This video overviews why The Thing hasn’t come to DBD yet. We overview the The Thing license holders and speculate if Behaviour Interactive would ever bring this license into Dead by Daylight as new killer.

  1. I really don't know how to feel about a The Thing chapter. If it was brought in, it just wouldn't feel like the movie. The point of the movie is that it's a slow burn where survivors kill each other out of suspicion and never know who to trust. None of those really work in DbD. Your average match is really quick, so that slow burn quality that builds tension and suspense would be abandoned. Survivors can't kill each other, lest the mechanic be used purely to grief and fuck with others, which means the main moment-to-moment feel of the movie would be abandoned. And last, Survive with Friends completely destroys any possible distrusting mechanics, so those would be abandoned too. I'd absolutely love to see it, and I'd be ecstatic if Behavior found a way to pull it off, but I highly doubt they could considering just how different the two things are.

  2. I would like to see Mahogany from The Midnight Meat Train. (Obscure pick but he would fit perfectly into Dead By Daylight)
Sam and Dean from Supernatural as Survivors.
Quint from Jaws as a Survivor. (The most realsitic way to implement Jaws into Dead by Daylight)
Deadite(s) from Evil Dead as a Killer (Similar to Legion except their cosmetics would be possessed Survivors and they can use the Necromonicon as an item like Pinhead's Puzzle Box)
Pamela Voorhees as a skin for Jason (if he ever gets added)
The Leprechaun as a Killer from the Leprechaun movies. (RIP Warwick Davis)
The Djinn from the Wishmaster movies.
The Tall Man from the Phantasm movies.
    Count Orlok from Nosferatu.
Imhotep from The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).
No idea why Ben from Night of the Living Dead isn't a Survivor already: that movie is literally public domain, there's nothing stopping them.

  3. I think The Thing should have 3 abilities, shapeshifting, controlling and AI. It shapeshifting could allow it to transform into survivors, controlling could allow it to actually control survivors and not just mimic them and then AI could allow it to create body horror esc minions that we’ve seen throughout John Carpenters The Thing to attack survivors.

  4. What I love is John Carpenter has a genuine love for videogames too. So while I'm not surprised more of his movies aren't some way adapted to games. He worked on that Thing videogame to the point he is a character in it, voiced by himself as well. His 'blessing' pretty much sells a project like that and he recently said in a dead meat interview he isn't bothered by hearing halloween's theme he basically hears the money rolling in.

So I'm hoping he'd give his blessing to The Thing in DBD too, not that it's exactly needed. But they have to do the Thing right. Sure have it appear as a grotesque amalgamation. But it's main power better be to assimilate survivors. like it needs 20-30 seconds 'alone' with a survivor to clone them. Kindred is like the only early sign of who got cloned. 'blood testing kits' are scattered like nemesis chests in limited amounts. Making it turn into a gritty realistic version of among us. Pallet smashes break the clone effect, it can only last two minutes maximum, killer can't interact with gens while cloned. Still gets blinded, but no indicator other than 'blinded killer' bp notification popping up.

The beauty of The Thing as a killer is it would promote using 'survivors start together tokens' as it keeps 'trust' but has the effect of preventing gen rushes ideally, however they obviously get done much quicker.

  5. I'd love to see The Thing in DBD, it would be awesome. Especially if they have RJ macready with the likeness of Kurt Russell as well. I'm sure they could do something very interesting with the power too

  6. Would be cool if its like the Imposter in Prop Night (the DBD copy with prop hunt) where the killer can morph into another survivor, fake working on gens and self-healing, and attack other players.

  7. Having a killer that imitates the look of other survivors would add so much paranoia to the game. Imagine you're doing a gen and you see a Meg running to your direction. "Oh cool, we can finish this gen faster", just to have her split in half and attack you. That would be nuts.

  8. The thing would only work if discord and voice chat didn't work. The only power that would make sense would be if you could kill a survivor and take their place to get close to other survivors. The hook mechanic making it obvious when someone has been killed, and the fact that your team can just say over the headset "I just died, so if you see Bill it's the killer".
Im hoping for A xenomorph/ queen killer and Ellen Ripley survivor and either the nostromo or LV-426 as a map
