From a killer pov, I think it’s a better approach to view the game as securing hooks rather than kills, especially at the top mmr level where a win is considered as getting at least 3 kills.
Pain res + surveiilance might be still decent.

You're rewarded with a kill after hooks. But it's nice going for lots of chases. That's the whole idea behind going for hooks. Chases
He was trying to say the goal is to not kill the survivor but to hook them 3 times..a 1 hook camp would be worth almost nothing because you failed to let them escape, get back in chase, heal some…the goal is to brutalize the team even if they all escape not kill them so none get away. You must unlearn what you have learned…one can not put knowledge in a cup that is full.
I love when players accuse someone of cheating to realize 5 seconds later that they played vs a streamer.

I play killer so much that I am zoomed in on the action I need to play more survivor
I think they can still move in that direction, even with the community being trained a different way. Its never too late for drastic changes, and I believe even if some of the most entitled players leave the game, many old players would come back if the devs start going in the right direction. The game wont die from that. I would absolutely come back to this game as a 2nd game next to my main game if it gets fixed. Right now I only play when my main game has nothing more to offer in the current Patch, which is normally only for ~2-3 weeks every 3 months. But right now, whenever I Start playing a few matches every day, I realise almost immediately why I dont bother playing more

You won't have to do a thing, just level up normally, and your current prestige level will be based on how many bloodwebs you've unlocked for each killer/survivor.
