  1. This was the same issue with the Legion tome. Julie was a tragic victim in the original lore tab, and then remade into a psycho girl in the tome. It also toned down Frank's manipulative nature and made him more one note. It also did nothing for Suzie and Joey… all these characters with enormous potential for storytelling, but the author who wrote it was just too lazy to put in the effort.

  2. Why don't you just write something tbh, fan fiction. You criticize the writers for what they do, and even for what they don't do or have a job to do. Like John not being deeply in the story when her addition is the focus in dead by daylight. Js, disappointing yeah, but they didn't have to talk about him. Dont misunderstand me I'm just speaking my mind having listened to the full video.

  3. I agree, the tome felt lackluster. I wanted more moments between John and Amanda, those two are the reason I love the Saw movies so much. I love their relationship. Anytime John popped up in the tome I got excited, but they don’t say a word to each other.
The one thing that made me happy with the tome was the cosmetics we got in the rift. The one cosmetic I always wanted for Amanda was the black coat John wore, and while I don’t like the execution, the reverse bear trap crown is cool.

  4. Saw is my favorite Franchise and Amanda is in my opnion, by far the most well written character. Maybe its because she died early so they didnt have the time to ruin her, but shes my favorite character on the movies, as she is my favorite in the game.

    My main for life ❤️

  5. There is one thing I think they get a little bit right about Amanda: her possessiveness of John. She is so afraid of losing his favor that she does makes a lot of counterintuitive decisions that end up fracturing her relationship with John more. She put Kerry in an inescapable trap to protect John because she knew if Kerry went free that she would most likely double her efforts to arrest and stop John. Part of the reason she hates Lynn so much is misplaced jealousy over John’s perceived care for her. Of course she doesn’t realize that care for Lynn is actually his attempt to stop Amanda from dooming herself. And Hoffman exploits that in order to take Amanda out of the equation.

  6. I personally think that Amanda is perfectly summarized as someone without faith in their own abilities. When she begins to rely on Kramer, it ironically backfires as Kramer begins to rely on her. Lost in a struggle between her faith in Kramer and her lack of faith in herself, when she relapses into destructive habits after becoming Kramer's apprentice, her entire worldview is challenged. If she's incapable of change, then Kramer was wrong in his theory. If Kramer was wrong, then the only person who cared for her was wrong to do so.

She sees Kramer as someone who legitimately cares for her, and as such she wants to be worthy of his care, but she also has a personal struggle with his philosophy. In a way, it's somewhat like a religion: you have to have faith in your idol or you have nothing to rely on at all. If you don't have faith in a higher power and their goals, then why do you exist? If she doesn't have the infallible Kramer and his ideology to help her, then she doesn't have anyone or anything, since she can't rely on herself to change without an external conduit.

Her unwinnable games are a perfect example of her internal conflict. She has to carry on Kramer's legacy; it's all she has left. But she also sees the faults in Kramer's ideas. While she doesn't actually enjoy or take satisfaction in setting up the games, as evident by her stress in the Bathroom Game prep, she continues to set them up so that she may have a purpose. The traps she sets up are a perverted, tainted form of Kramer's original idea, brought to life not through belief but through necessity.

    Tldr; Amanda has no self-confidence.

  7. Amanda's such a fascinating character. I'm happy she's in Dead By Daylight. Otherwise, I'd probably be disappointed. And the Reverse Bear Trap she uses as a secondary weapon, Besides her hidden blade. I was expecting Mark Hoffman or Dr. Lawrence Gordon to be The Pig, Nope! Amanda became the better choice! Yeah, I don't like Hoffman either. He just "hogs" some scenes in the first couple films. Even though this "Tome" is not great. I like Amanda's new cosmetic!

  8. I bought and started playing Twins in the last few weeks because of you and I can’t thank you enough. Twins was a breath of fresh air, and terrifying a survivor in a chase by dropping and ending the chase with Victor is an extremely satisfying feeling. Fastest killer I’ve ever got to level 50.

  9. Much love to you all but I main Piggy because she is fun to play and her stun sounds are super cute. I've never watched a Saw movie and probably never will as you had to capture my interest as a young man for me to invest any time in your works currently. I spent my youth playing Tenchu and Metal Gear whilst consuming all of Tolkien's works as if they were sustenance.

