Despite always ranking very highly on tier lists, almost no one plays Artist and when they do her kill rate is pathetic. Why is that?

  1. All the hook changes greatly impacted her strength, as if you wanted to play to win a lot of people would camp a hook and shoot birds at gens because that was simply the best way to play her. She's still strong, but had a pretty big fall from grace as you can't do that now. I think if the hook changes were reverted (No anticamp, 60 second hooks (which absolutely should be brought back into the game but i digress), and hook grabs) you would see her a lot more

  2. Artist is like Overheat Billy from my own playing her, I do not have a lot of hours in her

Incredibly fun to play when you go for shots and incredibly rewarding when you get the prediction shots, but incredibly hard to hit shots.

i dont think any artist players i follow play her in the zoning strat either, they all go for long shots or slingshots.

  3. Hot take but crows should make you in-capitated = no locker bs. Just like the crouch tech it kinda removes any skill "dodging" her shots. I know some people think the locker thing is cool counterplay but I'ma be real it feels like an oversight like twins and is honestly kinda lame.

edit: this also removes the crap where you try to dispel them but then start working on the gen instead by mistake wasting precious time that could be spent dispelling the crows.

  4. I love the Artist and play her regularly. I will admit I don't place my birds optimally at loops, which – as you say – requires a fair bit of understanding of the loops and maps. I mostly go for snipes, which is so satisfying when you pull them off.

  5. I came up with a really good rework to Artist to make her more desirable to play. You see, as you said, a lot of people play in the leave bird at pallet way, as a sort of "trap" killer, so why not make it that way? A lot of people get anxious because the birds disappear after a while, so let´s make them permanent. Leaving them permanent may make people confused as their birds do not come back to them so in order to help people a bit, we´ll increase the amount of birds she has to, like 8, for instance. Now we got the shooting problem, shooting is lame and no one hits anyway, so i propose a more folkloric power. Let artist mentally connect to her birds, and see as they see. Since they´re a scouting mechanism now, you should be able to place them at higher altutiudes, but it wouild be weird to see a bird just stand there in the air, so let´s say she can only stuck them to surfaces now. But just seeing survivors is kinda lame, so say seeing them for a while curses them, yeah, they get like a big gulp of ink flowing from their back, one they can spread to nearby survivors as the artist spreads her talent. And to make this curse threatening, say if artist curses you again, she teleports to you, like a phantom in the woods, and she gets speed and breaks pallets to be even scarier.
Survivors would need a way to fight back against this, I guess, so let´s take a hand from vecna and give them a unique item, say a paintbrush that let´s them erase the birds around them or the big gulp of ik from their back. now I think this is a perfect rework that would make Artist's potential really shine.

  6. Commenting before watching.
She was my first killer P100 those nightlight stats are mainly from me. 🙃 . She is still very strong. But her power is very punishing to learn (bird cooldowns are long and the slowdown curve is punished by hiding w) with a ton of growing pains, especially for newer players because she needs have an understanding of survivor movement and macro managing.

When people are newer, newer survivors have weirder and unoptimal movement. So she has trouble for playing at where most of the player is. So a lot of people don't enjoy her. Like why do all these extra steps when artist with less extra steps like Huntress exist.

  7. I hate her so much. I swear she can just shut my loops down and hold her birds for an easy hit because the reaction time needed is not great, and her placing her birds allows her to roll around my loops so if I leave she can usually catch up. In certain scenarios against artist if either had to run straight and take the bird hit and die, or I crouch, she throws those birds, they miss, but by the time they pass me and I get moving shes just caught up.

  8. As a moron who loves Artist's, the sniper Artist's who two shot with the birds is very fun to play and vs for me, because as Artist i can hit people with crows twice before the survivor despells them, and as survivor if the killer misses i can dispell the crows, thus sniper Artist's requires more skill to play thus earns my respect as survivor, and plus i don't get annoyed by constantly dispelling crows when vs'ing a sniper Artist, BUT shotgun Artist's are terrible to vs and play because although it's easier to get hits the survivors get rid of crows before recharging the power making crows an annoyance that's both useless as Artist and annoying to constantly dispell crows as survivor.
Ps: I'm not a sore loser i don't get mad when someone beats me because they had more skill because I know I can just improve and get better than them eventually, it's only when the game screws me over through lag or bugs or unbalanced things that I get mad

  9. i think artist is kinda hard to play and easy to counter. like imagine the counterplay to nurse charging a blink was to just leave the loop. also her power feels clunky and you are punished a lot for using it wrong

  10. I suppose the Artist is kind of a "easy(ish?) to play, hard to master" situation. She's very good but I guess many don't wanna pick her because there are other killers who are more fun and/or easier to play with and don't wanna invest that much time in mastering a character you could get similar results with another killer.

On a personal note, I don't feel like playing her much because I get tired of her stupid bird noises she makes very fast lol

  11. Artist is like both Nurse and Singularity in my mind. Very strong but you gotta get good at that power to get any value otherwise you'll just get stomped but if you get to good at it your just doing the same thing but in reverse where your just stomping everyone else. This type of killer isn't healthy for the game overall in my opinion.

  12. Now that I've finished this video…what was the point of it? "Nobody's playing artist" okay interesting. Concludes video with "I don't want people to play artist". Bit of a big nothing burger

  13. Genuinely my FAVORITE thing about artist and what got me into playing her is the sound design. The heavy bass that plays when she launches her birds scratches something in my brain.

I think an amazing quality of life buff for her would be

1.) Have a sound indicator for when she hits someone further than 32 meters from her, similar to how she yells when she swarms someone.

2.) Remove survivors abilities to see crows when in flight (the white aura) BUT Make the heavy bass sound and her scream for when she launches the crows MUCH louder. (Would make for a more intense and engaging environment having to listen for when the crows take flight instead of being able to see them.)

3.) REMOVE THE LOCKER INTERACTION WITH SWARMING. It completely disincentives going for long range snipes.
