Untold Story of The Worst Balanced Game Ever

Out of all the games to have ever gamed, this one, Dead by Daylight, is the most ridiculously imbalanced. Somehow, the game manages to be horrifically imbalanced on both sides. It is both Killer and Survivor-sided. A marvel of modern engineering. Idk how, but it stands above all other asymmetric games in that regard.
The disinterested affect is a thematic choice. It might be dead by daylight, but I’m dead inside.

Throughout Heaven and Earth, it alone is The Imbalanced One.

Although I do poke fun at the developers, especially Mathieu, in this video, it is all just for memes. Mathieu Cote? More like Mathieu Goat.
I’d also like to thank all the content creators who archived all of these broken clips. Thank you all.

  1. I was interested in playing this game when it was first released but never got around to playing it.
I guess it was a good thing?
I'm playing Tekken 8 currently, and the community seems to be just as aggravated as this community, complaining of balance issues.
I personally am enjoying it, but I've been playing Tekken since 1995 as a teen. I'm no stranger to imbalance, i guess 😂.

  2. I clicked on this and when I saw it was dbd I agreed immediately.
What an awful game, it had such promise as well. The fact that it is still the most popular asymmetrical multiplayer game very much upsets me

  3. Last time I played the game I got bully squaded. I got so mad I nearly threw my mouse through my monitor. Luckily it bounced off but I knew then I had to stop playing. Haven't played since that faithful in July 2023

  4. The concept of the playerbase's skill increasing is something I don't think people talk about in competitive games enough. Perfect example of what you say at 20:18 where players aren't actually afraid of the killer is the exact same thing that happens with people in extraction shooters. The first few hours are exciting and stressful because it's unknown and you're trying to survive. A hundred hours in, you know the ropes and play with confidence against a game that thrives off of player fear, thereby completely changing how the game was designed from the get-go, not by any fault of the devs, but because online game communities are organic and constantly changing.

  5. If one side can achieve a 1150 winning streak and the other side can’t come even close to that it’s painfully obvious on which side the game is

  6. Excellent video, however I didn’t see any mention of dead hard? I know u can’t cover everything, but that perk history from broken to useless to broken again and again and again is a pretty interesting topic.

  7. When your players are saying this unfair and unfun as a dev you shouldn’t say no your wrong you should go and try to understand why their having that problem. There seems to be a disconnect between the testers/devs and the live audience because it’s clear they don’t understand how the games actually played

  8. I haven't seen another game like this one that forces play styles outside of game mechanics. Strategies like camping and tunnel visioning are sub-optimal strategies but here you're forced to play "sportsman-like." Game doesn't even have a lot of depth at the end of the day. Skills boil down to stalling or doing an existing mechanic slightly better on a cooldown.

  9. the thing about dbd is it’s so dependent on perks, add ons, items, etc. sometimes the killer brings crazy oppressive perks/add ons and offerings, and absolutely demolishes the survivors, and sometimes the survivors have some crazy abilities and the killer can’t do anything. it also relies heavily on the skill of players. if you have a good killer with a shitty build vs dog ass survivors, they’ll still get a 4k. it’s SO variable based and that’s why it also feels so unbalanced sometimes.

  10. I love how the entire time, newton's law was in effect and there was always equally bs options for both sides, and in that way, the game was balanced. Not a good kind of balance, but a balance nonetheless.
I kind of stopped playing when the boons started releasing. Game has always been on my radar though, particularly because I love otz, and because the game's progress is interesting to me, as game balance is something I love to study, so the balance of a large asymmetrical game is very informative and just fascinating honestly

  11. A game i wish had never been designed as a competitive game and focused on the fun you could have had just trying to survive with friends.
So many killers to play as yet the actual gameplay isn't fun.

  13. I'm a huge horror fan, it's the only reason I've played this huge pile of crap

It breaks my heart seeing so many character that i love so much being in this game that doesn't make them justice

  14. As a game dev and enjoyer of DBD it's interesting to see it all laid out like that! So many of these issues (apart from the WTF were they thinking ones) seem to stem from the devs not recognizing that what might be good for low MMR would be bad for high MMR or vice versa. From what I've seen on other channels they seem to also fall into the trap of big-picture spreadsheet-based tweaks without considering the full implications for why things are the way they are.

TL;DR It seems pretty clear that Behavior has a long history of neglecting player psychology when making changes.

    Good vid!

  15. My favorite DBD moment was running into a bully squad while playing infinite t3 Meyers. During the first mori, all of the remaining survivors stayed right in my face so they could teabag, thinking I was dropping back to t2…so i got the next kill for free lol. I caught the 3rd guy pretty easily, found and closed the hatch, then went and made food while i waited for the endgame collapse to kill the final survivor.

  16. 1.) ….. 2016…..was 8 years ago???

2.) I still kind of miss this unbalanced version of DBD. It sucked, infinites sucked, but most people were just new and you could derank to the point of playing people who were new and it would rarely turn into this bloody mess of infinites, glitches, 4 stack DS, etc. Now if you play a killer that doesn't have a "get across the map quickly" power, or you get unlucky, SWF can 2 stack generators which only take 40 seconds to do and you can lose a game in 3 minutes 22 seconds.

  17. I remember my first and last game of DbD.

I was a killer, no idea how the game worked and I had 4 survivors who were horrible people.

They constantly ran around me, joking and laughing at me, I couldn't catch them, (Probably the infinite run strat). And they just Tbagged and everything.

And the end of the match I had 4 messages on my steam profile with those 4 people giving me bad rep for not being a good killer or saying how bad I was.

For my first ever game, never played it again and whenever people mention DbD, it's always like PTSD. I have never had such a bad experience in a game.

  18. I haven’t played dbd in years and somehow I knew that’s what this video was about. it was unlaced before all the dlc so I can’t imagine how bad it is now
