EDIT: I misread it and thought the new distortion only works in chase. It will protect you from ONE aura read, then it deactivates and won’t reactivate until you are in chase.

Dead By Daylight released their September developer update showing us the upcoming changes planned for the mid chapter coming out next month. They also gave us these details which will be tested in the Public Test Build scheduled for September 17th. Let’s check out these planned changes to four killers, 20 perks, the finisher mori system etc… planned for the PTB!

  1. Sooo Distortion will be replaced by Quick and Quiet and Lucky Star. Never gonna see these people … Probably see builds like Parental Guidance, Quick and Quiet, Lucky Star, and Head On. Could even replace Q&Q for Inner Strength.

  2. My thoughts:

    1. No idea why they thought nerfing Distortion so hard and then adding more aura-read into the game was a good idea. Aura-read is a lot of killer's strongest asset, and Zanshin's effect will make a lot of 50/50 plays not work in areas like the shack. (not to mention losing a killer is basically not possible with predator's new rework).

    2. Depending on what Poised could do with aura-read it will either be broken or just as worthless (ex: Can I get the aura-read back if I stop repairing the gen, then start it again? Does it only work the first time a gen is touched at all, or is it just the first time I touch every gen on the map?)

  3. Yeah when the roadmap was announced and I saw distortion on the list I knew it would get nurfed into uselessness. These devs don't understand their own game at all. Let me explain to you how distortion wasn't even bad. Based on what I've seen as killer and survivor people using distortion ended up losing in chase much quicker because they hid a lot and don't experience the chase as much. When I saw distortion was on the chopping block with how much easy aura reading killers have I decided to just switch to object of obsession so now if I'm seen they are too. BTW running object will help your looping skills immensely.

  4. I just want bot killers so I don’t have to worry about some real person deciding they don’t like my character for whatever reason and going out of their way to ruin my game, got paired with the same killer twice last night and they did it both times because I played as Claudette

  5. Isn’t that you’re not smart enough; it’s that you have to be familiar with WGLF. Perk has a “do this to activate the endurance effect” piece to it. That piece is gone, so the perk grants endurance… but now granting endurance only happens every 30 seconds – so you can’t pick up multiple slugs and give them all endurance.

  6. I'm a Hillbilly main and all the changes are fine, it sucks when youre favorite killer is nerfed but the speed during overdrive is massive.

    When you were in overdrive you could curve sooner and nerfing the speed makes that harder. But as people learned how to max out the efficiency during overdrive a nerf makes sense.

  7. Lol skull merchant got Freddified hard. At the very worse I was expecting a "rework" more in line of the knight. While they still remove the parts survivors gate but give the killer something else new to play with.

  8. I find it funny that the excuse for the nerf to distortion is because it allowed survivors to go through a match undetected. As if Stealth wasn't a viable and sometimes key point to the game. I mean whatever did killers do when they couldn't immediately know where survivors were throughout the game? weave, nowhere to hide, darkness revealed, lethal, ultimate Weapon which I believe they added an aura to the scream, BBQ, Bitter Murmur, I'm All Ears, Lightborn, Floods of Rage, Undying, Retribution, Bloodwarden on top of several, several killer addons that reveal survivors. I mean there are so many perks that reveal auras that it borders on ridiculous. Then there are gen reveals and killer instinct that distortion can't hide from. I feel like the developers should focus on other aspects in a killer's arsenal than the Sauron "I ssssssseeeee youuuuuu" angle.

  9. The nerf to Distortion is insane. I didn’t use the perk, but I know many people who do.
    Distortion tokens could be used up so quickly by various killer perks and addons, coupled with stealth killers completely negating the ability to acquire more tokens or those with a small terror radius.
    They could have reduced max tokens by one with the ability to regain without going this route.

  10. Distortion change is garbage. Plenty of times I've lost 2-3 tokens in the first two minutes of the match. A better change would be making it longer to recharge or remove a token. Adding more and more aura reading perks and removing ways to combat it is stupid

So what I'm seeing: Making it easier for survivors, buffing perks that noone uses just to get more people to buy DLCs, nerfing killer perks that barely did anything, nerfing killers that only survivors complain about (often for no reason) and making Moris completely useless and making chance for a friendly killer or just them giving you hatch 0%. Well, couldn't say I'm surprised.

  12. Is there any part of the changes I actually like? (And did they finish Bardic Inspiration?)

    I still don't like the finisher mori – I still like the "GG" gate/hatch that I occasionally get.

    Survivor perks:

    Teamworks: Still won't get used outside of weird SWF groups. You only want to run as a pair if you're running for the door. Useless.
    Corrective Action: Still won't get used, period. Useless.
    Inner Focus: Hmmm. Maybe? If you really want to see that, though, I still think Empathy is the more useful perk.
    We're Going to Live Forever: You actually managed to make the perk MORE complicated. Good grief.
    Poised: Okay. I see that one (rarely), so this one may enter some kind of rotation.
    Blood Rush: Again. Nobody used it before, nobody's going to use it now. Also, stop disabling perks when the Exit Gates are powered, that's when we need unhook bonuses against campers the most.
    Quick Gambit: Okay. This one's now going to see use, and it's going to be real interesting. I know people who play around trying to get the killer to chase them and leave other survivors alone. Now we get a bonus for that? That one's fun.
    Distortion: FARK FARK FARK FARK me. I constantly run Distortion because I STILL see BBQ in about 20% of my games, and see BFF in roughly 40%. There is NO EXCUSE FOR THIS. I'd rather have the original distortion back then this.WTF BEhaviour?
    Lucky Star: No one used this before, no one's going to use now. Who cares?

