Is Scavenger underrated? If we look at the numbers and its best case scenarios, then the answer is unequivocally yes. However there are a lot of factors that make Scavenger far less appealing than some other much simpler perks. In this video I tried to figure out exactly how much Scavenger helps and tried to squeeze as much value from it as possible.

  1. i feel like its very unfortunate because on paper this perks seems alright but i think the factor that makes scavenger and other perks like hyperfocus no so popular even though theyre great on paper is the reliance on skill checks, and with skill checks being completely random with no way to guarantee one triggers perks like those will always take a back seat to other perks that are way more consistent and less complicated

  2. It is useless, you can't count the progress you get from hitting the great skill checks as the perk doing that. If anyone thinks Scavenger is busted OP then what about Built to Last? Scavenger you have to hit 5 great skill checks and get a debuff just to refill you item once. Built to last you simply need to go into a locker and you get 99%, 66%, then 33% with no debuff. Only thing Scavenger is good for is getting a toolbox if you have none aka new players.

  3. this might just be because I like potetial energy but would it work well with potetial? like farming stacks of that while you are slower at a gen anyway? or would this combo be so complex it's not worth it

  4. Commodious Toolbox is NOT the best toolbox to use with Scavenger! You definitely want the Purple toolbox with double charge addons and optionally Streetwise on top. It gives you 20% extra speed while only having a little less charges (44 vs 36) but because of Scavenger, spending a toolbox faster is a GOOD thing. Also, due to the repair speed increase of 100%, even if you trigger scavenger while repairing, you can use the toolbox to repair at normal speed while the debuff halves your charges spent, so in the worst case scenario where you must repair through the debuff you aren't penalized and you'll have some charges left over for 200% speed after.

Edit: I should've watched the entire vid before commenting…

  5. You know correct me if I'm wrong but if you have the perk slowdown couldn't you use potential energy because the perk is based on time you do the Gen rather than percentage of the Gen done to conteract the downsize of scavenger?

  6. I think Scene Partner is the most underrated Cage perk. I don't see anybody talk about the perk or use it. I use it with Object of Obsession and pray I don't get a stealth killer.

  7. Honestly scavenger is probably a high B for me. If you bring the best toolbox, it could be a very strong perk especially if you bring other perks to help kill the 30 seconds. And don’t forget that you get a free yellow toolbox from rummaging.

  8. I honestly like the widow's peak you've got going on Otz. It's a really underrated hair style that I wish would come back into fashion.

5:42 As a Sesame Street kid I am inordinately upset that the cadence is off when counting to twelve.

As for my thoughts i really think toolboxes need to be reworked. Gen times need to be more normalized across the board so Killer players have a better idea on just how long a single gen takes to do. There needs to be some variance to things though some means but it shouldn't be as wide of a gap as it is.

    Thanks for the video.

  9. Meh my personal opinion remains the same: playing as survivor is no longer rewarding.

I remember the days when survivors only needed two perks to be good at one function (gen progress, stealth, healing, looping); now survivors need to use 3-4 perks just to be mediocre/possibly get value on one function.

  10. Literally just change Scavenger to: While holding an empty toolbox, Scavenger activates. Rummage through an opened chest to refill the toolbox by 80/90/100%.
Rummaging can be done once per chest.
Unlocking a chest guarantees a standard yellow toolbox once per trial. (Takes priority if Pharmacy is active.)

  11. Otz i would like u to hear this , most survivor perks are dead so when a perk like mft comes , u guys start making vids saying its a prblm and it gets nerfed . So why dont u put this much emphasis on ultimate weapon. I always used hex face the darkness prior UW but y would anyone do that now as UW counters the most used perk windows of opportunity…. Talk about that aswell

  12. Before I watch this video;
Yes Otz, Scavenger is a really good perk and you know why?
It's a toolbox – refresher, bam, u can spam a gen, grab a flashbang + repair another tool after maybe doing a really strong safe.
well since im tired, i cant describe, but u get it.
    THIS PERK IS OVERPOWERED

  13. “Rather have a useless perk than an overpowered perk”
This is the reason why survivors mostly always run the same builds Otz 😂
So many useless perks (that also rarely give any value) that are pointless and only a few worth running lol.
Not firing shots at you or anything but I’m sure you get what I mean.

  14. When I built around Scavenger I discovered 2 things about 2 perks:
    1. Built to Last: In classic BHVR Spaghetti code, for some reason, If you proc scavenger BEFORE using all your refills on Built to Last, scavenger will not fully refill the charges on the toolbox, but rather follow BtL's diminishing replenishing logic.
    2. Potential Energy: I learned that the time it takes to fully charge Potential energy, is the same amount of time as Scavenger's Debuff, so, in theory, if you have 4 tokens for scav, and get a skillcheck after 15 seconds of uninterrupted progress and hit the great, should you activate potential energy, you completely negate the downside of scav.

  15. Fogwise, Stake Out, Hyperfocus, Scavenger doing a mid gen is the closest I get to making it good. But my preference right now is Prove Thyself, Friend Competion, Blood Pact, Teamwork: Power of Two for gen rush. You find your Obsession and stick with them destroying gens.

  16. Nice, so can we now talk about Ultimate Weapon and Nowwhere to hide, maybe they will get nerfed to the ground as well? After 3% of MFT were soooo bad for the game, that ppl forgot about Bloodlust and Xeno's Rapid Brutality, that obviously counter MFT in every way? Even NOED can completely render the 3% useless at lvl 2. So yeah, maybe lets talk about some killer perks that cannot be countered except by completely useless survivorperks, that arent good for anything except single situations (Uhm Calm Spirit… Distortion….?)

  17. Yo Otz, i havent touched DBD in nearly 3 years but I watch your content religiously. You are by far one of the most impressive content creators I've been following in the sense that every bit of content you make is high effort and entertaining. Hope in some way this reaches you, you're a real treasure to gaming content.
