These changes would SAVE Dead by Daylight

Alright? In this video I spout my worthless opinions on things that I think would help fix a lot of the problems with DBD (as I see it right now). They aren’t so much gameplay focused but more quality of life changes that would make things 100000x times better (again, in my opinion).

  1. oi oi, if you're too lazy to write codes click this link: http://gamersupps.gg/discount/PEBSIE?afmc=PEBSIE

    also

I'm pre-empting lots of "[other creator] said that!!!" comments (which is totally fine and cool). A lot of these are ideas that people in my Twitch chat have said while I've been live, so chances are they've all been thunked up by better minds than me, and throwing the same or slightly modified ideas out there can't hurt. That said I've purposefully avoided videos that cover a similar topic as this and being honest don't watch a lot of DBD content on YouTube anyway, so if these are all entirely ideas that another YTber has said believe me when I say I didn't realise.

Then again, the comments might not all be like that. Who knows. Cheers for watching!

Buy GamerSupps with code Pebsie also.

  2. Kicking a gen takes a few seconds as killer
But touching the gen as survivor and stopping it from regressing it takes no time, some do it while in a chase…
    Just slap and go

I want that the survivors have to stay on that gen as long as a kicking animation takes(at least) and only then it stops regressing once they let go

    Nothing else changes
Just so they can't slap and go to stop the gen from regressing it after a kick

So kicking a gen is worth it

  3. an in-game leaderboard would be amazing
also better custom lobby support – able to get map seeds for example, to make tournaments for the people who want to do competitive a lot better.

  4. I want to add something: add MORE earnable cosmetics! Just like Bubba faces, that you need to kill X survivors 20 times! I read the idea of EGC cosmetics in Twitter, and basically is like this: Unhook 50/75/100 survivors during the EGC / Hook 50/75/100 survivors during the EGC (every tier gives you a EGC cosmetic, like prestige)

Or idk, you recibe a cosmetic after getting the adept cosmetic of X character, like a recolor of the body/torso of the caracter

There could be more ideas, but those are the ones I have in mind

People would LOVE to have those

  5. MMR IS the competitive portion, having it in a casual mode would completely ruin the point of having a casual mode at all.
I personally would LOVE to play in casual mode, that way I would hopefully see something other than Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Borrowed Time, Iron Will on Survivors.
But let's be real, even in a "casual" mode you'd still get face campers and tunnelers and clicky-clicky try-hards who just want to ruin other people's fun. So I don't think a casual mode would ever actually work in DbD.

I still care about Bloodpoints, but I don't have everyone P3-L50 yet sooooooo.

You have to remember that the game runs on spaghetti code, so even the simplest of changes are risky. It took them so long to change Iri Head from a "Base 1" to "Max 1" after all.

I'm all for removing Perk Tiers, my only problem is that I would never be able to use Monitor & Abuse then, because anything about T1 of that perk gives me motion sickness.

In addition to the "Entity's Bell" I would like the Killer to have some means of finishing the final generator. I've had a couple of games where I was very clearly outmatched as Killer and was having no fun and the Survivors REFUSED to do the final gen until I started 'trying' to kill them again, even though I had made it abundantly clear I had given up and just wanted them to leave. By being able to finish the last gen yourself when you've given up it'd prevent that sort of thing from happening.

A personal change I'd like to see if that if a Survivor clicks a flashlight on and off and on again the bulb breaks and the flash light is useless for the rest of the trial. I just want clicky-clicky to not be a thing any more. That is not what flashlights are for, and there is no reason to ever need to do it other than being toxic to someone. If your going for a blind you turn on and hold, if you want to get another Survivor's attention for something, such as a heal or for them to follow you to a gen you can click and hold for a bit with no need to rapid click. The only reason to rapid click is to be toxic.

  6. Here is why ranked mode would not work in my view.

First, as your twitter poll illuminated 76% of your community would rather play casual mode. This would mean that the ranked mode queues would be terrible especially at late hours. This is worse than it seems because you polled your viewers and people who watch DBD content are more committed and probably tend to be more competitive. The DBD population at large is probably even more casual.

Second, as MMR has pointed out, people, especially killer players, do not like going up against people that are at the same level as them. This is not an insult to killer players or the streamers who complain about MMR, it is simply an observation. MMR has been miserable for most people, and I think that even the competitive side of the community would have no interest in such a mode as more competitive focused DBD highlights the gross imbalance of DBD. I'm a survivor main, but when I play killer, and I admit this is anecdotal, I hate going against survivors that are of equal skill or better than me. Losing as killer in DBD feels particularly bad, it is unlike losing in any other game where losing does not matter to me. Therefore, I think it is simply the natural inclination of most people that they would rather face much worse opponents when they play killer. I do believe that most people are to prideful to admit this, but I have no shame in such an admission.