    Killer

    Genetic limits: Eh? Mostly exhaustion is used at the beginning of the chase, with the exception of certain Lithe/Dance With Me combos. Don't think I'll see this one.
    Leverage: Did killers really want a counter to… that Survivor perk that increases healing by 100% after an unhook? Really? Still won't see it.
    Thwack: Okay. I saw it once in a blue moon, now I may see it more often. (But with those screams, why change Distortion?)
    Machine Learning: Okay. Simplification, I get.
    Deathbound: Permanently making a survivor oblivious? If it was a totem, it'd be cleansable. Oh wait, that's already in the game. Yeah, I'll see this. I'll hate it, too. Maybe I need to start running that Lara perk (is that the goal)?
    Zanshin Tactics: Great. Another reason to run dis… OH WAIT.
    Dead Man's Switch: They keep trying to fix the switch. I think that's the wrong side of the combo. Make it so we have to stop repairing willingly and if it's all survivors stop repairing.
    Blood Echo: Eh. No real feelings.
    Hex: Crowd Control. I have no idea. I'm not killer main. Will we see this?
    Predator: Good god, another farking survivor aura read AND Distortion is farked? <sob>

    …and they didn't farking fix Bardic!

  13. Man, distortion was my go to. How many aura reveal perks do we have? Let’s start with the one perk that will make Distortion useless right off the bat…. Lethal pursuer… imagine Lethal pursuer and then walk up to a locker and use darkness revealed… yeah, distortion didn’t need any changes….

Well, just like extending our healing time, nerfing all medkits so they all only heal us one time, changing hatches to where they only open for the last survivor, can be closed by the killer, and a key is only useful with all these conditions, nerfing healing boon to not even heal us, nerfing our only iridescent add-ons to no longer instantly heal us and only give us a slight increase with a toolbox IF you hit both tiny skill checks, nerfing all helpful perks to no longer work after the exit gates are powered, and giving killers dozens of perks and add-ons they can use at once, they’ve decided to nerf the only perk we had to hide us from having our aura revealed. Do they even realize how fast 3 measly tokens go with 3/4 aura reading perks and 2 aura-reading add-ons go??? Apparently not.

  15. I am not a fan of the mori system at all. I have seen many people say that it would award killers for playing poorly by allowing them to mori the last survivor without slapping on an offering. As someone who plays both sides I agree. The bp sounds nice but the cons weigh out the pros. I like the ability to slap on a mori offering and mori all four survivors rather than only one. I also like the feeling that I am choosing to mori the survivor when I click the mori button. I really hope that this change to the mori doesn’t go through. If anything I don’t mind the mori removing obstructions and the bp bonus but I want the mori system that we have I don’t like these changes to the mori system.

So, corrective action. it sounds like you can bring that, and a friend with a giant toolbox can sit there missing skillchecks and bang out the gen in what 2/3 the time? and you dont even have to help him. I smell BUSTED. how bout pairing that with leader and bardic inspiration.. dejavu? are we looking at 20 second gens?

  17. Im not understanding blood rush, currently it lets you hit a button to lose a heath state and wipe exhausting, making you broken for a minute and the healing you. So what is getting activated for 60 seconds when you get off the hook, are already a health state down and have your exhaustion? did they completely change what it does and forget to mention that?

  18. Distortion got over nerfed.. There's just WAY too much aura read for killers in general. Predator and Zanshin Tactics got changed to aura read perks now too lol. BHVR has been doing this a lot too when they can't figure out what to do with an unused perk. They tried to do this a few months ago with Ultimate Weapon, but everyone pointed out we liked the scream better than having yet another aura read. Also I was really hoping for Unknown nerfs too. I despise that killer.

  19. I would have survivor that gets tagged by a drone gives Skull Merchant either an aura reading where she can see a survivor through walls or increasing action speed where she can break pallets & walls, vaults, and damage generator faster either one can be base kit or an addon.

  20. Distortion change is actually really healthy. Distortion only encouraged killers to keep chasing the people they've already caught, rather than seeking out chases with other survivors.

    Mind you, I'll camp and tunnel relentlessly and unapologetically. But I recognize that it's better for the game to encourage unique chases, rather than encouraging people to avoid them.

  21. I was hoping they would be adding the ability to dispel a few hallucinations and then remove the weakened effect, as well as the state down. Kind of disappointed that the only way to be able to get rid of it is to risk being in a chase to try and dispel it.

  22. Distortion isnt the reason players can go unseen for the entire match. Even without it survivors can spend the whole match in a locker, so long as they touch a totem/chest or pick up/drop an item every minute or so. The number of things a survivor can to to avoid stationary crows that still let them be basically stationary is ridiculous. If anything, nerfing Distortion will have the opposite effect since players were more likely to run into the killer by doing objectives with distirtion than by hiding away from the objective so their aura doesn't get seen.

  23. It wouldve made more sense to remove the hidden scratch marks part of distortion to balance it. Or maybe 2 tokens instead of 3. Or maybe additional 10 seconds to gain a token back. Litterally so many other options than what they chose.

  24. They should add an option to let us delete maps we never want to go to. Who the hell likes playing grave of glenvale? That map sucks! I’ve got like 300 of those map offerings stacking up.
