of Cringe. (And Im getting these two maps constantly lately, it is almost physicaly painful.

    Of course he ends by calling you a dweeb when he wants to play comp on the PTB, which to him just means free DLC period I wonder which side this entitled rat mains?
