The Sadgirls of Dead by Daylight

A recent Reddit post described the Legion’s Julie as being the only female Killer in Dead by Daylight to not have a “sad girl” backstory. In this video, I challenge that notion by diving into the lore for every female Killer.

  1. I think a cool design for an evil female killer would be a woman who kills other women for beauty purposes, like to bathe in their blood or make wigs from their scalp. It's a new motive, fits better to a female killer than male, is very evil and scary and has big potential for cosmetics

  2. I’ve always placed the Huntress somewhere near the Demogorgon, in that she’s not really sympathetic or evil since she barely sees herself as human. The writers don’t seem to give her lore a clear direction down either path because I don’t think she belongs in either category. It’s like feeding a wolf a live rabbit because it didn’t catch it’s dinner if you give her sympathy, but if you kill the wolf because it was hunting for dinner in the first place, that isn’t fair either.

  3. Eugenics also includes terminating those who have "undesirable" traits, to prevent them from ever having kids, as seen with that one guy from that one place.

Never thought I'd have a convo like this on a DbD video, but I just thought I'd add that detail.

  4. I think a big problem with your view points on some these killers is because they do bad things or react to things badly they aren’t sad girl or are evil, you have to know people change over time or learn things over time like good people can do bad things or just don’t even think about it tho I’m typing this while watching and really just throwing my first ideas out if you wanna debate on some

  5. Adiris is THE most sympathetic killer imo. Like, every other killer is neutral at best, just trying to live their lives, but Adiris is ACTIVELY BENEVOLENT. I mean, sure, the human sacrifice stuff happened, but like you said it was a different time back then. Adiris was raised to believe that her sacrifices to the gods were a necessity for the good of humanity. And as we've seen in her lore, she HATES it, she feels guilty about sacrifice. She even has to dissociate from it by hiding under the veil of the Maiden Guard. The only problem is the Entity sunk his claws into her, masquerading as her god to manipulate her good nature into something twisted. Otherwise she'd have run off with Haban and been like a good-natured atheist or something like that, who knows what. Even with the Entity's voice in her ears she's willing to undergo personal injury and sacrifice to keep her people safe. Just a really tragic figure with a heart of gold buried under all the vomit.

I guess the same thing could be said about Artist but honestly I just can't take her lore seriously. It is indeed HILARIOUS how unrelentingly unfortunate it is and she mostly just comes off as a punching bag for the writers.

Also, I totally agree with what you said about Huntress and Amanda. I follow Pixel Bush and Amanda's Tome Lore painted her in a different light than Saw, but REGARDLESS, yeah they evil.

  6. Honestly I see the Plague as a very sympathetic person. She believed that she was doing the right thing and kept her faith until the very end, and it could be argued that her faith continues even now as she participates in the Trials—possibly seeing them as a chance to appease her gods and by extension the only avenue to keeping her people alive and well. She never took pleasure in killing—the worst thing she did in my opinion was kill Haban, and even then it wasn't like she killed him to kill him. She just saw him as a heretic; heretics displease the gods; displeasured gods can lead into even worse conditions for her people; and she did what she had to do. I think you brought up a really good point of putting yourself in that time, that mindset.

  7. Should it be noted in the New Year Shoplifter Outfit for Susie, it mentions that she stabbed a guy during a mugging and left him for dead. So it seems she's willing to commit some crimes, including assault/attempted murder, and if the guy did die she would have the highest kill count of The Legion before The Entity took them (2 whereas everyone else just killed the janitor). Though this is information from a cosmetic, and it is possible some cosmetics are non-canonical. But it is more evidence of her being less sad girl and more evil.

  8. Nurse is sad girl cause her fraying mental state latched onto the eugenics idea. Look at it like this. Sally was a person with a mind that began to crack and the eugenics idea wormed it’s way in because she was nearing her break.