  10. Hi Pixel! Hope you're doing good. For me personally, this story should've expanded upon her relationship with the Entity. Was she loyal from the get-go or secretly super scared? Has it become a new parent figure to her? Does it whisper to her in John's voice? One thing this story did well was showing Amanda's need for a vice. From drugs to feeling special that she survived Jigsaw's trap and exalting herself for it. That's her tragedy. She was capable and John wanted her to build upon that. She did have love as a person, she just never knew healthy love.

  11. I want to watch the saw movies simply because amanda is such a queen, but im way too much of a baby when it comes to gore. So im glad atleast this video exists while I grow some balls to actually watch the movies

  12. I agree with the criticisms… but I'm afraid it won't do much. In fact, it may even have the OPPOSITE effect, as Behavior lately seems to overreact to any and all criticism about them, punishing players by taking away cosmetics and reducing their rank for openly doubting them. They continually show via developer talks in videos that they don't care about what the Community has to say about their decisions and products, playing it off as an entirely different problem or ignoring the problem entirely, and questions on Twitter lead to snappish, impatient rebuttals. (so, Amanda can't take criticism, just as Behavior can't take criticism… I think this story is more autobiographical then they intended)
Also, as a sidenote, I'm finally throwing my hands up in the NFT issue; I tried talking to people on the Discord, who openly laughed at and disparaged me for trying, some of the more 'sympathetic' ones saying that as long as they don't use Blockchain tech, then the game won't be pulled from STEAM. I have doubts about this, but, due to the ineffectualness of my protests to change anything, I'm giving up. I know I'm not supposed to purchase anything, but I might get Sadako and Yoichi. It's been months since I began my protest, but I'm… I'm giving up. It's over. Sorry.

  13. To me, I think it's more desperstion than anything. I think the tome (poorly) shows her trying to convince herself she can do this. "His legacy is good hands" isn't something that's a fact, it's something she's telling herself. Her confidence issues are there if you read it like that

  14. I'm happy that someone else noticed the rat trap at the start of the tome didn't really fit into the SAW universe. I couldn't put my finger on why the trap seemed out of place but once you pointed out that animal abuse isn't really something that is shown in any of the SAW movies it all made since. SAW traps are known for their more mechanical aspects I feel.

  15. Poor Amanda just can't win. I hate how they did her dirty in the films with Hoffman. In DBD, she's one of the weakest killers, and now her game lore is mediocre, misleading crap. I don't know who's actually writing the lore either, but you're right, it's grammatically clumsy. As for the lore itself, it feels like they confused Amanda with Hoffman.

As someone who wants a more vicious female Killer, I agree–this is not what I want. I didn't want Amanda's character rewritten to accomplish that. I don't see why it's so hard to create a female Killer that isn't driven by grief, by love, or by insanity caused by suffering (that is often the Entity's fault). They tried rewriting the Nurse to accomplish this and just shat all over a character who didn't need that change and clearly wasn't intended to be that way from the start.

  16. Inside BHVR are 2 wolves:

1 writes things that improve characters for Pixel Bush.

1 writes things that ruin characters for Pixel Bush.

On the bright side, if the pattern stands it'll be the good writer for the Twins tome

  17. You know, unlike a lot of other people in Amanda's traps, I can understand Amanda wanting to get rid of a politician accepting bribes from a company to keep polluting/poisoning the water. I'm not saying she's ethically correct, HOWEVER I can see why she wants to do this

  18. i know this is offtopic, but if they made arleady james skin for cheryl, and new pig skin doesn't have the pig face, i would really like to see Mark Hoffman as a skin

  19. I agree to an extent of your explanation of Amanda. While the story isn’t that good, the writer has a basic understanding of Amanda, while you have the knowledge of the more complex developments she has. The problem is that she embodies both sides of this argument solely because of Saw 3.

The philosophy of Saw is that people can be saved, they have to “Make their choice” and gauging how valuable life is. Amanda in Saw 3 shows a disregard to this very simple philosophy, making traps akin to murder as there is no escape, and all her victims die. Her traps are rigged, and she undermines Johns Will when she essentially kills everyone who is tested by her.

