In this video, I make the argument that Dead by Daylight is actually balanced – though this balance hinges on an extremely unfair axis and swings very wildly to each side. There’s also two matches from a recent showcase hosted by @hens333 that features Team Eternal vs XenoDBD (Spirit) and V1rtual (Blight).

That's footage of my last match on Hawkins… Good times… 😭
I only wish for good MMR. It's hard to even learn chases, when you get either bad or strong opponent. I want someone on my mid level, so I could chill. What's the point of technical balance, if there is no skill balance.
One thing is for certain, the game has become much more balanced than it used to be. The devs have been actively trying and I commend them for that.
i feel like ther game is survivor sided if you try to play fun, have the first surv die around 7 hooks or something but i understand you cant change that without making tunneling too strong
Please make a video showcasing all 5 matches! Also I think the problem for many newer players is the average stats really hurts for them. 60% kills per game might be the same survivor and a random other most games. I know they just need to "get good" etc but that's hard when your chases last 10s and you don't have friends to practice 😑
ok now test solo queue with a newer player on a newer account see how often they get camped tunneled and slugged at 5 gens. you cant measure the game with just your very close circle of very good players.
I still don't understand why people praise Dead Hards so much? Yes, he pressed E lol
i have about 3k hours, and i’d say about 80% of my teammate’s are about 300 max, one time i even got paired with 20 hours, and then hardly anyone im with brings actual helpful perks, the mmr feels like a lie to me, i die more often than i survive, in about an 8 hour session i could probably count with one hand how many times i escape, it feels like they genuinely don’t want to try, they do nothing, just frolic about, never doing gens and never rescuing and it’s such a toll on me having to do more gens per game than usual, it’s made me discouraged to play even with friends so i’ve decided to put dbd down indefinitely
i admit it im a yun jin main
How does the spirit game highlight balance? It looked pretty killer sided, given its some of the best survivor players around. I don't think this game was a good example, it was a spirit with incredible skill and seemingly no obstruction. No crazy plays or perks paid off for survivors, they just did gens when they could and played as well as they can against a superspeed invisible killer with near infinite power.
I feel like the blight played badly and didn't run the best addons. He should have ran 33 and alce ring. If you consider that in the game that he played he would have downed the ace significantly faster at the start. Also floods and gift of pain dont make sense if you are going to tunnel anyway
I have little experience in DBD (about 1k hours for a survivor and a little for a killer). I used to play StarCraft 2 and one of the problems that the developers of this game tried to solve was the difficulty of balancing the game at different skill levels of the players. If a weak faction was buffed to help the newbies, the pro players would gain an advantage, resulting in that faction dominating the tournaments and the master league. For DBD – exactly the same problem of group play and solo. If you strengthen some perk, it will give an advantage to all players. I think it's wrong to take the top 1 players with the best communication perks and talk about balance. Solo-q seems completely broken in DBD.
man lab gameplay, miss that map
RIP Hawkins
11:20 i remeber something briefly about this "m1 expecting a DS" can someone tell me what was going on there?
Map is come back
The Problem Mr "i got almost 900ü hours" is that an average Killer dont play like the Killer u showed in your Videos, but the average survivor does.
Experience was a very frustrating thing for me to deal with learning the game. I regularly found myself up against people with 2k-6k hours within my first hundred hours starting the game as killer, it was intensely frustrating trying to learn while dealing with people who'd long since internalized everything that was new to me.
Experience isn't the end all be all, but experience on a good player can make that player extremely hard to deal with, whether killer or survivor.
Funny how the biggest crutch perk gets nerfed for survivor and still 3 of the 4 best survivors are using it, I’ve been saying it’s still good (survivor main btw)
At this point the game probably should just die for the good of everyone
These survivors suck but there's literally nothing to be done against a spirit like that
Hmm really intersting bc i know for a damn fact that you only need to play dead lock, corrupt no way out, noed on a one shot killer and proxy camp at first hook to make sure someone will try to unhook that is impossible bc killers still allowed to use abiltys on hook reasurenc brings by far not enough time to complet 5 gens before the one on hook is dead and the killer gets the next free kill and for the end you have noed and no way out to get a guranted 3k or even 4k and that literally works against even semi swfs and i can tell that with my 13k hours
Good video
Although I can agree with the 'balance' aspect, I do not agree with what it is balanced around – surviving. In BHVRs mind, a Dwight who hides in lockers until all his teamates are dead, then finds hatch, or uses exit gate perks, is MORE skilled than the Nea who completes 3 gens, loops the killer for 120 seconds and unhooks teammates mulltiple times. This creates a huge problem with experienced solo survivors who are altruistic vs. newbie survivors wanting to survive – as the newbie survivors tend to escape more because the experienced players sacrifices themselves for the team. This leads to both players getting into MMR they shouldn't be in, making the game unfun for newbie killers vs. experienced survivors and unfun for experienced survivors getting teamed up with newbie survivors. The only composition that are not affected by this are SWF – which is placed in extremely controlled conditions – but if we take the game in its entirety, there is discrepancy, which is why even the most seasoned players like JRE or Hens don't have a 50 solo survivor escape without a greedy play style.
Watching comp players in this game is crazy it's like they play another game entirely
I was looking at all the skins the perks and any hint that confirmed Hawkins was back then I saw your comment 😭
whats the music at around 3:30?
They just need some type of matchmaking change that puts all Blights, Nurses and other strong killers against SWF premades, and leave the other killers against solo q
otz you are the marx of dead by daylight
so if i get it must play perfectly and try my very hard to making it somehow "balance"… f hell i'm bad or not i doesn't want this bs !
the way i looked at it. with these recent changes the game is map and RNG sided. you can be a good killer against average survivors on your killers worst map and lose. but get them in an open map and dominate them. mmr is so bad that most people are never even equal skill, at least for my matches. But if i try my hardest with huntress and 4k almost every game and if iI play casually i get 2 to 3k it says something. You have to sweat to make this game "killer sided" and same vice versa.
Wow I miss Hawkins
So THIS study resulted like this, but your huntress vs deathslinger video had: no restrictions on killers, but restriction on the survivors as well as the killers best choice map. Neither killer won any of the games.
But isn't having them use killers, addons and perks that are already considered the strongest, an encapsulation of the problem with balance?
My view on the balance is that you either use these specific perks/killers or you are at a huge disadvantage, because bhvr doesn't iterate nearly fast enough to change it up. Sadako fan here.
So pyramid head is equal to Yun Jin
