Talking a bit today about how people can perceive Dead by Daylight as more negative than it is because they inhabit spaces that are overly negative.

Love your videos!
There’s been content creators that I respect that’s been going down a super negative path. It’s been making it really hard to watch said content.
So I slowly have been removing myself from their communities. It’s a drag but oh well.
i agree that being in certain spaces has certainly been affecting my viewpoint on the game and making it more negative, a streamer ive been watching for a bit has been in similar state where most if not every match is just screaming and yelling and complaining about the game and it becomes difficult to want to be there or enjoy that space anymore :/
i hope they can get better but i think at the end of the day its better for me to not be in that space rn
WELL we should address the issues in the game >:(
DBD has something positive going for it? ☠
a quote that fits this "the longer you stare at the void it eventually stares at you" you can resist but in the end the environment grows on you.
Ikr like i was playing with a all exposed build for fun and i had the WHOLE SQUAD talk trash in a psn gc. Those cowards used alts too. They're acting like they didnt have sabo toolboxes
Then theres me, who has fun, crazy right?
Pretty sure you're talking about Angry Pug.
I dunno man. Played a match last night where the killer took the game hostage because they were desperately hunting me down (streamer) so that they could hump and be a toxic little shit. This went on for almost 10-15 min after the match was over, for all intents and purposes. What I'm getting from you is that the game itself is the toxic space and should be avoided bey people who don't enjoy toxic spaces.
Yes I'm being (a bit) hyperbolic but that single match was representative of frankly the majority of matches that were played that night. The problem with the dbd community isn't the spaces we choose to find ourselves in but rather which part community is, and has been, taking control over the space in general…and is growing in terms of popularity. It was years into the game's release when the devs finally did something about Ochido to try and reel in the toxic community that they fostered and allowed to grow for, frankly, short sighted profits. It stems from the devs backing the comp community, hosting tournaments, and going full bore into competitive design changes away from their more casual roots (e.g. SBMM, Kills = Skill). It comes from fairly blatant pay-to-win metas that come out, especially when it comes to killers from popular franchises being released in frankly over powered states (regardless of whether or not the community wants to admit to it). On that same note it stems from a community filled with mains or fan boys/girls who without fail rush to the immediate defense of every bug, glitch, exploit, over powered perk/combo, and/or killer so long as it favors them or their fandom. Let's be honest, these devs are devs that gave up on their game a long time ago and have no vision outside of what keeps making money the result is that the side that is loud enough gets the ears of the devs and gets to shape the space into what they want, especially if they reject the will of the devs and inject their own behavior into each match. so let's just be honest, DbD is a toxic space with a largely toxic community, either through active toxic behavior or through bystanders (audience) who happily chuckle in private. To say that the problem is the players choice ignores how communities/cultures/etc. can change over time, and this game and the majority of it's active community members have done what they can to push out positive voices in the community who are terrified that fairness, positivity, and sportsmanship would threaten their fun.
I don't play dbd for contents or a living, so I would never understand the frustration streamer goes under. At least I have the luxury of taking a full month hiatus and not play dbd.
I've noticed that a lot of DBD streamers come off very conceited and non welcoming unless you have been there since day one or a subscriber. They tend to only interact with you if you have a badge and are giving them money. One of which bans you for saying hi in their chat cough cough IYKYK. I try to follow small communities of streamers and they seem to be more welcoming. And a lot of them seem to be less negative. Not all but some.
I focus on the issues currently in the game, as any problems that come in the future is pure speculation. For example, BHVR tendency to leavee killers in a shit place for YEARS on end. Or hatch (hot take)
I bought DBD on release and didn't start playing until this 2v8 event dropped and its partly because of my perception of the DBD community as gate keeping and toxic. Thankfully I played league pf legends before getting into DBD so the few encounters ive had with griefing teammates or SWF survivors hasn't deterred me.
I think on the whole, most players just want to play the game. Most people act normal. If they have a bad match they just go next and life goes on. It's just a vocal minority that act completely unhinged. I will say, however, that that vocal minority is one the worst I have seen in any gaming community, and the only reason I can think of to explain it is the asymmetrical "us-versus-them" mentality.
Man I really thought this video would be about the cinematographic concept where you emphasize something by NOT showing it and was quite intrigued by how to apply that concept on DBD. Instead it's just rambling about negative people in DBD. That's the same as saying it's a rainy day in London.
I agree 💯 and not really. Im kinda a lone wolf in the community. Heh
Pessimism and whinging is always an easy and popular choice. And it’s infectious! Fatalism, catastrophising, spite. Venting, ranting, sneering. It’s “fun”. One must inoculate oneself to this intoxicating toxicity.
Now, I do love a whine myself and there is stuff that needs addressing, but c’mon guys. Don’t take it too seriously. 2v8 (despite its warts) is awesome, and a lot of recent stuff has been good. We loved All Things Wicked, didn’t we? You really are chill customer Mr. Imma sub.
No way you defend BHVR after they released D&D the way they did. In my opinion they hurt their rep and any future I'll have with DBD then they put Vecna out in such as bad state on the PTB only to buff him majorly for release. Fast forward and now he is just another mid killer after taking huge nerfs once the sales were slowing, this was the final straw for me and I refunded the chapter and never looked back at this game and from what I understand 2v8 may have been fun but the matchmaking was so bad killer que was 30+ minutes most times or insta que as survivor. Now you are just simply USED TO the beatings BHVR gives you and I'd rather move on.
I'm sorry, Bran, but I personally can't accept your apology. That fork was unacceptable.
I believe there is plenty of room to be pessimistic about balance, especially over the past year, and we all can agree on that, but I remain positive about other aspects of the game, such as new content, events, etc.
Negativity isn't inherently bad, but rather a symptom of something bad.
Now that "something bad" can genuinely be the subject matter at hand, or with some people, they will be miserable no matter what.