Again, what you said is a more correct synopsis of her character, but Amanda at some level has to enjoy these traps because there would be no other reason to kill her players. The main distinction here (which you pointed out) where the writers were wrong was that they left out her inner conflicts. This story could have worked, had it expressed the innermost reason why she needs her victims to die: She needs to be special. John is god to her, she wouldn’t question his ideology, she wants validation (she is a ex drug addict after all. John gave her Validation in life as Drugs once did) She’s not bloodthirsty, she’s jealous and envious.

Further proof lies when we have a flashback to behind the scenes of Saw 3 where she bickers with Hoffman like a child. She wants to be the center of John’s attention, she wants to be his number 1. Just to save her own image in John’s eyes, she even follows through with Hoffman’s blackmail letter in order for him not to find out about her role in his unborn child’s death.

Overall, theres many layers to Amanda as a character and its clear that the writers didn’t watch the saw films or lacked a full understanding of the characters they were writing for. However at some level they are kinda right about her in the most basic way

  20. They could've played up the ego and explained the inescapableness of her games if, say, she had a magical button at her disposal that would make the trap escapable and Amanda kept waiting on the victim to break down or beg for their life, show some form of deep resentment or sorrow like what she constantly feels but none of them did for one reason or another and as the (in her head, remorseless) victims of her inescapable traps keep piling up, she herself has a breakdown after each one and her psyche periodically and gradually deteriorates and becomes more hopeless and nihilistic

At her most basic, Amanda thinks "everyone is shit including me", but this tome takes an approach of "I am the shit/everyone is shit except me" and like, please, I've known from experience that anyone who resorts to self-harm would never think like that

  21. I've lowered my expectations for the tomes stories personally. Especially after how they handled Bills story. Not only was it the most disappointing thing i have ever read or watched. but it was just more of the same stuff we can expect. I was ready to see more of Bills backstory, and instead we got a copy/paste Left 4 dead 2 fan story. I was beyond disappointed and ever since then my trust with these tomes has plummeted. not to say that there arent any good stories (for example the clowns i absolutely love) but i just dont expect much which is honestly a bit sad. Great video! excited to watch more!

  22. That rat trap thing is very stupid, that whole thing made me realize why all saw traps are mechanical. Machines are predictable. The entire reason John is an engineer is so that it gives credence to the fact that his traps are so tightly scripted with the only random nature of the game being the human instinct or whatever, animals are just too unpredictable.

  23. For myself honestly I was always like the tomes are what keeps dbd interesting but after this I really did loss all faith in this game and honestly I feel like the Twins will be butchered. They suck at game design and they suck at story telling.

  24. When I started this, I thought your rancour was palpable from the tone dripping from your opening line.

Now I've finished it, I think the best way to approximate your sheer disappointment and disgust is the fact that, for the first time while listening to any of your lore videos, *I have no idea what was going on in the lore*. I know Amanda was utterly misrepresented, and there was the medieval rat claw torture, but beyond that I have no clue what happened. Even with the Nurse video, I walked away knowing what Nurse did and why she did it, even if it was dumb and a gross mischaracterization. Here? I know Amanda was a blowhard with some rats, that's it.

This is not a critique of your work btw, if anything I think it's more a condemnation of how hard BHVR fucked it that they got the LITERAL LORE GUY to not talk about their lore in favour of Saw lore, linguistics, and mischaracterization.

  26. Kind of reminds me of how inconsistently members of the Legion have been written. Susie and Joey will be portrayed in some of their writing as people terrified by Frank and Julie, reluctantly going along with them and feeling pressured.

However, other times (mainly in cosmetic descriptions), they will be portrayed as heartless monsters who will stab someone and leave them to die in an alley just to get their wallet or murder a family celebrating Christmas out of jealousy for their happiness.

  27. It seems like they were probably focusing on getting hoff man around the time they were creating this chapter and already laid down base lore but ended up getting Amanda instead and completely missed the mark with her tome lore. Amanda has no self confidence and feels like she can improve on johns decisions and qualities