Third, this is somewhat linked to my first point but I think it is a interesting point nonetheless. I have been part of the Team Fortress 2 (TF2) community for several years and would like to note the competitive mode in that game. In TF2 the competitive mode is the equivalent of ranked in other games, however, in TF2 the game mode is completely dead, you will have to wait for 30 minutes to get into a game if you are lucky. One may wonder why this is, and the answer is simple: the community, by in large, is quite casual in comparison to most FPS games. I fear that DBD's ranked mode will suffer the same fate if it were pursued. We would then have a wasted game mode, one that took dev hours to create, dev hours that could have been better spent elsewhere (for example every other things you mentioned in the video).

Fourth, you mention in the video that you want your games to feel meaningful, and I find this quite perplexing. To me, if I had fun in the match that is meaningful to me and I would assume that is the case for most people. I am unsure why you would say that people think that when they win or lose it is meaningless. Putting meaning to wins or penalties for losing, just makes losing feel worse and less fun. And if you feel there is no reason to play the game unless you are productive or given incentives for winning, I think you are simply not having fun with the game as meaning would be created from that.

And My final point, as you say in this video as you progress in rank you will go up against harder opponents and have better teammates. This sounds good on paper, but again as the MMR system has pointed out, the feeling of progressing and increasing your MMR (which would be rank/MMR in the new system) is more of a punishment than a reward, especially for killer players. I see no reason that people would not feel the same about this ranked mode. Thanks for reading, and if anyone disagrees with anything feel free to reply, I really do like all the other suggestions in this video.

  7. A ranked mode would ruin dbd. Comp would be unplayable. Every game would be 4 stacks with the best items and addons and the killer would be a nurse or blight with stupid addons that carry them. The game cannot go to a comp and casual mode without killing the game

  8. I think the blood point cap is to add incentive to not do just one category, it forces you to think “I need to do gens and other objectives to get blood points” I personally don’t like it

  9. A simple way to fix the generator skill check while getting off thing would be to make generator skill checks similar to Overcharge skill checks. Where the skill check bar stays even when you're running around away from the generator until you hit or fail it.

  10. My quality of life change would be one of a few things. Maybe some visual indication as to what kind of item a survivor is bringing? Cus if I’m a killer and I see a lobby of four medkits, I would probably dodge it because they could all be purple medkits with charge add one, but I wouldn’t if I knew they were just brown and yellow medkits.

Another thing would be holding tab shows a detailed description of your status effects- so if you’re exhausted it shows a little timer next to it if exactly how long left, if you’re cursed it will show you what hex is affecting you or something like that.

Also the randomness in the shrine and the bloodweb is unnecessary. Just let me pick the perks I want. It’s a game, it’s meant to be fun, not just for me to take what I’m given. It’s especially bad when you’ve just prestiged or bought a killer and you just can’t play them for a while because you have nothing. If the bloodweb just gave an ‘empty perk’ slot where I could pick a perk to either unlock for that character or level up then I don’t think levels or teachables would be a problem anymore.

  11. I don’t think there should be separate game modes, I think they should just admit the MMR system was a horrible idea & revert to the ranking system. I enjoyed being at rank 1 but I do not enjoy being at high MMR. I’ve always prided myself on playing as the weaker killers: legion, pig clown, wraith etc and I’d consistently win most my matches. Now I get lucky to 1k (I don’t run noed) as I am forced against 4 man swf in 99% of my games due to MMR. As anyone knows, swf is incredibly op when they are trying & at high they are; the games last 5 minutes even if I do relatively well in chase & get downs in under 40s. SWF are just far efficient to the point it almost makes skill in chase irrelevant as even if they only last 30s, a gen will pop before I can hook the guy & make it back to the gen. I literally cannot win as the lower tier killers which include my main (probably the weakest killer in the game now) legion & it just fucking sucks. I can handle the occasional loss but losing match after match & having the same repetitive cycle of 5 minute genrush games kills my desire to play killer. I just want winnable games & games against 3/4 man swfs aren’t winnable unless you’re nurse, hag or blight. I’m devotion 9 & it’s the fire time since 2017 that I’ve actually wanted to quit killer. Even when things were unfairer back in the day with nearly every map having a good window, double pallets, etc it was more fun cos I’d verse a variety of players from baby to pro so it made my matches a lot more fair. Up until MMR, I’d been versing rank 8-1s in my matches as a rank 1 & it made the game a lot more fair as even though the ranks are unbalanced; the dynamic is not as it prevents killer from losing 3 gens by their first hook. I finish my games with 3 or 4 hooks nowadays as my main & it just fucking sucks. This game is too imbalanced for an MMR or even skill-accurate ranking system as at the higher levels of dbd the game is incredibly survivor due to swf efficiently. The game is ironically far more fair for everyone when it the survivors team has a mix of high & lower skill players against a high skill killer then a high killer against purely high skill survivors.

  12. I like these ideas and I know the grind is very big to get all perks maxed out, but I still think there should be tiers on perks. But hey, they’re just my thoughts 🙂
